  2. At the time Waggott was trying to flog it off we received a grant of about £1.2m p.a. against overall running costs of £3m p.a. to the best of my recollection. So at that point it cost us about £1.8m p.a. net. Absolute peanuts in the general scheme of things. Not sure what the position is now but id imagine fairly similar or a bit more expensive.
  3. All signs you need a new manager. The first 30 minutes of nearly every home game this season has been like that, against lesser opposition.
  4. We were blessed in recent years, by great Championship scorers like Szmodics, Brereton, Dack, Armstrong, etc. they’re elsewhere now, and we’re hurting for it. We’ve got Gudjohnsen (7), Ohashi (6), & Cantwell (4). Jorgy should help. We’re 22nd in goals. So, our place on the table is as it should be. Hopefully, a healthier squad now, & we will start seeing more goals.
  5. im 22 minutes through the first half of the watford match... we are getting absolutely battered. There all over us. We cant pass, we cant out sprint, we cant out muscle. We cant win in the air. Luckily were not 3-0 down before they actually scored. They had full backs getting forward, they had movements, they had dangerous crosses, they had corners. We did... nothing... we just ran around like kids football. Men v boys. Not sure I can carry on watching it. The amount of times we give the ball to our cbs from the gk and we look clueless to get the ball forward, we just give it away. I cant count more than 3 passes... I do think we need to be signing a- striker thats good at holding it up and in the air. Because sometimes it needs to go long when we cant work it forward. Need a bully of a striker and a left wing back/ left back/left winger, able to get up and down. At the very least!
  6. Am I not right in thinking that a decent chunk of academy costs are subsidised.
  7. I'm afraid you are misinterpreting this. Indian residents will be treated on "their" overseas income and losses as you state. But the losses of the football club are not losses of an Indian resident - they are losses of a UK resident, the football club. For Venkys in India a tax loss only crystallises if/when they dispose of the UK company through which they are injecting cash in to the football club - but that loss will be a capital loss which under Indian tax law can only be offset against capital profits, not trading profits.

  9. Or we’ll submit the paperwork too late again.
  10. We will chase Cleary for a week and either won't meet the valuation, or someone will come in a pinch him last minute. We will end up with a Cauley Woodrow style loan just before the window shuts, if we can get rid of one of the left backs.
  11. Yes, our academy more than pays its way, whether players are sold for decent amounts, or more importantly, if they become established first team players. There are countless examples. Setup costs plus a few million a year seems like the most sensible thing any club could do. I'm surprised more at our level don't. Not sure why but there must be a reason.
  12. 27, but I am including Garrett who is eligible to be registered but very likely won't be.
  13. No, I just added that bit for completeness.
  14. He’s from Brum and was at West Brom until last year. I doubt location will be a major factor if he was prepared to move to Barnsley.
  15. Although......do they pay tax over here if they only make massive losses?
  16. I hadn’t even seen their comments, I was too busy burying my head in legal documents in response to your question 😀😄.
  17. Don't let facts get in the way of Masher's contrarian agenda will you?
  18. Residents of India pay tax on overseas income which seems to be why the law allows them to offset overseas losses too. There is a double taxation treaty between the UK and India which means they can deduct UK tax paid from the Indian tax they owe. I can’t see anything in this treaty which alters the Indian law in regard to offsetting losses.
  19. They knew the league, the club and weren't sold a dream byt certain mysterious figures. Everyone gave 100% and played for the badge. They weren't cheap overseas imports who need to adapt to both a new way of life but also club and league. This season we had 3/4 new overseas players all who will have to change their whole lives while playing in the toughest league in the world. Recipe for disaster.
  20. I’ve taken a look at the relevant Indian tax law (I must get a better hobby 😄😄) and it would appear foreign losses can be offset against domestic profits.
  21. I think we are lucky in the fact that Sheffield Wednesday are in the league. As only 2 teams fighting for the play offs makes it a touch easier. however on paper we are the worst team in the league at the moment.
  22. I'm not that far from you in that, but he would be a considerable loss in terms of quality, and one I can see them being receptive to.
  23. What I will add is that even once an arrangement is made - the initial fee will likely be a few £100K at most, with the lions share being based on future appearances, his part (if any) in Newcastle's successes, International appearances, sell on % etc - Rovers will probably never announce it anyway
  24. The contrarian rides again 🤔
  25. So true. Just thinking, what will be the monumental f*ck up this time?! Forgetting that deadline day is 2nd Feb or thinking it's midnight, signing a player with the same name, signing a woman, putting Blackburn Athletic on the form, paying in the wrong currency?! Anything goes at Rovers in the last week of a window..
