EwoodGlory Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Newcastle made at least 3 bids last summer, I know that for a fact. Stupid bids at that, just to unsettle him. Clowns that they are. He's not a world beater, we could replace him for half the money we flog him for. Givet is prove of that.

Grabbi Graeme Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Benitez's fee will be a lot lower than £9 million...lower up-front fee and all sorts of clauses. David Sullivan has been on SSN and was talking about Benitez, he was asked about the fee and said £10 million up front with a possiblity of rising to £15- £20 million depending on various clauses's , a club record apparentley
gumboots Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Newcastle made at least 3 bids last summer, I know that for a fact. Stupid bids at that, just to unsettle him. Clowns that they are. He's not a world beater, we could replace him for half the money we flog him for. Givet is prove of that. It's not just replacing the playing ability though, is it? We've been lucky with Givet in that he's settled quickly and seems to have "bought into" the club. (not literally obviously) However, we could buy a cheaper left back, midfielder etc who is technically better or quicker or whatever than Warnock who doesn't fit at all. That's why, unless it became essential for some reason, I don't think we should sell. Presumably if we can find a buyer for RSC who pays a decent amount fairly soon then we won't need to sell anyone else and can afford to look around and decide if we want to. However, if nobody wants RSC or not at a good enough price early enough then we might have to wonder who else we can get cash for and that's when Warnock might be the one that goes.

Ewood and I Would Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Newcastle bid for Warnock remember - and your manager at the time wanted to do the deal. What was the stumbling block then?
gumboots Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I think that confirms it is a lot less then... Are you suggesting the man is economical with the truth?
modes98 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 said £10 million up front with a possiblity of rising to £15- £20 million If that's true they have just been robbed!
T4E Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Are you suggesting the man is economical with the truth? If its true its the only thing he's been economical with!

RibbleValleyRover Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Nicko any truth in some of the rumours about Samba leaving to City? And Ben-Haim coming the other way? Could be ###### but i've heard a few rumblings about it and iirc someone posted about going to the awards evening and asking Samba if he would be here next season and he said he didn't know. Selling Samba for me would be a huge mistake, probably our best player and asset at this moment in time.
socngill Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I read some time last week that the release clause for Cruz has a end date - either end of this month or next, can't remember. Does anybody know if there is any truth behind this? Would be good if it was true.

Ben Haim's wages are big. And he is not very good. Founder member of Can't Kick It Straight Club.
Eddie Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 It has been reported that it finishes at the end of July.
socngill Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Cheers Eddie. Would be good to know if it is actually true or not. Alot of our targets will hinge on the possible sale of Cruz so having it in there would be of great use. Is this definitely true Nicko? And sorry if this has already been discussed.

If Roque goes you would have decent money for a 'star' signing. Until then I think you will sign cheap and sensible. No harm in that either - as long as they are good.
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Nicko. What would you say are the chances of Roque leaving the club this summer... Behind the scenes i have heard that his agent is actively pushing his profile on other teams, and Roque is aiming to reunite with Sparky at Man City...
T4E Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Until then I think you will sign cheap and sensible. No harm in that either - as long as they are good. Perfectly achievable under Sam.

Behind the scenes i have heard that his agent is actively pushing his profile on other teams, and Roque is aiming to reunite with Sparky at Man City... Roque goes if the price or deal is right...can't put any odds or percentages on that. I would suggest it may be a long wait. His agent can try all he likes. The player should have been fit and scoring, then everyone would have been happy and he might look worth £20 million. Man City should get Tevez which makes you wonder if they still want Roque. Tottenham are keen, but Harry is as slippery as jellied eels. Don't see any other runners.
joey_big_nose Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Cruz is going to still be here come August guys. Get used to it.
67splitscreen Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Cruz is going to still be here come August guys. Get used to it. I think you are probably rite there.
Iceman Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 If Roque is still here come August, then he can get his move provided he scores as many goals as possible. We will probably be in a healthy position in the league, and no fear of relegation come January. Come to think of it, Hull must have felt the same.
LeChuck Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I think you are probably rite there. I agree...I think he'll be gone by September though. Not saying that just to be awkward, I genuinely believe someone will come in with a bid a day or two before the deadline closes, I don't think anything will be sorted early with Roque.
Hughesy Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 We best get signing some more freebies and loan players then. Sam should try for Rafael on loan.
doctorryan Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 No agenda. This time last year Warnock didn't like Ince and Ince told him about Newcastle United - in front of the rest of the players. A few weeks ago I found out Tottenham still want him...and that the present manager may be willing to sell. We shall see. Alan.........Please try to refrain from using the term may if at all avoidable on this message board. It is a term usually associated with bullshit and conjecture and we can get our fill of that with regards to these subjects any time we want from newsnow.

May - in this case, meaning 'if the price is right.' Would be silly to imagine otherwise.
