2025 Summer Transfer Thread. π

Our self imposed wage cap has already seen us lose Travis, Hyam, Dolan and Brittain. 4 players who would be starting here every week, 3 of which went to other championship clubs. We'll never retain any good players, as they will always want to leave for more money. So the results on the pitch will inevitably get worse as the quality of the squad is constantly reduced. -
Outgoing Loans 25/26

Looks like a lot of poorly thought out loans this year. -

As good as a win it was for Rovers at the weekend, Ipswich appear to have clicked now, albeit after playing a very poor form Sheffield United side. I think this will be another home 0-2 defeat. Lots of effort on show but a lack of quality in the final third. Suspect Ismael will start with the same 11 that started the Watford game. -
Mr Woo from Benidorm and Ryoya Morishito. Maybe not in true likeness but the laugh is remarkably similar.

But then do we want to to risk losing cantwell to injury when he can be utilised more in a forward role in certain games? Sitting cantwell in the middle of the park is a gamble imo -

I think the likelihood is that they will have made a deal that they could stretch to if he has a real break out season and becomes a key player (which would probably also see Cantwell who will only have 1 year left next summer, departing to fund his salary) However, the most probable eventuality is that he is useful cover for a season, and then his loan ends and he returns to Birmingham in the summer - Today

Yeah I suppose it's easy to agree to a 3/4 year deal of 20k a week when you don't have to actually commit to it after the loan ends. I'd like to think they would have negotiated something realistic in case he does turn out to be a good one so we can trigger it at any time, but then I remember who's in charge. -

The permanent contract has to be agreed at the same time as the loan deal, yes, but there is nothing stopping Rovers from having the option of a permanent deal to take over his Β£20K ish per week deal and then simply not doing so... unless he randomly makes 20 odd goal contributions over the season and it makes sense to do so -

I thought Brittain would cos of Ismael.. None of us knew Tronstad wants to back to Norway at the end of his contract. I hope we get some. A couple will move on for first team opportunities. -

Well you seemed pretty confident to say multiple times this summer that Brittain and Tronstad would sign new deals. So, how many of that lot who expire in less than two years do you think will sign new contracts here? Going off recent history, I will say none, with the outside chance of one, being Wharton because he's a Blackburn lad. -

I think, when you do a deal that is a loan with an option to buy, that the permanent contract has to be done at the time of the deal? Otherwise it would just go down as straight loan deal. Ismael did say in his interview on the transfer window that the two loans didn't really feel like loans because we have the option to make them our player at any time. -

GB tried to get Dolan to sign a new contract 2 years ago and he didn't want to enter negotiations cos he was changing agents. Tronstad said in a Norwegian podcast last summer he wanted to return to Norway at the end of contract. Posted the link last week to a poster who posted that info Travis was never staying here when Eustace left and of course he would publicly say he wanted to stay here, in case he didn't get a move. Listen to Travis Derby country interview last week with their BBC Derby, he wanted out from here. -

If they're currently on less than Β£10K/week and don't want any more than our alleged wage ceiling of Β£10K/week, then I'm guessing none of them. If they're on more than Β£10K/week like Cantwell, they will be sold ASAP -

The point he purposely leaves out is once they know they are being low balled and their agents put the feelers out then they won't sign unless better terms are offered. The club have now even made it public all they were offering was one year extensions on the same terms in a clear 'take it or leave it move' because they wanted to cash in. They'll continue to do this and we'll continue to lose the better players whilst they also won't offer better contracts to long serving academy grads who've proven themselves championship standard. Therefore we'll lose them as well. -
Did you see Parkers interview? He seems astounded that handball would be given when the hand is in an unnatural position and said its something they'd have to work on going forward, like its a new thing. Suppose he couldn't really come out and say Hannibal is a tool though, which is the reality....

He only came on 70th min so his instructions/concentration was to see the game out. Keep your hands behind your back was a must but he missed that one.

This is a classic preconceived opinion of someone because of the type of player he is. Cantwell offers more than you think in that regard. Anyway, on this game it will be exactly the same as the last home game after a decent away win. Rovers 0 Ipswich 2 -
Leo Durus San Diego playing friendly in Tijuana on Wednesday, in what I think is the only game potentially involving our loanees until Saturday Game kicks off at 3am Wednesday UK time score/update

Toth, Carter, Wharton, Mcloughlin, Pickering, Cantwell, Kargbo & Ohashi's contracts all expire in less than two years. How many of those do you think will sign new contracts now that we can't use the excuse of "it was out of our control before we arrived"? -
Donβt call it a Tinpot league though, JBN, the Celtic crew on here get very upset!

No. it has to be in line with what's the going rate. As a Conservative surely you believe in the law of supply and demand? Don't pay adequate salaries and your staff go to someone who does. Lose Wharton and Carter, as we will, and the slide will be on.
