nicko Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Any tips for the burnley job nicko ? Are Leicester and Wigan close to appointing anyone ? I believe Burnley are looking for a big name. I will let you do the gag... Leicester are talking to Tigana, would like Dowie to quit and hope Joe Royle does not look patience with the whole farce. Wigan are a bit stuffed. I said not to back McLeish and Pearce until they were declared runners and the word I have is that neither of them want it...
Hughesy Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 There are a number of people that get overlooked or just get put in because of thier reputation, its a joke!
Dunnfc Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Martin Allen to Burnley? Paul Jewell or Simon Grayson to Wigan?
MarkBRFC Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 I don't remember too much disapproval regarding the Warnock signing but I don't remember one Rovers fan thinking bringing in Brad to replace John Filan (player of the year the previous season) to be a good move. Especially as we also had Alan Kelly as well at the time. Dickov was also roundly criticised but did very well for the club for little outlay. Shame he was deemed as replacing Cole who was a favourite with many fans. A lot of people on this site slated the move with the "if he's not good enough for Liverpool why are we signing him" attitude. Dont know if that thread is still about or not.
Cheshireblue Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 I can tell who won't be Burnleys next manager, or indeed Wigan's for that matter, and that is Alan Shearer. God knows where these rumours start.
1864roverite Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 My tip for the big job is Billy the toilet cleaner from the town centre of bumley. He is very experienced when it comes to dealing with shyte
RevidgeBlue Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 I believe Burnley are looking for a big name. I will let you do the gag... Ok then, seeing as no-one else has.......................... Sadly both Zurab Khizanishvili and Jan Venegoor of Hesselink have indicated to Barry Kilby and Brendan Flood that neither are interested in the role of player manager..............

USABlue Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Any tips for the burnley job nicko ? I've got one - DON'T TAKE IT! I'd take it heh heh.
nicko Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 I don't think Burnley know themselves yet, but there will be a host of names out in the morning no doubt. Pleased to see the sale of the star teenager went through...for those with long memories that came out on September 23. Ther should be a small Rovers transfer tale in the morning, a Scottish club sniffing round a couple of your reserves for January. Interesting, no more than that.

I wonder if that could be Dunfermline? I have been speaking to Jim Leishman recently and asked him to contact Rovers regarding players training and fitness that DAFC have huge problems with. It is possible that they have enquired about player loans as well as I know they are currently seeking to bring two more loan players in.
thenodrog Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Do you get a commision on sales heh heh Great minds USA. But I was thinking more along the lines of a finders fee.
nicko Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Great minds USA. But I was thinking more along the lines of a finders fee. Found two players who were top scorers in the Scottish Division One for three seasons running for a mate of mine once. The clubs sold them both at a big profit. Still waiting for a 'thank you' letter never mind a finder's fee...

I wasn't think of inapproriate and vulgar financial rewards ......... more in terms of exclusives and scoops.
nicko Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Good heavens Alan .... I wasn't think of inapproriate and vulgar financial rewards ......... more in terms of exclusives and scoops. Got the stories thanks, got my mate two top players at two different clubs and had the deep enjoyment of seeing them scoring every week. But, like I say, that was as far as it went. You Scottish correspondent should be able to find the names of the players/clubs and manager. It should while away a grey afternoon. No cash prizes for getting it right either, btw.
John Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Nicko, with Scotland playing Italy next Saturday in a win or bust match, it could be that Wigan are holding out for McLeish? (should Scotland not go through). Any interesting stories kicking around tommorrow?

(should Scotland not go through). Any interesting stories kicking around tommorrow? McLeish won't be going to Wigan, he's had the chance and said 'no.' Got a decent Mascherano story - his agent is working very hard to take him to Manchester City. I don't think Liverpool are entirely sure about him - or the fee. Bolton WILL sell Anelka in January, but they want £15 million. I would love to tell you more about the potential Pakistani takeover. But the agent doing the deal does not want to speak to me...
ally Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Blackburn after Nelson Cuevas Tribalfootball is not the most accurist football website there is and we may only be linked with him becuase he is Paraguayan. Not sure if we need another striker but if he's a freebie.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 I was just about to post that... even though it is Tribal Football, all they've done is taken the reports from Skysports.com so there could be something in it? ...you heard anything Nicko?

Not sure if we need another striker but if he's a freebie. At the time I thought the Axe was retained to keep Benni happy so this might be a tactic of the mgment team to provide mates for their international nomads. Might be jumping the gun a bit but it might mean Jason Roberts will be allowed to move on in Jan. errrr as opposed to 'move in on' Jan....... no offence intended of course Jan.

Portsmouth wanted him and still do. Last week's Sunday People. Nuremberg in Germany are trying at the moment. He could join them for nothing in January. Plenty of agents involved, so it is messy. Not sure he will be a Rovers priority, but you never know. He is willing to come on trial. Not sure he is THAT good anyway. Dundee United are interested in Kane and Judge, by the way. Levein at ressies last week, liked them when he was watching Joe Garner. Obviously he is a reasonable spotter of a player as Garner has been a success at Carlisle.
