Wolves_Rover Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Petrov played seven games so far, he's been good in about two games which also are the only two he scored in. And City plays a 451 which means he should be a lot higher up the field then Gamst. Gamst is class but out of form. Admittedly Petrov did have a good game yesterday, but I'm also of the opinion it was nothing an in form Pedersen can't produce.

Bennisfromheaven Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 petrov, like pederson & matt taylor at portsmouth are regarded as top players by people outside their clubs simply because they pop up & score spectacular goals! We dont see the bad games they have because we are more concerned with our own club so we think we've missed out on someone special! None of these players would have the consistancy of a ronaldo or malouda for example and this is why they cost that bit extra!! I would still say that in pederson we have the the best of the bunch, he cost 1.5 million & we will get back at least 10m if he leaves, he can be extremly entertaining in his play & any time i have heard him interviewed he always has high regard for blackburn & really seems to like playing for us!! So lets get behind him & hopefully he'l bang in a spectacular hatrick on thursday to see us through to the uefa cup proper! ...fingers crossed
S15 Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Anyone who thinks MGP will go for £10m is insulting the intelligence of Mark Hughes, who is in no way disillusioned about his ability. Anyone who thinks he'll go to Arsenal is insulting in intelligence of Arsene Wenger.

Anyone who thinks he'll go to Arsenal is insulting in intelligence of Arsene Wenger. To be honest if I was Mark Hughes and someone came up and offered me £10mil for MGP then I'd be considering the options. I have had serious doubts over the Ped's ability for some time, and I worry that this 'blip' is something a bit more permanent than that. I do not believe he has the pace/ability to play for Arsenal, but I could see someone like West Ham/Aston Villa/Spurs throwing money at us for him. I think he's seriously overrated and is far far from indispensable. That said, I can't think of a ready-made replacement that would drastically improve the squad in this area but that's where Hughes comes in. I wouldn't be disappointed to see Dunn given the chance to make the left wing position his own, or indeed one of the youngsters (Keith Treacy perhaps) given a few sub appearances here and there.
Cocker Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Teamtalk Hughes said: "I made the decision to leave Benni back at the training ground just to do extra work. "I just feel his form at the moment is not quite at the level it was, so he is doing a lot of one-to-one stuff and that will continue next week. "He will be better for that and be ready to make the impact he made last year." I really feel that Hughes is doing it to wind Benni up and we all know what Benni does when he gets wound up - he scores goals. He will be his old self on Thursday and strut onto the pitch giving it - you have left me out and look what I can do and he will bang a couple in. The problem is that we shouldnt have to leave him out to make him do that

With Sparky on Benni's case he will get the result which will benefit the team. With Souness it would just descend into a personal spat where Souness' ego would have to be the victor. Another example of why we are lucky to have Sparky at the helm !

modes98 Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 I was suggesting MH knows he is worth much closer to £5m than £10m. However the media hype around MGP is probably enough to pull in a few clubs and increase his price. He has been so frustrating over last season and the start of this, i have no doubt he is still vital to the team but maybe this short break will do him a good and he will come back the player we all know he is.

Look back on his career and see how he has reacted 'if' he doesn't get his own way about money or a transfer. I'm pretty sure you'll find he'll either play with minimal effort or refuse to play at all.

thenodrog Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 I was thinking about the Arsenal match really (sure there was another time too but cant remember which game) In that case Hughes will use the situation to strengthen the team ethic within the rest of the squad. Heads I win, tails you lose situation.

He has been so frustrating over last season and the start of this, Many people thought he had a slow start to last season in an attacking sense, but he did come good.
Ronin Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 He's good, but if we are to be a top 4 team, players like him dont cut the mustard. We need more Roque's and Sambas to progress. Are there anymore players playing in the Bundesliga reserves worth looking at?
they_think_its_all_rover Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Fulham pair Collins John and Moritz Volz are January transfer targets for Southampton. (Daily Mirror) Nicko, I thought these were in a financial mess? I remember last season when Collins John was being touted as coming to Rovers for around £3/4mill! And, have you heard anything about the Leeds Vs Referee situation? were the ref swore at Dennis Wise as he was leaving the pitch? ...If I was the FA, I'd give the ref the benefit of the doubt... I mean, it was Dennis Wise!!! I saw Leeds only got a draw and while I was on 606 I thought I'd nip onto the Leeds section, to see what sad excuses they were coming up with for only getting a draw (as I knew they would... do the same with Newcastle ) and ALL the Leeds fans on 606 believed that the FA has it in for them that much, that they planted a dud ref at their game, on purpose to get 2 of their strikers sent off! fools!

Flopsy Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Thumb On The Pulse - Part One From Sunday's People: 'Manchester City are preparing a sensational £6million move for Argentinian World Cup star Juan Riquelme. 'City boss Sven Goran Eriksson has identified the brilliant South American playmaker as his top target, and agent Jerome Anderson is working on a transfer window deal for the Atletico Madrid star.' Perhaps The People know something that Riquelme's current club, Villarreal, don't. From today's mediawatch on Football365. One of yours Nicko?

Mozzer Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 is there any early transfer news on who blackburn could be looking to bring in or any players that may leave come january..(i know its only early)..
they_think_its_all_rover Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 there was a site today suggesting Leroy Lita..... maybe if Benni doesnt shape himself? or if Fulham come back in for Roberts?
Mozzer Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 id like lita to come in a replace roberts, and somebody else to replace mcarthy.... i just think if roberts leaves, mcarthy will want to, and vice versa...
they_think_its_all_rover Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 I can see Fulham coming back in for Roberts, as Lawrie Sanchez mentioned he is desperate for a striker that is all about power, and his dream signing would be Emile Heskey... with Heskey out for a while and back in the England squad... I can't see him leaving Wigan. So, the next best thing...JR?
nicko Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Not that I would want to encourage betting, of course. But Betfair are offering 5/2 on 'any other score' on the Rovers game 'correct score' section tonight. In other words, you win if Rovers get four or more. I've just had some of mrs nicko's weekly allowance on - I think it is a decent price. If Rovers score early Larissa may fall apart and it could be anything. But, as Larissa are capable of scoring themselves, that would need Rovers to reach the magical four or more goals. You will get a run for your money on this one.
EwoodGlory Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 With Nelsen not playing maybe they will get 4 Do you know if Benni will be starting, or sticking with Santa and Derbs?
