  1. Past hour
  2. It's clearly a financial thing - him, Buckley and JRC being ushered out as they signed deals under Broughton. Probably all on 10k+ pw and doesn't fit their model of you need to be a starter to earn that. On the other hand, if Pears rocked up to pre-season unable to train fully because of a dodgy hair transplant then completely understand why club want him moved - but that can't come at the expense of having an actual back up goalkeeper.
  3. I think it probably comes down Rovers being distressed seller again, and the puttaince in the pre arranged fee is probably a few pennies more than the compensation if he moves to the states at the end of his contract
  4. Well we have an option so in effect he is contracted to us to 2027 if we want him. So we have voluntarily pre-agreed a transfer value with San Diego. It's a bit of a puzzling one - what is there in it for us to pre-agree a transfer fee? His wages won't be massive so it's not like we would be desperate to get him off our books? If he goes and has a stormer and his value goes into 7 figures we have to accept the lower fee. If he has a bad time he gets sent back. Confusing.
  5. San Diego is also a wonderful place (my favourite city in the US). Can't blame anyone for choosing to make that move.
  6. I find it bizarre he has been frozen out for Michaleski, can only be a financial thing as he is clearly a better and more experienced keeper at this time.
  7. Sadly, the only chance he comes back in January is if his loan is a disaster
  8. I hope he stays, I feel theres a player in there. Hopefully has a decent loan and returns in december.
  9. Six figure sum ? for Duru Β£100 k ?
  10. Could we make it a game where for each ”verse” we add a name…? You don’t know what you’re doing Val You don’t know what you’re doing Val, Rudy You don’t know what you’re doing Val, Rudy, Pasha And so on. Might be a long list by the end…
  11. I’m not sure many fans were confused, I expect most assumed Rovers had got it wrong.
  12. Too kind sir. I wear my heart on my sleeve - snotty and broken these days, from all the trauma at Ewood!
  13. Today
  14. Thank you! Much appreciated! I'm sure it's not just me and my curmudgeonly self that feels this way about the way the club is run! All the best!
  15. Rubbish in goal though, ball goes straight through his hands.
  16. On a serious note, if Buckley does go to Saudi we may see levels of languid football up to now thought impossible. A relaxed play style in 40 degrees heat. A pivoting central midfielder who literally stands on one spot and pivots
  17. First Ronaldinho, then Beckham, and now Jesus Christ. At least the club isn't afraid to dream big. Pros: - Creative - Produces miracles - and we need a few! - Lots of followers - will be good for the socials - Should qualify for a Minister of Religion visa to keep the ESC slot open Cons: - Not a right winger - Can only play on Sundays - Is he as good as his Dad?
  18. An English Qualified Player is someone who is eligible for England senior team when he first permanently registers with the club in question.
  19. If there are no bidders for Pears by the closure of the transfer window then it's a no brainer to keep him as number 2 and loan out Michalski until the January. I thought Pears had a pretty decent season considering the many clangers the year before. He showed a lot of mental strength to come back better. I'm not suggesting he's on par with Toft, who I add hasn't won me completely over yet - that will take games and how he responds to a mistake - but I do think Pears is a useful member of the squad who could come in and perform if needed. Ideally, we would sell him and bring in another experienced goalkeeper who is happy to be back up, but if that doesn't happen then i'm fine by that.
  20. I must admit, I do enjoy a good Old Codger rant
  21. Have they gone a bit early with this? Surely tickets won't be going off sale today or is someone down there confused.
  22. Who needs to use public transport when your car can do 15,000 miles to the gallon? I'm looking forward to us discussing how you get to the 12:30 Birmingham away kick off by canoe again. That was interesting.
  23. The Rolling Stones - You Can’t Always Get What You Want
  24. Fully believe we'll lose our first 7 league games. We'll somehow scrape a win against Swansea on 30th September before going on another run, maybe with a couple of draws in there.
