magicalmortensleftpeg Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Also says a little about Wolves ambition, they also paid 6.5m for a striker today, how the hell can they pay that and we can't find 4m Because we have a better squad on bigger salaries funded by a smaller fanbase.

LeChuck Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I'd take him as a third striker. Beattie plus Lewadowski would be good. Same here, those two would be brilliant. Beattie on a 12 month deal would be good I reckon...he always starts off on fire for a new club, before dying out. If he does that for us we could probably get 10 or so goals out of him. Having someone proven in the PL would allow us to sign Lewandowski too.

If he got ten league goals, he would have tripled Di Santo and Kalinic's total for last season plus an extra one just for good measure.
imy9 Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I agree The Pole and Beattie would be good-but knowing our luck we will sign Beattie and that's it! Priority is Guti, I feel he could help us progress to the next level.
Majiball Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 The question is though can we really afford all three of them? Guti, circa 70K a week or 3.7 million. Lewdonoski, 4 million ish plus at least 25K a week (1.3 million) Beattie, 1 million (up front) at least 30K (1.6 million) Thats roughly 12 milliom without signing on fee's, agents fee's and the rest. I just don't believe we have the funds, even with the impending sale of Grella. Would be good if we could snare them all though, anyone but Banjoni.
Majiball Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I've been wondering would it be possible to have a poll with the main players we have been linked to? Would be quite interesting to see who everyone thinks should be the main priority this summer.
Ozz Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Would be quite interesting to see who everyone thinks should be the main priority this summer. No it wouldn't.
Sparky Marky Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I agree. If he got ten league goals, he would have tripled Di Santo and Kalinic's total for last season plus an extra one just for good measure. Yeah, but he won't be the penalty taker here, so maybe only about 1 or 2 goals next season....
Hughesy Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I've been wondering would it be possible to have a poll with the main players we have been linked to? Would be quite interesting to see who everyone thinks should be the main priority this summer. Luca Toni
braddock Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 christ, you can tell it's a slow summer if that poll has now become interesting. i'd rather restart the keith poll to tally up the swing voters
Iceman Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I've been wondering would it be possible to have a poll with the main players we have been linked to? Would be quite interesting to see who everyone thinks should be the main priority this summer. you dont need a poll Maj, try 200 odd pages and you will see why its a big no no
JAL Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I think we are being softened up to accept Beattie; http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/blackburnrovers/news/8201576.Stoke_tell_Rovers__Beatt_down_our_door Very poor, in fact shockingly poor, If true, this would simply back up my argument that big Sam isnt very good when it comes to recruiting quality strikers. Fingers crossed that it doesnt come off and that it was all speculation at the end of the day.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Where does Anelka fit into that arguement JAL? One striker in how many years that has turned out to be a decent buy? Don't recall him buying any decent ones at Newcastle. Niko might come good, all depends on how flexible Sam is willing to be.
mark Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Fingers crossed that it doesnt come off and that it was all speculation at the end of the day. I'd be strangely fine with it... don't ask me why but I think beattie would come in and kick ass. He's the type of striker we need, he WANTS to play for us, and IMO has 'big sam miracle job written' all over him. One striker in how many years that has turned out to be a decent buy? Don't recall him buying any decent ones at Newcastle. Niko might come good, all depends on how flexible Sam is willing to be. he took our beloved davies from the scrap heap to the brink of the england sqauad..
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Beattie? - yesterdays man. But what do we expect knowing the pittance we have to spend.
Hughesy Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 One striker in how many years that has turned out to be a decent buy? Don't recall him buying any decent ones at Newcastle. Niko might come good, all depends on how flexible Sam is willing to be. Nicolas Anelka (Now plays for the champions) Kevin Davies (Cannot deny he has been quality for them) Viduka on a free from Boro (at this stage he was good) Who are the poor strikers he has signed!?
JAL Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Where does Anelka fit into that arguement JAL? Far too few though Hughesy would you not agree. Beattie simply wasnt god enough 12 years ago, over the past 4 years or more hes done nothing and now he faces his twilight years, yet some on here think its a good idea. Maybe we need Matt Jansen to come back and partner him. Beattie on free transfer would simply be money wasted, big Sam needs to do a lot better.
Majiball Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Where does Anelka fit into that arguement JAL? Come on Hughesy your not seriously giving Sam the credit for spotting Anelka had talent? All and sundry had heard of him. One striker in how many years that has turned out to be a decent buy? Don't recall him buying any decent ones at Newcastle. Niko might come good, all depends on how flexible Sam is willing to be. He did a good job on Davies, so he can do it. He even managed to get Rickett's in the england team. Perhaps picking out attacking potential is one area that he does fall down in. I'm still firmly of the opinion that a coach who is strong in this aspect would not only improve us going forward on the pitch but perhaps in our recruitment in this area as well? I just don't see the point of signing Beattie, Banjoni, Piquinnoe since they are all north of 30 and will only be short term fixes. I cannot believe there are not better options out there that we can afford and who have the attributes we need.
brian_gallagher85 Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Who are the poor strikers he has signed!? Click! - granted he did sign via the youth team, but he's still @#/? Damn you Tombro
