LeftWinger Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I hope they don't escape the 10points deduction or my bet looks way off. I'm assuming you got 9-1. If you are worried about your bet (I'm not yet - still sounds like they're in trouble), why not lay them on betfair. They're 4-1 on betfair. So you can cover yourself at the moment.

nicko Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Robbie Savage will be out for a month at least...and that is hot off the presses. The unlucky chap needed a cartilage op, but it could have been a lot worse. The 'scope' camera suggests it was close to being a major ligament problem too, but he's escaped that. No doubt he will try to get back sooner, but I think it will be very late November or early December before he is back.
nicko Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Just a bit of news that may explain something else... Thought it had gone quiet on the two Costa Rican lads who were due over for trials. Discovered that their club have made the last four of Central America's equivalent of the Champions League. This would explain why they have not turned up. I would keep an eye out for those two appearing once they are out - and if they have a mid-season break.
Mozzer Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 nicko, with steven reid back in training-im just wondering if you have any idea what game he could feature in?? mokoena is an able replacement for savage...
LeftWinger Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 This is why we really need Reidy to get match fit ASAP - especially with Tugay soon to be eligible for a bus pass.
nicko Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I believe Steven Reid had a closed-door game last week, so they are pushing him to get fit. But Sav's injury maybe underlines that a midfield player should be on the shopping list in January. Mokoena will be on African Cup of Nations Duty and in all honesty Reidy is going to take a while to get back on the pace.

Apparently Sanchez is going to spend again in January and is determined to bring in a big striker....Jason Roberts?
Jan Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Apparently Sanchez is going to spend again in January and is determined to bring in a big striker....Jason Roberts? Oh you poor wee soul.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Apparently Sanchez is going to spend again in January and is determined to bring in a big striker....Jason Roberts? Hopefully not Chris Samba!
EwoodGlory Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Robbie Savage will be out for a month at least. Just what we need with Liverpool and Man Yoo coming up. I hope the Axe is fully fit and raring to go, don't fancy Dunny and Tugay in the middle in those 2 games.
philipl Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Not only Rovers have lost out this week-end. Liverpool have lost Torres to a muscle tear (probably 3 weeks) and Alonso for longer (another broken metatarsal) to add to Pennant (broken leg) last week. Mascherano who has been outstanding recently will probably recover in time for the Ewood visit as he is bruised, not broken. Man U have lost Paul Scholes for three months (Cruciate) whilst Carrick is not yet fully recovered West Ham- looks like Bellamey will be out for more time with abdominal muscle tears
herbergeehh Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Torres, Alonso and Pennant out is good news for us. Crouch hasn't created much trouble for us in the past, has he?
USRoverME Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I can't wait for the Crouch-Samba aerial battles
American Rover12 Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I can't wait for the Crouch-Samba aerial battles oh wow, i hadn't even thought of that, but that will be fantastic.
bluebruce Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 oh wow, i hadn't even thought of that, but that will be fantastic. Well there's only a two inch difference, and Samba can actually jump. I'd expect him to win.
Sandiway Blue Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I wish Just out of interest ffan,i know footy fans can be a bit biased towards players from their own team, but how do you rate chris samba? (i`m assuming of course you have read other parts of the message board and may have gathered we are rather taken with the big fella !)
Tris Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 West Ham- looks like Bellamey will be out for more time with abdominal muscle tears I assume he sustained this injury during one of his eye-popping, hand-gesturing rants against the officials who had the rudeness to flag him offside when he was. He really is an obnoxious toe rag.
HairwayToSteven Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Any chance of City going into administration soon if Thaksin Shinawatra is found guilty?
they_think_its_all_rover Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Mokoena will be on African Cup of Nations Duty and in all honesty Reidy is going to take a while to get back on the pace. When is the African Cup of Nations held from-til? Do you think Benni will go too? ...I think he'll stay with Rovers if we're in a position similar to what we are now... against Tottenham, you could tell how desperate he was to win that game... didnt look lazy at all... What's the Adam Pearson deal at Derby, Nicko? I know he got £10 mill off Duffen for Hull City... where he was great as chairman. I think he'll be good for Derby.
Grabbi Graeme Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 What about this Robert Kraft guy I know he has said he wants to buy a Premier League club, whats his story does any know anything about him
herbergeehh Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Robert Kraft Hardly a player for the future.

The ACN is from January 20 to February 10 in Ghana. It will also mean players have to be over there a week or more in advance. So it's going to be a long-ish break for Benni McCarthy and Aaron Mokoena. Fortunately Congo didn't make it. Adam Pearson's move is a bit odd. He was trying to buy the place last week and has now bought some of Gadbsy's shares for about £2.5 million and given himself a £500,000-a-year job as executive chairman. I would expect further developments. You will notice Trevor Birch left as chief executive recently...there is a lot more to that story than meets the eye. You might hear of a court case there shortly, so best to stay away from the subject. Even if it is tasty.
Ricky Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Nicko, another question. Have you heard anything more about the Coventry takeover??
nicko Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Like all takeovers, it takes time... But in Coventry's case I don't think they have much. I hope it isn't just propaganda to stop the club going into administration. Either way it is a very anxious time for them - and anybody who backed them for relegation.
