leftfooter Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 That can't be right. We have it on impeccable authority from the know-alls on this board that in fact the players are now less fit than Jack Duckworth (or indeed Vera) and that Karl Robinson is nothing more than Ince's bumboy. There's no doubt we will get a quick benefit from having a vastly experienced manager to a novice, and I hope he will act quickly to defenestrate the Brockhall Deep Throat (I suspect Warnock) Nice analogy EIT. Only problem is that most on here associate 'Deep Throat' with the Linda Lovelace version, not the Watergate one...

SamTheShrew Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 As expected, a cold but professional press conference by Allardyce. At least he isn't kissing up to anyone by referring to the club as "his team", and is keeping things strictly professional. This is a job he will do and get out as quickly as he can. Which might be what some people want, but it does rise questions as to the long-term direction of the club. glass half empty or half full. I saw a very good, confident press conference from someone who looks very happy to be in the job, and sounds like he knows exactly how to go about getting what he wants. I saw more professionalism in the fifteen minutes he spoke than in the whole six months Ince was in charge. I for one feel very confident in my team now; something that I have not felt since the day Ince was appointed. I haven't bothered to post in the last few weeks as anything I could add to the topic had been covered numerous times by hundreds of people. Towards the end Ince's regime just left me dismayed and apathetic. It got to the point where I genuinely didn't feel like I cared. Now I feel like I have reason to. We will win on Saturday, and we will take it from there Big Sam is exactly what we need, and there was no better appointment for where we are today Deal with it, and get behind your team
AllRoverAsia Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Never thought I'd see the day. He's made for it.
CrazyIvan Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I didn't see a 'cold' Sam Allardyce at all. I guess if you watch something with dark 'glasses' on (as opposed to rose tinted spectacles) everything looks black...

Is Mr. E. some sort of tw*t?
Presty On Tour Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I thought it was an excellent press conference. BFS dealt with the questions with style although I was surprised he spoke to the BBC press. He clearly understands the situation and what is needed and for someone looking excited to getting started should spread a feel good atmosphere around Ewood again. I also thought JW spoke very well, he dealt with mainly the facts Ince hadn't won in 3 months and his 1st priority is BRFC and it's future.
SamTheShrew Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I'm the first to admit that I wasn't supportive of Ince. I was in the 'underwhelmed' camp from the start, and I, like many felt that we should have gone for Laudrup. I'm like any rovers fan, I want as much success as possible, and i thought Laudrup would have been the best for us at the time. Former European player of the year etc, I was thrilled that he would even be interested! I will also admit that I was anti-BFS in the summer as a consequence. But that time where we could go for a big name or experiment has gone, and sadly, gone wrong. Our situation has changed, and I genuinely believe there is no-one better at putting us back on the map right now than BFS. We need to become hard to beat, organised, and play with some passion. He will give this to us. I'd take the Stoke game tonight if I could. I love supporting Rovers, I love that we are the little team that everyone hates, and I love giving them a reason to hate us! We are a real football club, with real fans who genuinely care about their club, and It's a shame that the Ince regime divided us as a colllective. But this only happened as we only want what is best for this club, and have different individual perspectives of how this is achieved. Ultimately, It feels good to be able to say that I am confident of avoiding relegation, but that is a bonus on just having hope! Onwards and Upwards
John Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Hull boss Phil Brown is 'almost convinced' Blackburn's troubles are behind them after appointing his mentor Sam Allardyce to the helm.
alexanders Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Anywhere I can find the Press conference on video ?

Why don't you go and support a bigger club down the the road in Manchester? At least then you can't be hurt by managers succeeding at our little club. It was an excellent press conference and a huge relief to see someone show such confidence in charge after the last few months' efforts from Ince.
mark1875 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Anywhere I can find the Press conference on video ? can only find it on setanta's website pal http://www.setanta.com/uk/Videos/football/...ess-Conference/
JAL Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Being one against big Sam in the summer as well as Ince, having seen the press conference the guy looks genuinely pleased hes running Rovers and far more confident than Ince ever did. In this he now has my full support cant wait for saturday though its too early for him to stamp his mark, surely the players will step upto the plate and put in a stirling performance on saturday and get a win.
des Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I watched the it on tv and was impressed with SA he knew what to say, and how to say it, so roll on sat-day and three points, a client of mine is a bolton fan and we have a small bet as to who will end up higher, I was looking like I w as going to lose, and now I might well win the bet
alexanders Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 can only find it on setanta's website pal http://www.setanta.com/uk/Videos/football/...ess-Conference/ Thank you very much!

Either that or you just like winding people up
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 For all those that have a go at JW - the press conference showed what a confident smooth operator he is. Must be one of the best handled press conferences I have seen for a while. Now all we need to do is win a few matches.
Mr. E Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Are you looking forward to Christmas? You're more miserable than Scrooge himself. Either that or you just like winding people up That's supposed to be one of my more cheerful posts. And I am hoping for good and much-needed changes, which BFS's cold and rational professionalism should bring; I don't mean it as a bad thing.

Now where are Gumboots and Waggy

Long term future is safe in his hands Mr.E - no doubt you'll be down on Saturday supporting YOUR club and YOUR new manager.

Me three, but I am actually a little bit winded up about myself. I wanted like many others fine attacking football at Ewood, but when I think about it more I also love being ruff and nasty and steal points from the big4. We are just a small town in Europe and it will be nice to be hated again instead of apathetic comments about we trying to play football! Got to say ; Very impressed with the press conference - Everything Sam said was spot on and I now believe we are going to be staying in the Premiership where we belong.

You can't help but feel a little bit more positive from the press conference havent read through this thread but is there anyone posting anything negative.
John Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Just watched the interview on Rovers World. Sam says we need to become more passionate and organised to move up the table. Also talks about the satisfaction he gets from upsetting the odds and taking on (and overturning) clubs with greater resources. More like it.
Alan75 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 You can't help but feel a little bit more positive from the press conference havent read through this thread but is there anyone posting anything negative. someone will - cant be a rovers messageboard otherwise
