nicko
By the way nicko - why has the press / media all but ignored the fact that we have something to play for on Sunday? I'm not having a go. Do Sky get a suitcase full of porn every time they turn up at Gold's house these days? I've not read them all, but I can see why there would be more focus on Birmingham than yourselves on Sunday. They could go down, disaster season, etc. It's more a life-and-death story than your situation. The chance of finishing in the InterToto and winning people money for their Top 6 bets is secondary to that. Console yourselves by beating them...the headlines don't really affect what happens on the pitch.
philipl
I think the point is that the Media is generally commenting that Rovers have nothing to play for and thereby implying we will already be on our holidays at St Andrews. This is not only being extremely unfair to Rovers' fans but misleading the fans of Birmingham, Fulham and Reading as well, not forgetting the fans of Villa whom we are battling with for that Intertoto slot and extra £725K. rover6
Thing is, don't Mourinho, Pellegrini and Scolari all have in common a defensive mindset when it comes to tactics? Perhaps, that is a major put-off for the purists that support and run Barca.
bob fleming
I think the point is that the Media is generally commenting that Rovers have nothing to play for and thereby implying we will already be on our holidays at St Andrews. That's exactly the point I was trying to make. No matter. I agree that the possible relgation of Birmingham is a bigger story, after all they are a Big Club as we all know and of course they regularly like to point that out. We should be used to going about our business quietly and with a minimum of fuss by now anyway. If I'm honest I wouldn't want it any other way. thenodrog
There is only one way to find out... We have THREE LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG MONTHS coming up... Enough time to get em both round the 400m track? Why do that Shillitoe football pitches are only just over 100yds long? Pace (like Lennon's) is a deceiving commodity in football. I rem Cloughie euologising about Glenn Hoddle's quality. Along the lines of 'He's not fast but he doesn't need to be because the first yard is in his head.' thenodrog
On the radio today they asked whether Rovers had anything to play for. Unbelievably they said no and moved on to Birmingham. No surprise that the BBC don't mention Intertoto either SSSSHHHHH everybody! Since mine and Jans emailed complaints of a fortnight ago I can reveal that the Beeb are now firmly on our side and staffed solely by BRFC fans! All the incorrect press releases are a complete subterfuge to fool O'Neill and his Villains into believing that they are already in Europe and dont need any sort of result tomorrow at WHU! Lurid Coat
Derby midfielder Robbie Savage has said it would an "amazing fairytale" if Blackburn beat Birmingham on Sunday and send them down. (The Sun)
roversmum
I was just about to say something similar, theno. Fool Birmingham into thinking we have nothing to play for and they will expect us to roll over for them....I am hoping the lads are straight up and at 'em and no mucking about this time. RibbleValleyRover
Nicko anymore news on the Bradley situation? Any new clubs interested? or have any clubs made a strong move for him?
nicko
Nicko anymore news on the Bradley situation? Any new clubs interested? or have any clubs made a strong move for him? The last I heard Heerenveen wanted £4 million or so. They were hoping for an auction, but one is yet to begin. Everton are interested but not at that price. They are also looking at other players and have to resolve the Carsley contract situ. Rovers will have their vauation too, but the manager seems to be looking around before he decides. If a club bids the others will react. That's the way it stands just now...but this is going to be a very volatile summer. Most places...
Commondore
Mourinho is EXTREMELY likely to cause problems on his own at a club like Barcelona, while someone like Guardiola could just follow the lead of Laporta and in some cases even the players. With the kind of players Barcelona have in their squad you don't really need someone on the bench to control their every move, you would be better off with someone just sitting there and being a friend, who knows what it's like to play for a top club and your country. Dunnfc
Its ok him saying comments like that but weve still got to play for europe, and well his comments might somewhat galvanise a Birmingham side looking to win to stay up.

I think you disproved your own argument there. If the staying up thing doesn't galvanise them I doubt Sav's comments will make too much of a difference. rover6
That makes me so glad I sung his name last Saturday! Goodonyer Super Rob! I'm just trying to get my brain around the level of hate that Brum fans must feel for Savage. It must be somewhere near the madness that would rage here if Barry Ferguson said that he would like to see Blackburn relegated.
nicko
There is some quite big Bentley news about to break...all the details in the morning if they have not appeared in black and white in the People. Call it a plug or a tease, I'm not caring. After Bristol City's 5 to 1 success today I am in a dashed fine mood.
