  1. Past hour
  2. South coast derby on. This might be the kiss of death but Pompey are taking the game to Southampton and look the better side. Not much to fear in the league this season!
  3. The Blades were my surefire bet for promotion this season - I think I even had them winning the league. Shows how much I know 😄 Selles has turned wine into water and was obviously a poor appointment but Wilder's return (again) is bizarre and is a poor reflection on the Sheff Utd owners
  4. By that logic Hughes should be getting poached by a team chasing Europe due to doing it with us.
  5. Does it matter? Still on his managerial CV isn't it?
  6. I was on the League Liner as well. On the open end, with a crisp box on my head to keep off the rain.
  7. But when was Mowbray with WBA? Best part of 20 years back?
  8. Wilder hasn't apart from Sheffield United just like Mowbray with WBA. 1 each isn't it?
  9. Not a boxing fan but a huge and untimely loss
  10. Not sure but you'd assume it would come from the home side if not ITV
  11. That’s irrelevant to the point I’m making though. Mowbray hasn’t got a recent track record of being promoted from this league, Chris Wilder has. I wouldn’t go back either, but money talks and I imagine it will feed his ego too.
  12. What a colossal waste of money that was. Still, Selles had one of the worst starts I think I've ever seen at a club that was supposed to be in the promotion picture. After Friday's debacle they didn't have much choice. Wilder is the obvious choice to stabilise things, as by all accounts he left on good terms and has essentially been on a well paid break for a few months.
  13. Mowbray rebuilt Rovers and did an excellent job, I think Wilder is crazy for going back again but its his club so that's probably why
  14. Why would they want to appoint Mowbray, if they want to get promoted?
  15. Wilder is crazy going back there. I think they should have gone Mowbray personally
  16. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/breaking-ricky-hatton-46-found-32473021.amp Just been announced that Ricky Hatton has died, absolutely gutted at that news…..
  17. It is looking there is a lot of dross in the league , when are Sheffield Wednesday going to get a points deduction ?
  18. Obviously we are basing opinions both positive and negative very early on here, as its all we have to go on. For example, Gudjohnsen on a promising half an hour. But it appears a mixed bag. Gestede also comes across unprofessionally and arrogantly. Alebiousu, Morishita, McLaughlin and Miller to varying degrees also appear promising additions. But equally, he has signed a player out injured for months and also De Neve and Henriksson have appeared to be well off the standard so far. Tavares has also really struggled. But obviously the main issue has been the abject inability to hold on to any of our existing important players, with pathetic offers of the same wage and just an extra year. I suppose he isnt the main person to blame for that but Broughton managed it.
  19. Today
  20. ACD scored a really good goal here and a couple in friendlies I recall, the lad clearly had some talent but was missing in action too often in this league
  21. There were almost 1000 in attendance which is about the average I think. As usual they were vocal which was appreciated by the players and staff. Edited to add this.
  22. An early assessment of the season so far is that the majority of our new signings are pretty good and more than capable at this level. We are not as bad as we think and look to be on course for a mid table finish. Lots of dross in this league and certainly looks to be 3 worse teams than us. Goals and creativity remain a concern so scoring the first goal in games will be crucial.
  23. If you'd offered me Rovers sandwiched between Ipswich and Southampton after 5 games at the start of the season...
  24. My personal litmus test is - have I got a CD of theirs ? In this case no. There are and have been loads of truly brilliant musical acts out there that I just don’t get. Stevie Wonder, Queen, that’s just two more off the top of my head. You either like them or you don’t.
  25. Respectable turnout but below our usual Saturday afternoon standards i'd suggest especially after a two week break. For context we took several hundred more there last season for a 12.30 kick off game so i'd say there has definitely been a knock on effect from this window. Before yesterdays result the anger and disillusionment was still rather obvious.
  26. Our 2 wins have been away from home - does that tell us something about the way Ismael has set the team up and wants Rovers to play? Until this new team of misfits and poundshop bargains can show it can win at home too I see yesterday as a welcome 3 points in what is going to be a long hard battle to stay in this division this season.
