  1. Past hour
  2. I posted about comparisons with Sheff Wed back in December, when the boycott was first announced, and in my opinion it's really difficult to compare the two. Below is a section of the timeline I posted originally (which was way longer and included far more misdemeanours going back years), honing in on the immediate run-up to TWO protests, one vs Coventry (on-pitch protest) and the one vs Boro (boycott). Before either of those happened, the club was under an embargo and players/staff had been told that wouldn't be paid on time for the 5th time in 2025 alone! Immediately before the Boro Boycott the club was facing a winding up petition. On 26 September, the club were placed under a further two embargoes, so five in total, this time for football creditors and amounts due to another club. On 29 September, senior players and staff were told not to expect wages on payday, the fifth time that calendar year. On 4 October, the match against Coventry City was delayed due to a fan protest on the pitch against the owner. On 6 October, the club were hit with their sixth embargo after failure to pay players on time. On 9 October, new chair of the Independent Football Regulator, David Kogan said Sheffield Wednesday's struggles are a "significant problem" and the new football regulator is seeking powers to investigate clubs in such situations. On 9 October, Unite the Union issued a statement against owner Dejphon Chansiri, for his continuous failure to pay non-football staff. On 16 October, it was reported that HMRC are close to issuing a winding-up order due to an unpaid tax bill of around £1m. On 22 October, the fans boycotted the fixture against Middlesbrough. Whilst a lot of Rovers fans (Myself included) are extremely angry about the last 15 years, and extremely worried about the short, medium and long term future of the club under the Rao's, our current situation is (on the surface) not really comparable with that of Sheff Wed. Very little of the above has happened at Rovers, save for a transfer embargo in.... 2015? What I'm saying is, whilst wages are paid, whilst there's 11 players in blue and white on the swamp, whilst we maintain Championship status and whilst there is no imminent (or at least publicised) threat to the club, many fans (and importantly the media and powers that be ((FA, EFL)) will turn a blind eye, and as we have witnessed, become quite angry at the prospect of protests, boycotts or otherwise, citing, "where would we be without them". In my opinion, protests won't gather a huge amount of traction until there's a tanginble threat to the future of the club. At the moment, the Rao's, and the board are managing to keep the good ship Rovers out of totally treacherous seas.
  3. Perhaps this forum needs promoting more it's a great source of info for all the goings on
  4. Amazing assertion all the way from New Zealand, well done great contribution.
  5. Considering our home form this season it seems a stretch to suggest the away team requires an additional advantage to take points from Ewood Park. Our manager and team are usually enough of an advantage for the away team.
  6. Today
  7. Only one I have head of there is Hornby, he's an absolute unit, everything Gueye should have been. No chance on him I would suggest.
  8. UK strikers abroad has led to me Duffus, Hornby and Ure Duffus playing for St Etienne in Ligue 2. 4 goals and 3 assists in 12 games (5 starts). Only signed this year for them however. Hornby 4 goals 5 assists in 2nd Bundesliga across 14 starts. Expires next year. Seems to win a lot of headers based on stats. Robbie Ure 11 goals 4 assists across 28 starts in Sweden. Ex Rangers and Anderlecht. 6ft 2 and good age. Rumoured to be moving Likely won't sign any
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if the Rovers hierarchy tried to blame the lack of signings on the boycott.
  10. A £7m bid certainly wouldn't have been rejected here!
  11. 94/95 season was the last time we got a win there… the club was in a slightly different place then. Indeed, we’ve only ever won there one other time (in 1988). So the bogiest of all bogey grounds.
  12. Just saw on Sky Sports that Bournemouth have had a bid for Toth of £7M rejected I nearly had a heart attack before realising it was a different Toth
  13. Somewhere we never win, 1 win in 36 years at there place I think it is. 3-0 down by half time is my guess. Ismael to come out after the game and say things are urgent and hope to have a striker in place by the end of the week.
  14. Would be like an away match, so the more who stay away the more you are helping our survival chances.😉
  15. sadly i feel the mostly likely positive result we might get would be 0-0. Maybe we can score 1?... But if we are to score or score more than 1, you feel it would need things like a penalty, own goal or red cards to swing in our favour. Until we get some strikers in the door, I just dont see any goals from anywhere. Can see us in the bottom 3 by at least the end of feb. Personally I think if we have no new additions or nobody back from injury, I think Id shove 1 of the CBs up top with Yuki, Samba esc jobby and try and play off knock downs, something different while we have zero options.
  16. Nothing surprises me at this club any more
  17. Any half decent owners would want to strengthen the team and sort out the pitch.
  18. I should have laid more thought on this, I mean could it literally be more Rovers than to sort the pitch out ready for League One at the cost of strengthening the team to stay in the Championship.
  19. Obviously not enough commission in the deals.
  20. Away to the Tractor Boys but with no Makhtar Gueye…how will we ever cope?
  21. As soon as Val brought up the pitch issue after sheff wed game I/we all should have been ready for the excuses in advance. I certainly was. It’s the perfect excuse for him/them to lean on (nowhere near acceptable in my eyes but they will spin that narrative that the pitch was a must and we would/could/should have been 4/5 points better off etc)
  22. The next one for us to worry about losing?
  23. If that's true, it sounds like we should prepare for getting a couple of development loans on a basis of we promise to play them as long as we don't have to cover their wage/loan fees If that's the case, then they will almost certainly be at the tail end of the window, once the parent clubs have exhausted any fee paying options of where to send their players, although we may drop lucky and get another player who had a failed Championship loan and has been recalled (similar to Cashin)
  24. The guy who gave a summary of what was Said at that talk never mentioned this? So ismael is telling supporters we have no money for signings but telling the media he wants 2 forwards in? We didn't bid for Barnsley lad then?
  25. An empty ground should be a wake up call to the players ..time to pull your finger out ...this is what the ground will look like if you get relegated lads . Get used to it . Besides that theory of an empty ground being an advantage to the away team is a load of bollox ..they ve had the fans at home since August ..just look at our record at home this season . Abysmal ! Maybe they like playing to a smaller fan base like when playing away ..another dumbing down of the club
