  1. Past hour
  2. Under 18s won 8-3 at Liverpool
  3. One thing I would say on this, promotion and relegation was decided on an incomplete season during the Covid season, in two of the EFL leagues. This is 10 minutes of a game, where we had a huge advantage with a man up and a goal up, so logic says, award us the game.
  4. Was there that night. The penalty against us was as diabolical as any I have seen. As for the pitch, the drainage now is better than it was in those days but that was our undoing yesterday. After the 75th minute the drains and under soil structure flooded by the rising water table- It was why forking it was pointless and actually counter-productive. I bet the surface looks immaculate when Swansea and Stoke come to Ewood.
  5. Today
  6. It is permitted but I doubt that will be their ruling.
  7. With a replay we'll have gone from a 95+% of getting the three points to <50%. Ipswich had practically no chance of winning that game and yet now have a very decent chance of walking away with three points. Hardly seems fair.
  8. No he didn't initially. In fact I got a bit optimistic when the ball was rolling fine but then he dropped it and there was zero bounce. It was after that he went over to where there was standing water on the surface.
  9. Folk not from a BB1 - BB3 postcode. SEND EM BACK!
  10. And utterly ignores that we already played 80 minutes of the game and almost had it in the bag with a man and a goal advantage. As I say, finishing the game is the fairest option. The least fair is to punish the team who had worked hard to be in the lead and reward the team who had very likely fucked the game up, and to replay 90 minutes for the sake of 10.
  11. Were you in the stadium today? There was standing water on the pitch in the warm up, it had rained for hours and the forecast was that it was only going to get worse.
  12. But to say that a result is final based on an incomplete game is conclusive. To replay the game is at least open ended.
  13. For me, if I take Blackburn Rovers out of the equation and look at it like this... Which is fairer? Telling a team who were 1 nil up against 10 men with 10 minutes plus injury time remaining that they have to do the whole thing again against 11 men and starting at 0-0? Or telling a team who were 1 nil down with 10 men and 10 minutes plus injury time left that they have to accept the defeat they were thoroughly on course for? To me it's very obvious that the second one is vastly fairer. The actual fair outcome would be to have a behind closed doors game to finish the 10 minutes plus injury time with 11 vs 10. Ludicrously, that doesn't seem to be permitted in the rules. And with the way our luck goes I'm sure we will instead be punished by the far less fair outcome of replaying the whole thing.
  14. Yesterday
  15. It’s never occurred to me in all these years but the flat stretch of land between the hill up to the railway and the one up Liberty Branch Road looks a lot like an old flood plain, which doesn’t leave much scope for drainage. Once the raging River Darwen rises above that pipe, its head pressure must be many times that of the water coming down the pipe, which perhaps is why the pitch seems to just stop draining.
  16. Or even the away end also in that crux of the stadium both sides.
  17. I agree everything you say.. on cantwell I agree he should look to play deeper. Hes got real quality on the ball, seems much more motivated and stuck in this year, and an engine. But not the pace or strength to really worry a back line. Would like him to move back into midfield so Ohashi, Mori, Hedges and Gudjonsen can play as the four forwards. That said thought TGH was good, and Tronstad impeccable, so no rush to do it.
  18. Eh? It was hardly raining pre-kick off and the pitch was perfect at the start. You can’t call a game off on what might happen with the weather.
  19. Not the best solution but definitely more fair than replaying the whole match. The best solution would be to just resume the match from where it was stopped. Pick whichever players you want as long as it's 11 vs 10.
  20. We had these same conversations on here last season and since then we've had the driest summer for years and sold millions more worth of players. Nothing was done and we'll be having the same convo's again, it's barely turned autumn never mind mid winter and after the heat and drought nature will be looking to balance things out again as it always does.
  21. I'm genuinely flabbergasted that people think Ohashi should start games when you have other options on the bench. He works hard, but he just gets bullied each and every week - you saw in 10 minutes how much more Gudjohnsen added to the attack. As for the pen - soft, but they've been given against us a few times this year so I'm not going to shed a tear.
  22. By the way, we speculated how long the Carter/Wharton partnership would last free of injury. Answer----days not weeks!
  23. The ref has had a mare today. Nothing new there. Made a rod for his own back allowing the game to start.
  24. I agree but its not that linear... We thought we were going to be in the relegation conversation last year but finished seventh. I dont think anyone thought we were stronger 12 months ago after selling Szmodics and Wharton. If the question is are we stronger or weaker its within the range of possibility that we are as good, a real stretch that we are better but possible. We just have to wait and see. That said I still want Venkys out obviously, and to have an engaged owner come in, but separate from their lack of support the recruitment team and the manager could have worked miracles again.
  25. For clarification: by non-natives I mean people not born within a few miles of Pendle Hill.
  26. Probably staffed by non-natives 😉 Or just pandering to incomers. Probably call it a fish supper/dinner or some such nonsense as well. Nothing wrong with having chips for us tea. I seem to be becoming 'Victor Meldrew' on this topic 🤔 Having said all this, the whole 'John Bull' thing was a complete mystery to me!
  27. The club should have spent the money by now on a better solution.
  28. Gudjohnssen hasn't had is chance yet, on as sub last 20 minutes against Watford, and on as sub in atrocious conditions against Ipswich.
