  1. Past hour
  2. What was the saying, something along the lines of, a picture featuring the greatest player ever, and Pele
  3. Registration is a one off thing, ie if the deadline is met for the third round it’s met for subsequent ones too. The squad list relates to league matches only
  4. If you want to persuade/influence/change minds…don’t alienate initially is possibly a solid starting point..? 🤔
  5. Well, as the discussion is based around performance for Rovers vs whether we lost any money on them, I suppose you have to consider their whole Rovers career. What I will do is just provide these stats for each players final season with Rovers, which is obviously the post-horrific injuries version of Dack. Dack: Played 33 | 7 Goals, 3 assists Ennis: Played 13 | 1 goal, 0 assists Telalovic: Played 20 | 0 goals, 0 assists So, which ones would you rather have playing for you? From an old fashioned point of view, I like Rovers players to actually do something when they play for us, rather than pay them for a year, completely waste a squad place and then hope we can break even or make a small profit after they've been a disaster.
  6. First 30 minutes were pretty level. United then had a spell where they were rampant for 15 minutes before and then 15 minutes after half time. Loads of shots, clearances off the line etc.. Got themselves in front, immediately took Bruno Fernandes off for some bizarre reason and then it went pretty even again. But in the spell when Untied were on top they could have had 4 or 5.
  7. If as a fan base we can't convince the group 4 people to show their dissatisfication and/or anger towards to the owners then we won't succeed, but at the same time, if they haven't been persuaded to join in by this point I don't think anything could persuade them, unless we ended up in league 2 or liquidated, by then it would be too late and we might do a Bury. At that point some of group 4 which you've described might regret not speaking out earlier. That's not a prediction of what is going to happen to this club but it's not unthinkable in the long term. I think League One is inevitable in the next couple of years if they don't leave.
  8. I think people vastly underestimate just how much money very average Championship players are on Gueye will be very close to our self imposed wage ceiling. as will every player who is not on their first or second pro deal after coming through our academy (or being bought following a release from a youth team (such as Dolan when he initially joined from Preston) The days of players coming from abroad to play for Championship clubs for "only" £5K/week are long gone
  9. To repeat....'where has all the money gone?!'
  10. I find it worrying (and depressing...) when I read Gueye is being moved so we can free up wages for a new striker. Surely he cannot have been on much having come from a crap side in the second tier of the Belgian league? He was simply not good enough for Blackburn Rovers and symbolic of what has happened to the club. Expect another cheap punt to come in...round and round we go
  11. They have a point in the fact that Anorim refused to adapt his 3-5-2 system which was his downfall, the players he had didn't fit the system. a 3-5-2 requires seriously talented centre backs and wing backs (hence why it doesn't work here either). we should really be playing a 4-1-3-2 with Gueye knocking it down to Ohashi/Gudjohnsen.
  12. I think it stems from the bizarre way that football clubs all seem to be run nowadays. People in suits telling the actual qualified manager what type of football to play. All this shite about philosophies etc.
  13. Why should group 4 be kept onside if they're not going to consider taking action? Tailoring messaging towards a group who are going to ignore you is only going to dilute the message for those you can reach. If you want Venky's gone but aren't willing to sacrifice anything for it then the coalition clearly isn't for you, and that's fine.
  14. What I’m trying to say is that there is a another group (out of 4) that is nuanced. 1) So there’s the folk that will do the boycott. 2)The ‘back the lads’ crew fundamentally aren’t interested in any of this, don’t as long as there are those lads in blue and white running about. 3) The Venkyclappers that still believe they are benevolent owners and we’d be dead without them (some cross over between 2 and 3). 4) This is the group I’m talking about. They fully agree that the owners have been an unmitigated disaster, no Venkyclapping to be seen, they do think about the club more than just once a fortnight, they care deeply - but boycotting just doesn’t enter the conversation. They are a match going fan and they’ll go to the match as it’s what they do, what they’ve always done as despite everything ‘your club’s your club’ and you get behind the team. For me, we need to keep group (4 onside.
  15. Modern managers? Or what we have - shite ones?
  16. Slightly off topic but this, I think, is an issue with modern managers. They can’t adapt to the players at their disposal resulting in them playing the same system/tactics etc ‘come what may’
  17. I'm a STH of almost 3 decades (including the Covid season) and I'll be boycotting the Watford game. I'm also really torn on ST renewal and whether I can bring myself to not renew. I think final league position may have some bearing on that. If they take us down again I definitely won't be going this time, it will be the remaining 5000 "true fans" who just keep going, who would not bat an eyelid about owners even if we were running out in the north west counties... as long as they were "backing the lads". Jack Walker's legacy down the drain, but just "back the lads, don't be negative". I feel resigned at this point to the boycott not really materialising and the crowing that will occur from the Venkyclappers (no one will buy us, we'd do a Bury without them, we're so grateful, brigade) when that happens.
  18. Can only think it’s tied in with that Business Club thing they do with local firms, as yes, who the bloody hell else is shelling our 35 quid in early January and rushing round from work to attend that!
  19. Winning headers and making defenders think, a 6'4 defender playing against a 5'10 striker is a walk in the park. If we played a bit of route one or more crosses with a Gueye type figure in and around the box, the defenders would have to think more. In his early days he put himself about and was a physical presence as time grew on and his confidence lowered this impacted his style of play as well as him coming on for the last 8 minutes being told to press the centre backs. This is why we never saw the best of him.
  20. Big Mak knocked that ball right into Weismann's patch at Turf Moor and I thought "We've got a handful here". However the next 14 months proved it was a bit of a fluke. For someone so big, his aerial prowess was poor. He often was out jumped by shorter centre halves, and when he did win headers they weren't the knock down from the Burnley game, they either flicked on to nobody or were aimless. He is a poor header of the ball, and has a poor leap for such a big guy. He has certain odd games (West Brom away was it?) where it seemed to click and defences struggled to handle him. But generally he's been disappointing. Would I rather have him upfront for the last 10 minutes instead on Henriksson. Yes (if he stayed onside). But generally, for the money we paid, there has to be better options available.
  21. Today
  22. RIP Tony. A great player for Rovers, one of the best. Played alongside Pele at NY Cosmos IIRC, that’s how good he was
  23. Better lower it to 10 seconds for others if that's not too much for them. Can't risk missing a goal. There were fans in the 90's who must have died very happy as far as their football club was concerned. You should remind them how many fans have died with such idiots in control some of whom would have been actively boycotting or driven away permanently. How many more do they want? Sometimes you have to be that heavy to get through to people. It says more about them if you can't.
  24. On the left wing we've got Tony Field, On the right wing Johnny Price, For a king we've got Ken Furphy, Now ain't That fucking nice.
  25. One of my favourite ever players. Quick feet, great finisher and so exciting to watch. I won’t forget you Tony. RIP.
