Laudrup would be a dream replacement. I can't see it happening though.

We have some serious points in our favour e.g. Got an overall solid squad, midfield the only area that really needs major strengthening and we are playing in the best league in the world.

Mr Hughes, you have tucked yourself up good and proper. Enjoy the ride - I'm still willing to bet we finish above them (again) next season.

Plus we'd be a stepping stone for that next big job

It all comes down to money again though, and us having none. Still, I'd absolutely love it if we could get him, absolutely love it.

Confirmed by Rovers now too. Hughes has signed a 3 year deal with City.

If he'd had gone chelsea/man utd i'd have said

fair enough! But City FFS!it just shows hes proved me wrong

by being everything i thought he wasnt!

*Greedy <_<

*Un-loyal

*NOB ED!

I wouldn't mind Michael Laudrup at all, and I see no reason why he wouldn't come to us if he was willing to manage Getafe.

Thanks for the constant updates on the City Cirkus Nicko - appreciated.

Totally lost respect for the man.

i like mark hughes-hes done a great job for us

ive lost abit of respect for him tho-i know he may want a new challenge, but man city-like someone said, man utd or chelsea i could deal with-but man city

i think the only reason he is going there is so he can spend 30-40million-who in the right mind would work under such a owner..

Well first of all you have to say thanks to Sparky, he's left the club in great shape for sure.

Just a bit of a kick in the balls for him to go to Man City.

Laudrup would be the one for me, although its probably unrealistic.

We just know its gonna be Big Sam.

I would point out that the quote was Hughes's, it was some other City bod. Just makes it funnier though - its as if they're trying to tell him how lucky he is already. I hope they bomb together, Souey/Newcastle style.

Now we can put the Souness v Hughes arguments to bed. The facts speak for themselves; Souness (for all his faults) was a far more successful Rovers manager than Hughes was.

Rubbish, so let's get it out of bed again.

Souness was fortunate to win the league cup with a talented squad that he was lucky enough to inherit and then dismantled before jumping ship with the club heading rapidly for relegation. The club was alot weaker when he left than when he arrived.

Hughes inherited a poor squad full of dispirited players that he slowly transformed into a talented team that has finished in the top 10 for the past 3 seasons. Hughes leaves the club in a much stronger position that he found it.

End of story.

and at least we might stop bringing 'the axe' on for the last 5 mins every week, see there is a sliver lining to every grey cloud :D

The best oppurtunity in world football eh? No wonder he went. Bet he's glad Chelsea didn't come in at the last minute afterall <_<

Looking forward to watching him sweat and squirm when form dips and Frankie starts acting up.

Hear Hear!

Life goes on so lets be thankful we're in pretty good shape, and lets put some faith in JW etc so get us the right man for the job!

I actually feel almost tearful at the thought of Hughes going to city. Knowing he'll go and seeing him go there are 2 very different things. It may be time for us to move on and I can accept that but it's a bit like the end of any relationship; you need time to get over it. Have all the backroom staff gone with him or is there separate deals to be sorted there? Will they regret following him if it all goes wrong in a few months?

Now that Hughes has buggered off (cheers for some good years and leaving us in better shape than when you came in, btw), I'm sure the bickering in the higher reaches of the Chelski board will zero in on a manager now and bring that circus to a close.

Don't think they'll be much coverage from lil ol' Rovers point of view about Hughes' departure in the media somehow.
