  1. Past hour
  2. Don't think the club paid more than say £200K - £300K for an unwanted player with an expiring contract. Cheap but doesn't fit the bill of what we need (which is a target man). Ridiculous how bad recruitment has been this season, offloading Championship experience and replaced it with a bunch of L1 players basically (De Neve, Henriksson, Tavares). Compare that to Hull who has been under transfer embargo and yet signed better players than us on a free. My prediction for deadline day: - Alebiosu will be sold (reckon £5-6 million will be enough to get him which would basically mean a 10x on what we paid) - We get Cadamarteri I guess but is not what we need - We replace Alebiosu with a last-ditch loan or cheap signing (the other guy from St. Pauli perhaps?) Club is self-destructive in all possible senses: - Self-imposed wage cap, making it tougher to attract good players - Destroyed reputation domestically and made a laughing stock with botched transfer deals (O'Brien, Brierley, McGuire) - Refusal to extend player contracts or not offering enough salary (Hyam, Travis, Dolan, Batth, Brittain) - Refusal to give Eustace any money last January when in a play-off spot but will happily spend reportedly £3 million on a single player (Jorgensen) when in a relegation spot - Refusal to pay compensation to get a good manager / head coach after losing Eustace. Instead, they get a head coach who was out of work for a year (Ismael) - Have an 'acquired taste' of getting players who are not match fit in January window, thus limiting potential impact for remainder of the season (Dennis, Afolayan, Woodrow, Forshaw) - Refusal to reinvest into the squad after big player sales (Szmodics, Armstrong, Wharton) - Refusal to sack head coaches / managers when change is desperately needed. Instead, they rely on head coach / manager to offer resignation themselves or terminate contract by mutual consent to pay as little compensation as possible We keep changing project, direction, formation, style of play and constantly being in a transition phase. But the owners are still the same a**holes they were 15 years ago; nothing has changed behind the scenes in reality. It's all a smokescreen to trick us fans into believing that next time will be any different.
  3. I don't know what more evidence is needed on this it's from his own mouth. Also absolutely nails why we never went anywhere once he'd made us a solid Champ team again. No real desire nor ambition other than water treading thinking those budgets we had at the time would last forever.
  4. Even the grandkids matches are too fast for me, both under 15's, one boy one girl. The lads especially are rapid, I've retired this season, I do try to do it properly but they're simply too quick. I've every sympathy, I always think that if var has to put the lines on, the lino has done his job whether he's proved correct or not.
  5. They might have been carrying long standing niggles or knocks but if we'd have needed to win that game to finish 2nd, Im sure they'd have played. Last game of the season, all summer to get fit.
  6. Has anybody else mentioned the state of the pitch, I thought It was quite poor.
  7. Could it be Henriksson is off tomorrow to a Swedish club?
  8. Someone is doing some uber bullshitting that these players are cheap investment signings that will double in value quickly. That's all they are interested in here we are run by agents and the two biggest are the COO and SD In my opinion.
  9. We're signing a striker that has scored two goals this season to save us. God lord.
  10. I remember feeling the same. But if I recall correctly, it turned out that the players who we presumed had been rested were injured, notably Dack. He didnt rest "everyone" with regulars Mulgrew, Lenihan, Armstrong, Smallwood and Evans all playing. Dack, Nyambe, Bennett and Raya had injuries IIRC. His main flaw in management is certainly a lack of ruthlessness though. Doesnt necessarily mean lack of ambition, but too much of a people pleaser.
  11. Like many on here, I have not been to Ewood for nigh on 15 years, after having been a season ticket holder since the early 60’s. For those like me who have boycotted I have the utmost respect, as to the others who continue to attend games regardless of their dislike of the ownership, likewise. I work with a guy who is also a season ticket holder, and he was at pains to throw down my throat how wonderful it was against Watford, that because of the boycott, all the anti Venky fans weren’t there, all the real fans (his description) could enjoy the game without the idiots spoiling it for the real fans (his description) That tells you everything that is wrong with part of the fanbase and its love-in with the Venky’s from a large part of the current crowd. They just don’t get it I’m afraid.
  12. Again, I'm not one to stick up for officials normally, and that’s true but harsh to blame him. If you look in this first picture before the first through ball is played he is up with play. He is however having to watch the ball to see when it is played. As the ball is played, two professional athletes start to sprint forwards. He has to try see watch when the first pass happened, watch for the second contact whilst watching the 'line' and also sprint to keep up with a sudden change of pace. On the second screenshot, look how far up the pitch they have actually moved. Ultimately he ends up a yard or so behind which probably makes a very tight call look onside. If you haven't got VAR, I think you've got to accept these happen. There's some they really should see (when the line is static", but I will let him off there, especially as the defenders toe might still be playing him on.
  13. Can someone tell me why Gestede’s being allowed to spend, after signing some utter s*%te over summer, but Eustace and JDT (and Mowbray when we were sat in the top 6) weren’t ?
  14. Baradjj should be in an advanced role. Not as a defending midfielder. He's got the quality to score goals.
  15. Well, if we do persist in appointing novices into key positions, we can't be surprised, can we?
  16. Not really any suggestion of some of the senior players who arent good enough leaving before the deadline. Henriksson, woeful player unable to make matchday squads at the moment. De Neve, pathetic excuse of a footballer. Tavares, back in a couple of weeks, not offering anything. Ribeiro, cant make squads, still here. Kargbo, waste of time. Are we going to have another mess of leaving senior players unregistered having presumably not pre warned them?
  17. It is close, but if the lino is up with play he would give it.
  18. I take your point on the first season and a half. In theory we should have stayed up after that amount of points but we didn't. He did get promoted the year after but that was the absolute bare minimum. Nobody is comparing him to kean or that other spiv cunt. That's just silly. This club can and should be doing much much better than Tony Mowbray. Just because big Val is shit doesn't make Mowbray good by any standard and that "journalst" calling him legendary is wild. If he's a legend then Don Mackay must be an immortal god among men.
  19. Let's get VAR in to iron our these mistakes...and then fans can moan about VAR 😉
  20. He didnt like asking the owners for money. As I have repeated, annoying but nowhere near the same. And him specifically turning down money in a season when he publically called out the owners for not providing any reinvestment or even allowing him to sell a player and reinvest, makes no sense. I think the more likely reason for that was something we have seen before and after, the owners fucking the manager over. Not them providing unspent and unwanted war chests. Occam's razor.
  21. There's no "burden of proof" on me whatsoever. It's a discussion board not a Court room. I've told you specially why I believe there were funds available (Waggott) and why (imo) Mowbray wouldnt spend them (Didn't want to fail and look bad). If you choose not to believe that that's your prerogative entirely. All you've come up with is "I dont think anyone would do that" when Mowbray has himself admitted he didnt like asking the owners for money.
