Right thats it, I've bitten my tongue for long enough...

I dont know why everyone is complaining, and slagging the lad off before he has even pulled on the blue and white halves.

Hughes doesnt make many bad signings, and the ones he has done are ones that have not quite worked out, but not lost us a great deal of money i.e. Nonda on loan, Jeffers free....

Its all very well and good looking at his past record but maybe RSC just needs a change of scenery, and a new club will help his form.

Lets remember, we signed Samba from Hertha Berlin... he couldnt even get in their reserves!!! Now he is one of the best defenders in the prem. Maybe RSC's game is more suited to the prem, like Samba?

Trust Hughes, have faith and get behind him and help him settle in...then we will hopefully reap the rewards!

What did people want us to do, sign Chopra for £5m ?!!

I like the fact that Hughes has recognise we are missing a good attacking player to get his head to the ball when the likes of Pedersen or Bentley cross it in.

Santa Clause has the potential to be a top class player and im sure Rovers can help him achieve that.

I'm excited about the signing. Not seen the guy play much but if he is decent in the air he is going to thrive on the supply from MGP and Bentley with Benni picking up the pieces. If I had to pick one to go it would be Roberts as Santa Cruz seems like a very similar player.

Some people would say yes purely because we are spending money.

Hughes is fantastic in the transfer market. Just because he doesn't go out and spend £5m or £10m on a player doesn't mean that he won't have the same or a better impact on the Premierleague. Looking at Benni Mc, £2.5m and he out scored every player but 1 last season. S

pend the money on keeping Hughes and he will spend the right amount, on the right player, at the right moment.

i dont think he'll be the last forward in either, but cant say anymore at the moment.

i dont mean we'll be signing another forward today.

what do you mean??

for another striker to come in, another striker would have to leave...

strikeforce- roberts, rigters, derbyshire, mcarthy, roque santa cruz, if another striker came in that would 6 strikers(7 including gallagher), so whats happening?? is someone leaving, like mcarthy or roberts..

all i'll say mozzer, is.... it depends what offers come in for certain strikers before the end of the window.

sizable offers are muted, so i understand.

that doesnt mean we'll accept them, of course.

Me thinks someone is listening to Black Holes and Revelations :)

back on topic, never seen Cruz play but if hes good enough for Hughes then im all for it

Santa Cruz will be Hughes's most expensive signing as a manager. Puts some of the other fees being bandied about at the moment into perspective.

This is a tremendous signing and the Chopra comparisson immediately comes to mind.

Yes there is a gamble element but Bayern were not playing the lad as a true striker for a lot of the time. He went 1600 minutes without scoring but he was obviously a crucial player to be picked every game during that barren run.

Previously, I had always seen Roque as a bit of a softy and therefore a weak link at Bayern. That side of him will be sternly tested in the EPL.

Provided he doesn't do what MGP used to do- drift out of the game completely after taking a "testing" challenge, I think Roque will come good (as will the ladies who come down to Ewood to gaze at him). Who needs Andy Todd?

That Daily Mail quote is also in the LT. Obviously Jeffers is up for sale.

Just a highly seditious thought, if Sparky thinks he might get £20m+ for Benny in this daft market, perhaps he would take it and buy some of the players he has now got a feel of what he could get in this market? As I said, seditious.

Not that I am about to stick up for Chopra but you have to remember he bagged over 20 goals last year. I know it was for a championship side but thats still very good. Yes 5m is steep but he could be another Darren Bent.

£15 or £20 million for Benni would have to be snapped up. He is 30 this year and his 2nd season in the prem will be much harder as clubs will try to mark him out of games.

However soon that wont matter because the wingers will bang it over Benni's head to Santa Claus at the back stick with the header!

Eh? Jason Roberts plays for Rovers you know. So does Benni Mcarthy.

HAVE YOU SEEN HIS SCORING RECORD??

Did you hear about his attitude last season?

I wish him all the best, but if this is our big summer signing I'm really really really underwhelmed.

That is all

Hughes could never get £20m for Benni. I think Santa Cruz's signing will spell the end for Roberts, with Rigters already a ready-made replacement. Hughes's comments imply that someone will almost certainly be leaving, aside from Jeffers.

Call me pessamistic. But i'm getting worried about the players we sign.

At the moment The Premiership is the best league in the world with buckets of money being thrown at players.

But after we had Bellemy for 1 season. The we got Benni and after his first season says he'd love to play for mourinhio again. And now it looks like Santa Cruz is comming.

Does anybody else feel like these players are using Rovers as a shop window?

Yes but both are Merde in the Air! Thats what Hughes was saying we are lacking!

I think players are using us as a shop window. But you're never going to have a nice shop if you don't try and display something decent in your window. I'd rather have players like Benni McCarthy and Santa Cruz in my shop window than Beattie.

I reckon most players that arrive at Blackburn sees us as a stepping stone to something better. That is called ambition, and I have no problem with players wanting to play for the best clubs and be involved in the champions league. If every player that we sign show a hughe amount of ambition and determination then that will take Blackburn Rovers football club to another level.
