The January 2026 Transfer Window
Emerald Isle Rover replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Interesting comments from McKenna on szmodics. Was baffled as to why they let him go on loan - makes sense now -
out of all the names mentioned or on the odds list, these are probably the best win % stats ive come across for someone out of work... might even be able to persuade Sonny, as well as the new captain, to stay on for another season if successful... but yeah back to spoons.

It's for those reasons I and others like him. I sense a steeliness about him, plus he's a proven winner. I am finding the other names mentioned very lame, including a not good enough for Oxford, but good enough for us, Gary Rowett. Let's face facts, we are in serious trouble. We cannot score goals. We are shocking at home. I predicted relegation when we ransacked the squad in the summer. Any new manager represents a big gamble and its 50 / 50 whether we stay up.

No chance Venky's would appoint such an assertive and fiery character - even if he is a close friend of the less confused brother. Besides, the two local decision-makers wouldn't want to risk the revelation of their previous transfer dealings with Satan - the low selling price of their souls: "He offered me a hundred quid for mine, but I knocked him down to a tenner".

according to nixon, satan is interested in the managers job, apparently always been a rovers follower but is fed up with his current job of managing underworld fc and wants a role on earth, brings with him a fantastic track record of managing players, their centre forward fred west scored 35 goals last season and goalkeeper ronnie kray was instrumental in their impressive defence, last seasons cup triumph over inter heaven is thought to be beezlebubs final season as he favours another challenge preliminary talks have taken place and he`s keen on taking the position, insisting he can sort out rovers problems of leadership and ownership,a noted disaplinarian, satan has a proven track record of getting results while coaching difficult players, the only drawback in early negotiations is his lack of experience in dealing with club owners, though that issue is thought not to be a fatal blow in his appointment as he intends to fly to india and directly address the venkys

I would argue that, if we were to employ any other manager from the Irish league, there would be uproar. The duff clamour is pure ex player tax

BRFC - The Nostalgia Thread
LDRover replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I was there and my abiding memory is of there being no grass on the pitch. Only saw 2 goals as my Dad wanted to miss the traffic, I was 5 years old at the time and this is probably one of my earliest Rovers memories. -
Damien Duff was very outspoken during his time at Shelbourne he took on the FAI publicly for change accross all aspects of the irish league and as a league of ireland supporter it was a breath of fresh air this is why he will not be the next rovers manager.

Wonder if the Chief Executive will be attending the next meeting? Doubt it!!! What is it now, 9 months since Waggott packed his bags? How's the 'notice period' going? Sums this lot up - if they can get away without doing something they will - if they can save on a wage by divvying up Waggott's job elsewhere they will - all about saving themselves cost and effort, not helping the club.
-
He did a decent job at united. No one has succeeded there. I'd take him in an instant
-
Genuinely appreciated his comment about it being a working class town. Struck a chord with me

Sam Szmodics - opinion changed ?
Tricky replied to Comfortably numb's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Sammie Szmodics: Ipswich Town boss explains Derby County loan switch | East Anglian Daily Times probably did well to get so much for him, watch him come into form for Derby now though. -
Realistically not happening regardless but I wouldn't judge any manager based on their time there tbf Considerably more distinguished managers achieved either not much more or even less - and we would take any of them in dreamland!

There were some days, when you read his heartbreaking autobiography, when he didn't know.
-
This lot running the show probably don’t know who Matt Jansen is.
-
If Johnson gets the job it wouldn't be for the right reasons. It appears he has no pressing desire to be a manager, which begs the question of why we would ask him to do it a minute longer than necessary, but beyond that they wouldn't be doing it for the good of the club/team. They'd be doing it because they can't be arsed or don't want the cost/hassle of finding an established manager and paying what it takes.
-
Nothing against Johnson but we don't need another rookie. Like bowyer who had the best squad we've had at this level and failed miserably
-
That's good
-
Don't know how many times this has to be repeated but he doesnt want it. (Other than on an interim basis)
-
Starting to think this would be my number one choice. As with everyone else currently in employment though, faces the massive stumbling block that we very rarely pay compo for anyone. Still also very happy with Bilic or Rowett if either are interested. That would be my shortlist of 3.

Don't want Johnson. He'd be a cheap appointment who'd go along with everything gestede tells him. I want someone the players will respect
-
Adventurous AND with the sentimental value added. What's not to love? I don't think I've ever celebrated a goal overheard on RadioRovers as hard as I celebrated Jansen's goal, on his first game after his injury, against Portsmouth in 2004.

Tea and biscuits Shame about Vi wasn't it? We've had 368 applications for the job. We did our best but January's always a really difficult window. We can't do anything about the pitch until the end of the season. Aren't those horrible kit suppliers being nasty sueing us? As if we'd do anything wrong. We can't talk about it obviously. Is that all? Great. See you in a few months! Toodlepip.
