  1. Past hour
  2. Of course you're right. That being said, even when it was working or we appeared close, it always felt like it was miles away. The one constant in all of that is of course our Pune overlords, but some of our players also bear a lot of war wounds amongst all the near misses and 'what ifs'. A good point. I sometimes forget that we finished 7th last year; it feels a lifetime ago now. Even by Championship standards our overhaul has been considerable. It felt inevitable there would be some turnover, especially when the first domino (Dolan) fell. I cannot blame you and fully expect me to disavow the majority of my post within the next 6 months or so....
  3. Would anyone take Oxlade-Chamberlain? 32 and now a free agent... I feel as though we lack serious experience.
  4. It's only what many of us do on here. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  5. Sheffield United have been throwing money around this week. Good page to keep track of it all: Transfermarkt
  6. Nothing strong as of this moment. However, if you look at the way 99% of our business happens, it seems to start with UK (Nicko etc) speculating on a couple of targets (Afaloyan and Soumano) which I reckon are used as misdirection for the actual target. The ones you know are happening generally break from reputable sources in the target location / country and are basically already agreed. I wouldnโ€™t be surprised to see several names mentioned between now and the weekend and then Sunday night, Radoslav in the Czech Replublic starts bleating on about a completely new name who is about to sign! Lets see!
  7. I find it more awkward -it used to be in blue I think. Now hard to tell if up to date on a thread or not.
  8. Don't want to risk another eruption in Iceland again ๐Ÿคฃ
  9. Personally I would have quite liked to have built upon the squad that finished 7th last year, rather than dismantling it and starting again. Granted, that takes money which the owners refuse to provide.
  10. So you're happy with him publicly running down the club at every opportunity?
  11. Score draw here 1-1. They're selling one of their best players to Ipswich which is odd and hopefully sets off some bad vibes within their camp.
  12. Good posts. But on the point above. As I'm sure you know, it was working until promises were broken and the usual shenanigans went on. Close with JDT, close with JE, even Mowbray, all with dsysfuntion all around -not backed when it mattered. Some with plans that are remarkably similar to the new one. And so we have a volte face of sorts -money even tighter but a plan that all -well the unholy trintiy -agree to. The rest will follow (as in the best dictatorships) knowing full well the consequences of dissent. I don't really see how even further reduction in expenditure can lead to promotion but who knows? I do see that there won't be competing voices or power battles when it comes to transfers (SWAG v Pasha/RG etc) but that just means that all will accept less money spent and the mine will be in certain leagues.
  13. It's time they lost away, why not Ewood.
  14. Your not Burnley in disguise are you, 4-0 Rovers. Think positive.
  15. Waiting for the order to be published to see what, if anything, happened.
  16. It doesn't affect the transfer budget, it just means the club has more money to pay the bills without Venky's needing to send more funds from India. So in terms of team strengthening it makes no difference if we get a fee or not. The outcome is the same. Cost cutting and downgrading. So, not good news. To be honest, I would rather we got no fees from player sales meaning Venky's would either have to cough up more funds or decide enough is enough. Preferably the latter.
  17. For me it looks like the like button is not there but it's just very faint so I can still click on it
  18. That's fair. But those who like the new cost downgrade (or er, the new singing from the same hymn sheet/all travelling in the same direction) are likely to say after 10, if it's not going well, that more timeis required for bedding in. It has been suggested that it doesn't matter where we end up in this league.
  19. Mowbray did quite fine out of his stance. Lasted at least two years longer than he would have at most clubs considering some of the horrendous death spirals we endured during his tenure. I'm sure he was paid well and by his own admission had no real pressure to achieve anything beyond trundling along in the Championship. No fan pressure either - the bloke had flags with his face on them being waved before every home match! Don't think there's any need to feel sorry for him, he had it good here for far longer than the average manager tenure in this division.
  20. Hmmm, he literally said, 'I'm very conscious, I don't want to take too much credit for Wharton because he was a young boy who was just coming through" and alluded to him being 15/16. It was actually the host who said that, part of her question was "You gave Adam Wharton his debut". Mowbray only spoke about him moving up to train with the seniors when there were odd numbers. Anyway, I was very grateful to Mowbray for that first 2 -3 years. Incredibly (and this gets forgotten about), he only lost 3 in 15 of that relegation season, winning 5 and drawing 7. Extrapolate that over a season and it's 67 points, one more than we got last season. Obviously the damage was badly done by the insane appointment of Coyle. Immediate bounce promotion was great (okay, we could and should have won the league maybe, whatever), and then we never really looked like being relegated under him. Sad fact is, he just couldn't kick us on to the next level, and in the end, his time was probably up. Amazing to hear his version of events that he was left completely alone in terms of transfers. Huge departure to where we are now, and seemingly have been since he left. Ultimately, he made great signings (Dack, Arma), bad signings (Gally), and probably plenty of mediocre ones. I'm probably in the middle with this. Huge appreciation for his ability to steady what was a really rocky ship, and an acknowledgement of the frustration that he couldn't just get us over the line.
  21. It's still there if you hover to the bottom right of a post the like options are there. Text is much bolder which is great I find.
  22. He is clearly a man of principle but in this instance I completely agree that it was a stupid stance to take and one that warrants criticism. That being said, it is the way that people have escalated it to ridiculous conclusions. I have no doubt that he did always try his best and actively want to do as well as he could for the club. Its suggestions that he was actively trying to avoid promotion which clearly make absolutely no sense and are a figment of peoples imagination.
