[Archived] Hull City Vs Blackburn Rovers Date Change

I have been informed by my hull city supporting colleagues that our game has been re-scheduled to sunday 1st March from saturday 28th Feb.

Kick off time is unconfirmed as present.

This is on the official hull city website.

I asked my colleagues why this could be ??

They believe this is because the keystone cops don't return from their holidays paid for by the millwall fixture or the fact that the egg chasers may be using the pitch on the friday night and the pitch needs another 24 hours to recover.

Hull FC's home matches are all on Friday nights, so that would mean every Hull City match moving to a Sunday if this is the reason this game has been moved.

so it can't be for that reason.

Probably something to do with the police.

bob fleming; You could still go out in Hull on the Saturday night, stay over and then go to the game Sunday and back to Blackburn on the Sunday afternoon?

Plenty of hotels and Bn'Bs.

Not all are on Friday night BUT the rugby fixtures were announced on the 24th November, which would've given them plenty time to move the fixture.

Poor organisation by them at the KC.

It's now been confirmed for Sunday 1st March with a 12.30pm KO.

Reason given is that Hull and Sheffield United could have an FA Cup 5th round replay on Thursday 26th (they play Spurs in the PL on Monday 23rd).

I spoke to the ticket office at Rovers an hour ago, and they still hadn't been made aware of the change.

Won't be able to make it now having already pre-booked tickets for the saturday

So, in a round about way, television has moved our bloody game then. Was thinking of going to this on the Saturday but may well struggle on the Sunday.

No, EVERY Hull FC 'HOME' game is on a Friday night. Only away games are on different days. Lots of people complained saying they wouldn't be able to go e.t.c.

Can only imagine it's a 12.30 KO because the Carling Cup Final is at 3pm the same day.

It's bad news for Rovers fans though - the earliest you can get from Blackburn to Hull by train on a Sunday is 2pm.

Come along on the Saturday instead and stay over.

I'd be happy to write/help out with the review for this match what with having so much knowledge of both sides, in which I'd be happy to add plenty of additional info for those travelling on a Saturday, including hotels, B&B's, restaurants, bars, clubs, theatres, distances, how to get to the K.C., pubs for the matchday, things to see and do for those arriving earlier on the Saturday such as museums & shopping experiences e.t.c.

Thats a terrible reason, this past weekend Everton were supposed to play Man Utd in the Monday night game, but due to Everton having there FA Cup replay with Liverpool tomorrow night, they moved the Utd game back to the Saturday tea time.

Why couldn't they just move the Hull/Spurs game back to the Saturday if a FA Cup replay was needed?

I guess it's all down to Setanta Sports. They had a free slot this Saturday teatime with no live TV game scheduled, so the Man Utd v Everton fixture dropped in there. However the Saturday teatime slot is already taken up on Saturday 21st Feb - namely by our own visit to Old Trafford - so they'll want to maintain their live Monday night game as advertised.

Ticket prices for this game should be quite good, i know they do offers for fans over 60, fans aged between 16-22 and for fans under 5 years old. A lot of Premiership teams don't do that for away fans. If the tickets are anything like what they charge their home fans, it should cost about £22-£25 for a match-ticket.

I am looking forward to going home for this game, the ground is right next to the arena where i used play in for Hull Stingers (now Wasps) basketball club and its a Sunday so they might be a home game, so i'll get to see my old coach James Coulson (currently leading Wasps to a good first season in National League 4) Anyway thats way off-topic, the pitch will be pretty torn up from all the action its going from now to the game. I think Hull FC have a game or two before the game and City have plenty of home games as well. The groundsman normally does a good job of making the pitch reasonable but with the current weather battering the country and all the games it is going to have played on it, i can't see the pitch being upto much.

I just hope we beat them, a lot of my mates that i've known since i were about six are now season ticket holders (not Wembley warriors as some numpty on here were referring to their fans as after the play-off final) will make my life unbearable for a long time afterwards.

Am i right in thinking you support both the tigers and rovers? If so, I think we are members of a very small crew. I was a season ticket holder at boothferry from the age of 4 but supported rovers also as my dad grew up nr blackburn and supported them. This was never previously a problem as the plight of the two sides never collided. Now however, after cities meteoric rise, I am left with quite the dilemma. I said prior to the season starting that I would support the team who were more in need of points...I think both teams are fairly desperate. I think I will just enjoy the match and prey that there isnt some incident that leaves the two clubs hating each other. Sadly, I wont be able to attend the match as I now live quite a distance away and will be unable to return. Furthermore, I think some members of my family would kill me if I sat in the away end (Thier support for Rovers has floundered in recent years due to the success of the tigers and they cant understand why I am still obsessed with the rovers).

I would also happily offer any advice to those who need it regarding the City and things to do etc. It has a bad rep, but whilst the place is hardly glamorous, it is friendly enough. Like many a northern city I suppose.

at least South Lancs Roveres will be running a bus (from Standish and Chorley)

A word of warning. Tell them to register the bus with Humberside police, as if it is not an official Rovers coach (i.e. un-registered to the police) the bus will be treated as though they're hooligans.

Trouble-makers don't register their buses and are then escorted into the city once spotted and taken to a pub where the police stay with the fans, then nearer the kick-off, the police will escort those fans to the ground on the bus and search anyone on the bus as they get off.

So as I suggested, just contact them and let them know, they'll just ask for a few details and then you'll be hassle free.

Adult = £25

16-22 = £16.50

I have to have a special I.D. card pre-made to prove I'm 22, so not sure what will happen with travelling fans.

With regards to the pitch, it should be fine. A new one was only re-laid this summer and it has new tougher fibres bound into it which will keep it looking fresh for quite some time.

Kingston-Upon-Hull must be the only city in the U.K. where probably 90% of the population have also followed another team at some point in their lives.

What with City almost going out of business 10 years ago, having no money and Boothferry Park dropping to bits along with when the Premier League came about and Hull City were nowhere, everyone adopted a team in "the big league" to watch. Nobody ever imagined Hull City 10 years later would have a £44 million stadium and be in the Premier League!

Even now at the K.C. I see kids with Hull City shirts on and a Man Utd hat

My dad used to take me to games at Boothferry Park every-so-often and when the Premier League came about he said he'd buy me a kit... reeled off the names of Prem teams and Blackburn sounded appealing so he bought me the kit. Then players like Shearer and Hendry kept me hooked.

I just knew that the game at Ewood was going to be a draw and I think it'll be the same outcome at the K.C.

As you say, Kingston-Upon-Hull gets a bad rep that is undeserved. The main reason it does sh*te in these polls of facts and figures is because Hull's nicer outer-suburbs such as Kirk Ella, Anlaby, Hedon, Swanland, Hessle e.t.c. aren't counted as within the council boundary, which leaves their stats out effecting Hull's overall stats, making the city sound bad, where-as somewhere like Leeds for example has Garforth and Wetherby counted in it's stats, which are a lot further out of Leeds than the places mentioned above are from Hull, as Kirk Ella, Anlaby, Hedon, Swanland, Hessle e.t.c. are actually joined onto Hull.

Location, Location, Location - a flawed show, yet taken as gospel by so many.

That's good of them. Will they be getting the ale in? :D

Funny story from last season actually;

A bus of Sheff Utd supporters were escorted to the Green Bricks down by the marina as it has a beer garden surrounded by a 12ft wall, plod stayed at the front of the pub while the Sheff Utd fans somehow climbed over the wall and ran off
