Amo Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Lampard will have a field day with Brown, judging from Tottenham's second goal. For the love of God, give Bunn a chance.
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Huge blow to the team especially with the Dingle game coming up soon.
FourLaneBlue Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 You cant surely believe he had long left if our winless run continued?! Fortunatley for all he turned it around and got the dressing room back, pulling in one direction and results picked up! Stop trying to get away from the point of the chat. You said... Last week the hero, this week the Villian. Another week in the life of Blackburn Rovers I was just pointing out the pot-kettle-black nature of that statement. People in glass houses...
deryck guyler's spoon Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 As soon as Brown came on the crowd started booing him. When I met up with with my Spurs mate after the game he said their section was singing 'You're just a fat Timmy Howard' Only Tottingham fans could refer to Tim Howard as "Timmy".
modes98 Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 According to Gary Speed, Bunn has been recalled. BBC gossip put him in line to start at Chelsea.
Muddboy Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 The Chelsea game is the perfect fixture for giving Bunn a try. There's no pressure on him and that should work in his favour. He deserves a chance.
Pedderz0912 Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 They only thing I wouldn't want to see is Bunn do a bad mistake costing us a point or even 2 or 3.... and then is confidence go staright down hill as I feel he will be a fantastic keeper in a few years and be our number 1.... I have a sheff utd fan at work like and he has said he has been fairly consistent and got man of match at least 3-4 home games already A few mistakes but he said he will be as good as Robbo he reckons - So If he does start lets get behind him and come up with a really good chant. Any takers?
67splitscreen Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 Sorry Jason, but you'll never be an agile keeper with that build. Wonder if Burnley would like him to replace their old flying pig with a younger model

Exiled_Rover Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 I'd play him. We're going to concede a baker's dozen anyway.
broadsword Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 I really really don't want to see Brown in goal against the Dingle hordes. I'd much much rather see Bunn in goal - at least he's been playing first team football regularly, albeit at a lower level. Brown reminds me of the beast a little bit, and I can just see him letting in a soft goal right near the end to gift the Milltown Munters a soft win. Blooming Nora, Brown's 5'11" and 15 and a half stones. A tad on the heavy side for a goalie methinks.
Backroom Tom Posted March 17, 2010 Backroom Posted March 17, 2010 Brown has always taken undue criticism imo. He may have been poor at weekend but has always done a solid job when called upon I think, at Hull last season he pulled off some superb saves late on and got us a vital win and I remember world class saves vs United that time and Everton I think it was. And it's not just him that has conceded poorly from low shots this season, Robbo has had plenty of those. His kicking is poor though.
Ozz Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Those people who state they would rather have Bunn in goal than Brown, how many have actually seen Bunn play? I would suggest Brown is the best bet for replacing Robinson.

I would suggest Brown is the best bet for replacing Robinson. Living where I do, I've seen him play 20 or 30 times for Northampton. Trust me, he can do a very, very good job for us if he's given a chance.
Ozz Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 What would you say his strengths and weaknesses are then?
Muddboy Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 What would you say his strengths and weaknesses are then? Bunn is an excellent shot stopper – very agile and sharp – and his kicking is superb. The only limitation he has is that he's only six feet tall – not particularly imposing for a goalkeeper. That's the reason he was released by Spuds as a youngster. They said he was too short to make it.
modes98 Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Those people who state they would rather have Bunn in goal than Brown, how many have actually seen Bunn play? I've seen enough of Brown to know that he isn't good enough at this level. I've seen Bunn on Championship round ups all year and he has looked pretty decent. Not sure he is world beater but if I were a defender I would be much more confident with him between the sticks.
Ozz Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I have read a few reports on Bunn now, and they all seem to think he's a decent keeper. But he has not played a lot of games for a 25 year old. I personally think Brown is a decent keeper, and is being made a scapegoat for the soft one he let in on Saturday. That's the only time he has disappointed me when I've seen him play. I would be amazed if Bunn starts ahead of Brown on Sunday, and if he does then Browns days are numbered.

I would be amazed if Bunn starts ahead of Brown on Sunday, and if he does then Browns days are numbered. I think you'll find Brown has played less games than Bunn, is two years older and became a pro three years earlier. Based on the fact that Bunn has played 35 games in the Championship this season and generally given a good account of himself, I think it would be a retrograde step to play Brown this weekend. I'm not judging Brown on the soft goal he conceded at Spurs. I just think we've got a much better all round keeper in Bunn and I reckon he should be given a shot. He could be the future of Rovers between the sticks. I think we all accept that Brown isn't.

Ozz Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Brown has played in 129 league games in total. Bunn up to the star of this season played 92, plus what ever Sheff Utd have given him so it won't be a lot in it. I just think Brown has more experience. I would be delighted if Bunn is "the future of Rovers between the sticks", it would save us a wad of cash in a big transfer fee. But still mighty surprised if Bunn starts on Sunday!

It is pretty close according to Soccerbase Brown: 146 starts and 4 sub appearances (although this doesn't include 2 wales caps) Bunn: 144 starts and 1 sub appearance (although this doesn't include 12 starts for Kettering on loan) Much of a muchness.
