  1. Past hour
  2. We've spent a lot of the last four seasons sat in the top six. Yes we've never got over the line but I attribute that more to the January sabotages, four different managers too across those seasons. Those players (and are they expensive?) have shown that they're good enough to spend long periods of time near the top of the league. At the end of last season I don't recall many people saying that they want to rip up the team, get rid of proven, good Championship players and replace them with unknowns - some of which will work and be decent signings, some won't.
  3. Amazing what one good win will do you can guarantee if we'd lost at Hull the mood would be entirely different despite the continued signings. I think personally when you see such a sudden wholesale change at a club overnight then something has drastically changed at the heart of it. You'd have to be from Mars if you didn't suspect some fresh involvement from some new string pullers in head office but to what ends we don't know. Maybe big Barry's son is taking the reigns, maybe the new Indian finance director, maybe Suhail finally getting full control ? Or as is most likely financial pressure to cash in whatever is possible and put back together a cheaper squad that has more potential for quick turnover, which brings me back to the new finance director. Who actually attended a game ! Then we look at Rudy etc and imo they knew they were going to set about a massive turnover this summer and they have brought in some form of Agency or Consultancy to oversee it all. I think he represents that on the surface and would explain why he appeared out of nowhere. He was never shadowing Waggot on work experience he was doing due diligence for wholesale cost cutting and implementing of a new model. Just my opinion of course but what we do know is the agents will be in clover at Ewood again.
  4. Apparently derby are leading the race for Diaz 😂😂😂
  5. Wondering what the alternative is? Stick with the expensive players that have proven time and time again that they aren’t good enough to push us over the line? We’ve been stuck in a rut, and I’m pleased we’ve rolled the dice for a change
  6. Actually reminds me more of George Best, that hunched posture, the way he rode those tackles🔥🔥
  7. Me too. One of the first players I remember.
  8. He didn’t Phillip. Neither Pele or Ronnie Clayton played in the 0-0 draw between England and Brazil in the 1958 World Cup. It was a result of Brazil failing to score that they brought Pele into the team. Wolves Eddie Clamp played in Ronnie’s position. Bryan Douglas played in that game though. Ronnie did play directly against Pele in the away friendly against Brazil in the following year.
  9. Should be at the game today then if any truth to the fact he's here for a medical
  10. Yup, being reported by reputable source in the target location = VERY likely! I watched his reel this morning and he looks good. Clean striker of the ball, left and right foot. Resembles his dad with a couple of cute finishes too. PS - before the naysayers come on saying he hasn’t scored many in the last year, if he had….hed be worth 10x what we’re paying. We have to sign them at this stage and hope they hit that curve whilst playing for us.
  11. Hopefully 🤞 this will be a good signing. Only 23, been at some good academies & Icelandic international. Dunno why, but I'm on board with this one.
  12. Has Rudy done a good job? Well the proof will be told in time, but it also depends on how you define a good job. I'm not supportive or against Rudy, but I can recognise he's managed a squad overhaul pretty much in one window. He's got what is presumably the profile that VI wants - more athleticism and pace. He's got rid of deadwood - JRC and Bucko, who presumably were on decent wages within our structure. The blip for most would be the senior first xi players who were sold - but the balance is them leaving on a free which we've had enough of. If we can't offer extensions they'll sign is that Rudy's fault, or the budget he is working within? The unknown transfers are always a risk but, particularly under Mowbray, there was often talk of how our UK based recruitment was so unimaginative. Rudy feels he has better value from abroad so let's see. If rather try a punt on Tavares and Baradji than another Akpan and Williamson.
  13. Some players just don’t settle at a club. Hopefully we’re the club for him to show his best
  14. You are god damn right he is although even Gibson when he was there seemed to want TM more focused on youth development. However Tony probably never asked for much anyway ...'Steve is a nice man with a nice family, sunk millions into the club, fans are still craving the Ravaneli era' You know the script.
  15. I saw him quite a bit when he played for Lyngby in Denmark. Always liked the look of him and had hoped he was gonna go to my club AGF, but he went to Belgium instead. Don’t know why he hasn’t succeeded in Belgium but I’m quite excited to see him in the Rovers shirt.
  16. Ronnie Clayton played against Pele at the 1958 World Cup.
  17. A Berkovic header. That’s one for the scrap book.
  18. I'd be quite happy with this one. Not seen much of him but his International record isn't bad at all for 23. Could be a good option for that lone role. Looks physical enough and should be technically good- given his time at youth level in Spain. If his style is anything like his dads, he should be a good fit for us. Another player with a big upside should he have a decent season or 2.
  19. There is a photo of Tony Field and Pele playing together at New York cosmos. The caption says :" The greatest player in the world, and Pele".
  20. That's 90% of Twitter accounts to be fair
  21. I am super excited by this one. Normally the genes has a lot to say. Real Madrid academy who else was deemed not good enough for the real academy and had to ply their trade elsewhere? Martin Odegaard (cap of Arsenal) May have a massive potential
  22. Go on YouTube. The goal was for Sheffield United v Ipswich. If you didn’t know it was Tony Field you’d think it was Messi. A brilliant bit of skill. Incidentally I was browsing the racks in TKMaxx years ago and I came across two replica New York Cosmos shirts by “ Umbro “ , one home and one away. “ Pele “ and “ 10 “ on the back. I just couldn’t leave them there. I was hoping to get the great man to sign them one day. Too late now.
  23. I’m so what confused with the thread and the excitement at the new look Rovers. Some are even saying Gestede has done a great job. On the surface we have an exciting new squad but dig deeper and we have assist stripped, cut wages, disposed of the established vocal and passionate players who would speak out, sold academy local. grown talent, a goal keeper Pears who’s not been heard of for ages, and back room staff being disposed of, there is so much unrest and change at the club it frightens the F out of me and is seriously strange. I’ve not know a club make such sweeping changes in a season. goodness know what agent payments have been made and pockets feathered with these transfers-someone will gain. So who’s pulling the strings in these transfers? Whose benefiting, why the whole squad overhaul (and lack of contracts is a poor excuse as they’ve not been offered/played under valued ) the apathy and denial between the fan base of some serious concerns, lack of anger and pointing finger at people jumping ship as snakes or not loyal worries the hell out of me. Yet those pulling the stirngs on the surface are painted as doing a great job in loosing deadwood. why isn’t everyone jumping with rage 😡 is beggars belief
  24. Interesting one and he’s scored some goals at international level. Hopefully he’s suited to the championship.
