  1. Past hour
  2. I don't think Taveres and Tronstad work very well as a pairing, as they're both defensive midfielders. Assume Hickman, and later Baradji, were brought in to break up the pairing but you'd be putting Tronstad in ahead of Taveres as it stands right now.
  3. The Members - The Sound Of The Suburbs
  4. He couldn't tie Buckleys shoe laces. He is a massive downgrade so far. He may improve as he gets used to this league - he bloody well needs to and quickly
  5. Nice to get the three points, shortly after the game ended my cat died unexpectedly in my arms so thats taken the wind out of my sails for what should have been a good day.
  6. I think Tavares will be able to play his way up to speed. He has clearly got something... Nzonzi took a while lol
  7. Wow, not just the win but the performance. Tavaeres is a hell.of a player but his pass success percentage is dire. Needs a lot of work. That's my only negative. Wharton and Carter were immense. This week the subs worked really well including the switch to 3 at the back. The discipline with which we saw out the past ten minutes of playing time was something we haven't seen in a very long time. And yes Gudjonsson looks the real deal. What a lovely goal too
  8. Not sure if it's a good thing or not, but 5 out of the next 7 games are at home
  9. Hes started really encouragingly and I really like the look of him. But Brittain was an absolute stand out for all of last season. No way is he an upgrade. Nor is that a criticism of him 5 games in.
  10. I certainly dont think it is dire but many of their new signings didnt start either for fitness reasons or because Parkinson presumably tried to be loyal to the side that won at Millwall. Hyam, Ben Sheaf, Josh Windass, Nathan Broadhead, their new left wing back who they signed from Empoli and Issa Kabore all didnt start. They need to all gel and I suspect they dont have the manager needed to get the best of them but they certainly have some good players.
  11. Cremant and Claret tonight with coq ai vin. Only seems fair.
  12. Really solid performance. Encouraging early signs for both Morishita and Gudjohnsen, who, aside from one lazy pass to Kargbo, looked fairly classy when he came on. I think Alebiosu might be an upgrade on Britain.
  13. Today's been good. First and foremost Rovers won! Should do wonders for spirit and confidence. Beat Ipswich next Saturday and we might just have reason to be much more hopeful for this season. Secondly, a nice tidy win worthy of an extra bottle of a nice red tonight!
  14. Today
  15. They are classed as defensive midfielders whose job it is to break up play not attack. Hardly ever get into the box! You don’t need two of those in the same team.
  16. Spending lots of money absolutely does not equate to success. We've seen time and time again; you can't just throw a load of expensive signings together and expect them to gel/work. Look at the side Kenny built. Alongside the likes of Flowers, Shearer and Sutton we had the likes of Gale, Wilcox, Slater, Hendry and Sherwood (all either free, or small value signings). Wrexham and Birmingham will both finish in the bottom half of the table this season for this very reason.
  17. Hmm, neither Travis nor Tronstad are sitting players, both get forward. And conversely from the looks of it Tavares seems more of a deeper player. So not really sure what you're saying here?
  18. Yet today's starting line up has 8 players who was here last season
  19. Wow Wharton, what a comeback! I take my hat off, I discounted him a long time ago. Big respect for getting into the thick of it, that’s a big hurdle. Hope he stays fit. Hedges deserves praise too. Hope Tronstad is back soon, he’s our engine in the middle of the park. Great game by all players, lowest score I hand out today are 7s (Tavares).
  20. Wrexham have spent a fortune, then I looked at their 11 today and it looked absolutely dire. Would love them to drop straight back down
  21. Had to laugh at the bottom bit.
  22. Aye, he did well. I was meaning the overall amount of Championship experience which we've lost, and brought foreign players in. it was a major topic throughout the window.
  23. I’ll take that back 5 over last season’s every time. Toth - huge upgrade on Calamity Alebiosu - Love child of Nyambe and Brittain Carter - great to see him back. Helped by not once getting dragged out of position to cover an AWOL RB Wharton - best I’ve can remember from him. Easily MoM. Ribeiro - better than Picks Tavares - I’m not as down on him as most: missed pre-season, new country, living out of a suitcase. I’m in the JDT camp on Travis. Sonny - more solid than Trav Morishita - good debut. Cool finish and his crossbar rattler reminded me of Simon Garner. Cantwell - really is like a new signing. Hedges - LWB might be his best option Yuki - gonna have to up his game. His assist was assisted by a deflection but good idea to try it. Gudjonnsan - best opening cameo from a forward I can recall. Him and Cantwell could be a top pairing.
  24. Fantastic win never doubted it! Should go into every game as a fan thinking we can get something from it Some players are going to take time to settle and adapt. Nearly all have come from leagues of a poorer standard than the Championship! I think the criticism from some on here is unjustified. Give them time, judge when we are maybe 1/4 of the way into the season. Sidnei is not Travis (thank god) completely different players. People complained we had two sitting defensive midfielders in Tronstad and Travis so we’ve changed it. Sidnei at least looks like he wants to make a decent pass even if it doesn’t always come off, just needs time.
  25. Regarding Morishita - it’s nice to see someone who can shoot with either foot out there.
