...And now for something completely different...!

As this is the "ask Nicko" thred , could I ask Nicko whether the US stock Market "correction" and Hedge Funds' collapse has affected the Williams consortium take over bid?

I wouldn't call it a correction, panic more like. Housing market slumping leading to record defaults on loans of people who got in over their heads, huge mortgage companies going belly up. I think it could well impact the Wiliams caper. Monies are going to become very hard to come by in the form of credit as lenders look to lend only to those with outstanding credit history and even then they are not keen on the big loans. It's going to get worse before it gets better. All this at a time when I wanted to put my house on the market for a move to Missouri, guess I'm stuck here until the market picks up.

I would expect much the same to happen over there too sometime in the not too distant future your housing prices are way over inflated. That is what drove the fiasco here, people paid too much then as the market stabilized the properties were no longer worth what they owed, ARM's started to hurt folks' pocket books but due to the house not being worth what they paid they had no way to re-fi, hence what we have today record foreclosures and Mortgage companies reeling.

sorry, I had to laugh at the above....

apparently "Laddie" is now less offensive than "kn0b"

perhaps, but I guess if you use a o instead of a 0 its more offensive.

I really dont know why im rising to your baiting because this is all you do nowadays on this forum, offer little contribution, make bold contiversial points mixed with your pessimism, oh and i almost forgot, insulting people.

I should'nt have to remind you but I will.... that you started the insults.

I think that was my point Flopsy. Try reading it again.

........ mind you I really would take my hat off to him if he'd sold up last week! :tu:

Oh and have you 'had a word' with the lad from sunny ozzie? I know Pauls stepped down but for the sake of consistency we really shouldn't be hearing any more from map until after the Arsenal match. Should we?

Is this the equivalent of a player having a word with the ref and trying to get another player sent-off?

Theno - I think Phil knows a hell of a lot more about the money markets and financial stuff than the majority of us dont you?

Why.....thank you , Flopsy :rover:

(Better not show you my bank statement , though ...... )

Can you turn that into English as it seems to concern me? Who is map?

Why not sell up and come home ?

map = mike at picture.

A few posts up he eloquently and accurately described Theno.

Then Theno acted like one of those players who tries to get another sent off.

Apologies for not sharing the Craig Bellamy story in today's papers earlier.

I wanted to confirm all of the small details before writing it on Sunday.

The best line of the after-match fracas [great word that] was Bellamy turning to Curbishley and yelling 'you're worse than f****** Souness.'

Now that really is an insult in the little man's book.

Interesting to see if he plays today.

NO prediction for the Arsenal game, too difficult.

You never know what side Wenger is going to pick. They will have an advangate NOT playing in midweek.

If Rovers get ahead they could win this, but I am a bit wary of the Gunners starting bright and scoring.

I am pretty sure the manager will be thinking that too.

By the way I am told Benni will play.

Sorry to interrupt the insults...

Middlesbrough are trying to sign the Brazilian Alves from Heerenveen, scored a bundle last season. Cost £9 million.

Anyone want to criticise Roque Santa Cruz at this point?

It's not exactly major news, but young Tony Kane looks to be making an impression on the management.

The right back was wanted on loan by a couple of clubs last week but the word came back that he would be involved with the first team squad.

He may get a month out on loan later on, but at the moment he is seen as being first-team potential.

Looks the pick of the ressies any time I see him.
