rover_groo Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 For what it's worth I don't see Bentley going anywhere. Firmly in contract, settled, had the best season of his career. Everton don't have the money, Newcastle have other priorities. I would not lose any sleep on that one... Agreed. He is extremely happy at Ewood and all we need is to push higher in the table and very importantly qualify and try to bring UEFA Cup to Lancashire. Then we'll all be happy and maybe this senior start for Bentley won't be too far away! End of!
they_think_its_all_rover Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Nicko can you give anymore clues about this mystery player? like... which country does his current club play in?
Saf Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 come on niko whos the player gives us a clue mate iv been sat next to my pc all day waiting, put me out of my misery
Wolverine Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Bentley is going nowhere. Not this season anyway. He is looking forward to payback against Psycho and has no intention of leaving Sparky who as stood by him and with him against Psycho and McClaren...

rover_groo Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Nicko can you give anymore clues about this mystery player? like... which country does his current club play in? What about Johan Elmander from Toulouse FC. The Swedish forward caught my attention from last season and most notably his performance against Northern Ireland a few months ago. Seems to be more than capable of finding the net where ever he goes. I would imagine that a big move will come within the next while for this player. Any Swedish board users care to shed any further light??
92er Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 I will give you a major clue about the foreign possible when I can. I understand the non-stop hunger for stories, that's what makes the game and newspapers interesting. But in this case it is touchy. This is a very lively and therefore newsy time. I gave you info because I also feel the papers are either slow or disinterested. The Toddy/Brown incident proved that. But you can't go away and sulk, you just come up with a better one next time. I know that as it is my living. It is good to realise that people are keen to know the score. And I'm not bothered with stick...I get enough at home! You live or die by the quality of your tales. Seem to have survived to a ripe old age so far. Will let you know what I know until I get one totally wrong and then we end it. Sound like a deal? Don't give up after only getting 1 wrong!!
modes98 Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Don't give up after only getting 1 wrong!! Just don't give up, as many before you have. Whether you get it spot on or not you will get stick from some people, that's life. You have to take the information for what it is, rumours and chinese whispers. Keep it coming Nicko.

Any Swedish board users care to shed any further light?? He'd be a great signing I think, his style of play works just as well in England as anywhere else so that wouldn't be a problem. He's not a goal machine though, he's a forward rather than a striker. More of a Rooney than a RvN. I think he'd be a real fan favourite too if he came, with his combination of skill and excellent work ethic. That being said, I'm pretty sure he's not the player nicko is talking about. Toulouse are in the Champions League, and he's only been there for one season. I think he'll stay at least one more season. EDIT: Yeah, definitely not the guy. It's a "very big" club, and I don't see how anyone would call Toulouse a very big, or even big, club. My money, for what it's worth, is on Giuly or Gudjohnsen from Barca.

USABlue Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 My money, for what it's worth, is on Giuly or Gudjohnsen from Barca. Hasn't Eidjur already said he wants to stay at Barca?
Lathund Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Hasn't Eidjur already said he wants to stay at Barca? Didn't Bellamy say there was no clause? Although, it's not Eidur. But for the reason that there's no doubt who his agent is. I'll stick by Guily though.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 I originally thought Guily too.... but since I cant find the original page on Skysports and the fact that his agent said he doesnt want to come to England.
1864roverite Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Why would Everton want to spend 8m on Bentley when they have Arteta ? Middlesboro are a poor outfit Newcastle just wish they could actually be called Blackburn Rovers such is their interest in our club and in any case they have Milner and Duff. Sunderland ? Yes I can surely see them being able to clout Rovers for Bentley's signature NOT. Of the big 4, Chelsea are loaded in midfield and are signing Maloiuda on Sunday, Arsenal got rid of him and liverpoo have a glut of players who can operate on the right namely kuyt, Gerrard and Pennant and maure have Clownaldo, nani and Anderson who can all play on the right. If we take the next tier of clubs that Rovers feature heavily in there would be only Spurs or Villa that could levy the 8m fee and what exactly would they offer Bentley ? Spurs offer the bench and part time player whilst Villa offer only a hope of European football. I for one see no other club being able to offer Bentley what Rovers can.
Roar of the Rover Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 newcastle and our old buddies.... west ham. i can see benni ending up at wham, but not bentley. Just like you thought Bellamy was going to end up with us??
1864roverite Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 My wife has some serious contacts in business with Marstons Breweries who sponsor Derby and all the talk is of Todd going to Derby. The hold up is nothing to do with the fee or payment arrangements, it would appear the Rovers have set their sights on Giles Barnes, who,if we are to believe the press, we were heavily linked with in January. I wonder if there is a swap deal plus cash/players on loan in the offing?

bellamy11 Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Never in a million years and Derby knnow full well they'll never survive in this league without him. Where would he play? Doesn't he normally play on the right hand side where Dave operates?
Wolverine Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 I for one see no other club being able to offer Bentley what Rovers can. Exactly his own thoughts.

Sorry but Kout is never, in a million years, a right midfielder. In my mind, they only have Gerrard and Pennant. I don't think they'll go for Bentley, but they are the only realistic option.
pick32 Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 give them todd jeffers and 1 or 2million for giles barnes and we could always throw in enks.
