Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 They are saying he is the pick of the bunch today. Rooney off Young on.
Dunnfc Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Bentley what a performance, motm for me. Has looked tired for the last 15 but hes ran himself into the ground.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Gerrard MOTM? He has been awful. Rooney and Bentley have both had solid if unspectacular games, everyone else has been poor.
Wolverine Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 People online are 'geeks' says Lawro. I'd rather be a geek than a ###### ######. Well done Bents - did us proud!
herbergeehh Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I'd say Rooney, then Bentley, then Joe Cole. What did Brown do exactly?
Backroom trueblue Posted February 6, 2008 Backroom Posted February 6, 2008 What did Brown do exactly? Turn up ?
Ewood and I Would Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I'd say Rooney, then Bentley, then Joe Cole. What did Brown do exactly? Made Bentley look even better!
Jimmy Jupiter Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Wow Hansen just can't praise Bentley enough
Ewood and I Would Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 "The Big Bonus is Bentley" I'm actually starting to like Alan Hansen..........oh no!
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 He looked much more ineffective when pushed into the middle. Hopefully Capello, and Hughes realised this and only move him in when it is an emergency.
herbergeehh Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 He didn't get much space, and also looked a bit tired in the end. I think he can do a job there with the right players around him, but right midfield is clearly his best position. Bentley will need to stay sharp though, France is up next ?
bobsterbrfc Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 thinking practically....tonight just bumped Bentley's price tag to the 20 million mark
bazza Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 thinking practically....tonight just bumped Bentley's price tag to the 20 million mark Which means Rovers FC are now worth a lot more than they were three hours ago. (Check the accounts thread as per Philipl)
Tim Southampton Rover Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Excellent performance from Bentley. He put himself in contention for a regular place in the England squad with that performance. He was the main positive which came out of todays game. An great second half today and it's good to see England play with the ball on the ground. Great start!
ackroyd75 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 He wont be with us much longer, playing like that tonight!
Wolverine Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 He wont be with us much longer, playing like that tonight! Have no fear. Bentley will stay. Praise from The Guardian at the end of this: http://football.guardian.co.uk/news/matchr...2253355,00.html
Tim Southampton Rover Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 He looked much more ineffective when pushed into the middle. Hopefully Capello, and Hughes realised this and only move him in when it is an emergency. I think he mainly sat back once he moved into the middle because Ashley Young and SWP both like to sprint down the wings causing more open space for the Swiss to counter in. If they did that whilst Gerrard and himself were also around the opponents area, England would have been caught out. It's all about the right balance and he did well moving in the centre, despite not being as creative as he was on the right hand side.
LeChuck Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Which means Rovers FC are now worth a lot more than they were three hours ago. (Check the accounts thread as per Philipl) Oh I hope that is a joke, I really do. Very good performance by Bentley, I think he'll be starting on the right side again the next friendly.
modes98 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 A superb 90mins from Sir Dave Bentley. A few world class balls into the front man and a better touch from rooney or crouch and they would have been assists. He was unlucky not to get on the end of cole's ball for the first goal. A definate pick for the next game.
Ben-2000 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 He wont be with us much longer, playing like that tonight! That's what I was thinking Don't be suprised if he's off in the Summer
AlanK Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Gerrard " man of the match " at the stadium. Who picked that? I couldn`t figure out whether he was left wing, inside left, outside left, inside out, hokey cokey!?! He wasn`t in it! As for Lawrenson commenting on PC users as " geeks ". Well, words fail me At the beginning of the game he commented on a new beginning. If only that included the commentators. Motson and Lawro are beyond awful and I know not of anyone who enjoy their drivel.
Mattyblue Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 While England were slowly building a move which ended in a good save from Swiss keeper, crowd- "booooooooooo!". When Bentley put in probably his ONLY poor ball in the whole game, Crowd- "Only one David Beckham" I knew when the England roadshow ended up back in London, the Southern (largely) cretins who go to Wembley would resurface.
AlanK Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 That's what I was thinking Don't be suprised if he's off in the Summer Would you rather he played badly? It reflects well on Rovers when:- 1: We get players in to the squad 2: We get players in to the 1st team 3: They could easily be man of the match It looks good on us and if he does move on it only increases his price. Its a win win
