nicko Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Apparently he's dismissed the reports he's going to Burnley... http://sport.scotsman.com/football.cfm?id=1827262007 You can believe the Scotsman or you can believe the Scotsman...it's up to you.

nicko Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Been all over the dingle boards for a while, nowt special picking it out. If you can find it anywhere before last Thursday at 10.45 in the morning [message 5104] then I would love to know...
LDRover Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Been all over the dingle boards for a while, nowt special picking it out. You sure about that USA? I work with a dingle devotee of Clarets Mad and the rest of the apes boards and he hadn't a clue about Coyle until I tipped him the wink.
Hasta Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Brilliant choice, but I'm biased. A real football man who will get them going big-time. I realise it will wind up a few, but I think they just made their best signing for years. As I said before it's a real rivalry when you play a team and not just taunt them. And I think he will get them up while he is there. He'll not get them up this year as their players aren't good enough. If Coyles as good as you reckon then he'd be looking at getting burnley heading towards promotion by May 2009. And if that looks likely then as a young upcoming manager proving himself in England a Premiership club in the current state of Wigan or Birmingham will snap him up. Burnley will either be Coyle's waterloo or his stepping stone. Either way the gap isn't closing and it's still no nay never.
American Rover12 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Happy with this as at least Owen Coyles name fits in better than Peter Reids to no nay never. So true. I think that's the point every one is missing here.
USABlue Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Seen reports on the Pie and whatever board as early as the 16th which is a day after Thursday so I give you that closet clarrot. heh heh

nicko Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 On a totally different theme... Young Welshman Royston Griffiths could be going out on loan to Oldham. Big, talented kid but needs to get first-team experience badly. The deal should be sorted in the next few days. He is there just now. With Hodge at Millwall it sounds like they are making way for fresh midfield blood coming through...

What position does this griffiths play??? is he highly rated by hughes??? on the rovers website it says he is austrailian??
1864roverite Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Owen, Owen Coyle. Has a Burnley manager ever been serenaded on these boards before... Brilliant choice, but I'm biased. A real football man who will get them going big-time. I realise it will wind up a few, but I think they just made their best signing for years. As I said before it's a real rivalry when you play a team and not just taunt them. And I think he will get them up while he is there. Mr Nickson, as much as I admire your quality snippets I have to put you firmly in the place those comments belong. YOU ARE HAVING A LAUGH Whatever makes you think Coyle can take bumley to the promised land of the Premiership ? Where is his experience of English management ? What skills and expertise of coaching does Owen have ? What makes you think bumley have the backing to make it into the top 3 of their respective league ? I have to admit as I woke up and read the above posts I had a chuckle and even decided that I was so happy I would take the wife put for her dinner :!: Coyle+Burnley = Premiership ?? Its an equation that will never have a solution
eddiewac Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 According to skysports breaking news, St Johnstone have refused to give burnley permission to talk to Coyle so how can he have the job??
trs Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 According to skysports breaking news, St Johnstone have refused to give burnley permission to talk to Coyle so how can he have the job?? Probably just get a little messy before the deal is done. Are St johnstone not due to play in a cup final this weekend?
LDRover Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 No I made it up, duh? Thanks for that. 'Been all over the dingle boards for a while, nowt special picking it out.' - USA Blue All I did was thank Nicko for his 'scoop' yet you said it was hardly that because it had been all over the dingle boards. You then went on to retract this later in the thread by admitting that Nicko was the first to reveal Coyle's name. 'If you can find it anywhere before last Thursday at 10.45 in the morning [message 5104] then I would love to know...' - nicko 'Seen reports on the Pie and whatever board as early as the 16th which is a day after Thursday so I give you that closet clarrot. heh heh' - USA Blue Not wanting to be pedantic here but my point was that Nicko was the originator of Coyle's name, I didn't question that it was on the Burnley message board, only that it was on after Nicko's revelation and as such those who had profited from the info should be thankful. duh?
RevidgeBlue Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Bottom line is it was another cracking scoop from nicko. The LT internet site has been updated now but, laughing my wotsits off at this morning's edition of the LT which simply repeats what nicko said, i.e. that the LT "understands" they were down to a shortlist of two, Coyle and Reid for the job. Even then faced with a 50/50 coin flip, handed to them on a plate, they plump for the wrong one alleging Reid was "strong favourite". Pity Reid didn't get it as he was allegedly planning to bring Adrian Heath with him as no 2. A fairly nightmarish combination. Probably just a case of sorting out a level of compensation St. Johnstone are happy with now. Should be no problem for a man of Flood's alleged worth. Would be very funny if it all fell through though.
nicko Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 What position does this griffiths play??? is he highly rated by hughes??? on the rovers website it says he is austrailian?? Must be from New South Wales? Possibly my mistake...he's talented, plays wide but is now settling in the middle. A bit like a slim Jan Molby in style, likes to play a pass and looks the part.
Mozzer Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Must be from New South Wales? Possibly my mistake...he's talented, plays wide but is now settling in the middle. A bit like a slim Jan Molby in style, likes to play a pass and looks the part. so maybe after his loan spell he could look to coming back and trying to break into the first team or getting on the bench??? what about this bryan hodge-is he rated by mark hughes??
nicko Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Mr Nickson, as much as I admire your quality snippets I have to put you firmly in the place those comments belong. I have to admit as I woke up and read the above posts I had a chuckle and even decided that I was so happy I would take the wife put for her dinner :!: Coyle+Burnley = Premiership ?? Its an equation that will never have a solution Right...Burnley are four points off the top six and have a game in hand against QPR. A win takes them 8th. If you have seen Owen Coyle's sides or know the guy as a person and a coach you would realise he is top drawer. He will have what is a very decent squad playing better and attractive football. He also has a good eye for a player and will strengthen, possibly by the end of the week. I have already put my money where my mouth is and backed them to go up via the play-offs. At 20 to 1 I thought it was sheer value. I may lose, but I think the rest of the season may be fun for your country cousins. As for the compensation delay I think that will be sorted.
nicko Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 so maybe after his loan spell he could look to coming back and trying to break into the first team or getting on the bench??? what about this bryan hodge-is he rated by mark hughes?? I think Griffiths will get another year or so to impress. He needs games, so a loan is a good idea. The Scottish kid Hodge is probably going to move on sooner. He is quite stylish too, a poor man's Nicky Butt, but might not make it at Rovers. I would take a chance on him down the leagues though.
1864roverite Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Okay Alan, I admire your bravado in backing bumley to get promotion. You are clearly deluded and will be considered a unique entity as you are the only person from outsie of dingleland backing the trolls from t'oer hills to go up. I tell you what, a sportsmans bet. Should your bet come true I will vow to purchase the mirror every day for a year !! It wont happen in my lifetime and I would like to see at least another 40 years of Bumley hate for Rovers. I have enjoyed numerous derbies with the dingles since the 70's and I do miss them. It wont happen again unless they are fortunate to make past round 3 in the cups in the future.
nicko Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I tell you what, a sportsmans bet. Should your bet come true I will vow to purchase the mirror every day for a year !! Tell you what, if I get that bet up I'll buy you the Mirror every day for a year...
yoda Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Right...Burnley are four points off the top six and have a game in hand against QPR. A win takes them 8th. Burnley can't afford the compensation, so maybe the deal is dead, pity, it would have been nice to stuff the Dingles again next season,
modes98 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Right...Burnley are four points off the top six and have a game in hand against QPR. A win takes them 8th. Once cov into administration then they will be in a better position! Dingles won't go up, i can see them making the playoffs at best, normally they have a mid-season slump and then hit form come the end of the season. Black's odds for brum manager have shortened today, i assume that's because they have no idea who they want and he is the most obvious. I've gone a bit out there and put a few quid on Coleman at 20/1, either him or McLeish for me. The other names on the list aren't worth shouting about, maybe Jewell at a push.
