neekoy Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Germany Australia Ghana Serbia Lines up a nice tie against England in the second round.
neekoy Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 I think Australia are stuffed. Why is that pg? No Ballack, No Essien, ground out a win against NZ, got one up on Denmark, lost to USA after the news was relayed about Brad Jones son. I think we have a great chance of 2nd, and I know it doesn't matter what team they put out against England, they will lift. After that though, yeah, we are stuffed.

I'd be surprised if Serbia don't go through in second.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Germany to take the group imo, Serbia and Australia fighting it out for second place. It could be tough for Australia, Serbia are considered by many to be a 'dark horse' for this tournament.
Backroom DE. Posted June 8, 2010 Backroom Posted June 8, 2010 If we top our group and Serbia come second in this one, as is most likely, then we'll be facing them in the last 16. I'd much prefer to face the Aussies though so I'll be watching this group with keen interest! Wouldn't rule out Ghana to surprise a few people either.
philipl Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Ghana are arguably the best side in Africa, Serbia are tasty to say the least and Germany are an ominous mix of explosive youngsters and very good mature pros. On paper, Australia will go home null points. Ghana's suspect temprament to get exposed in this Group. Got a hunch on Australia and Germany being a draw and England v Germany in the last 16.
67splitscreen Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I quite fancy Serbia, solid at the back with Vidic (if fit) Subotic and Ivanocic. Stojkovic in goal is a bit of a worry, not the best going off his performances for Wigan this term. Kacar, Krasic and the old head of Stankovic in MF. Pantelic, Jovanovic and Zigic up front. Will be interesting to see how Zigic performs on the big stage, Viewing figures boosted by BRFCS. My shock group winners. Do I hate Germany.
Roberto Policano Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I reckon Serbia and Germany will get out of this group. It should be a decent group though, with all teams having some excellent players.
RoyRover Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I think that Serbia are a real dark horse for this World Cup and can do very well. There defence is very strong, being anchored by Nemanja Vidic. The excellent Nevan Subotic, Branislav Ivanovic and Aleksandar Kolarov make up the rest of the back four. It's in the midfield that they look really good. Gojko Kacar, Dejan Stankovic, Milan Jovanovic, Nenad Milijas and Zdravko Kuzmanovic give them a lot of options. But the one to look out for is CSKA's Milos Krasic who is superb. His dribbling abilities could really light up the World Cup. Up front Marko Pantelic is a goal machine and the giant Nikola Zigic gives them an ariel threat. Danko Lazovic is another very good technical player up front for them. Their weakness is in goal and it will be interesting to see how much this holds them back. I can see them getting to the quarter finals and possibly the semis.
tcj_jones Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 I agree, Roy. They're my tip to cause a surprise this World Cup. Their squad is littered with talent and they have a superb defence, better than England's IMO. They will be difficult to break down and have loads of creative talent. I just wish they weren't in our half of the draw.
dave birch Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Can't see the Aussie making it through. Their game hasn't much too it, they're older and haven't got a game breaker, Cahill will be closely marked now. I would have loved to have seen Tommy Oar playing though.
Miker Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 There always has to be an upset in one group, and I'm hoping it's Germany this time around. Serbia will make it through, they have an incredibly solid team and if anything they will be very hard to beat. Australia has a chance, but realistically it's very slim.
HemelRover Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 I have to say, this(Ghana v Serbia) is the first game of this world cup im looking forward to. Its such a shame that Essien is missing but this should be such a good game.
Guest Kamy100 Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Thus far Serbia v Ghana has been a goof game, both teams looking to get forward. This Group is a tough one to call.
tcj_jones Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 This is a good game. Two very evenly matched sides both looking to attack. Ghana in particuilar have impressed me.
tcj_jones Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 What an idiot Kuzmanovic is for giving away that penalty.
Backroom Tom Posted June 13, 2010 Backroom Posted June 13, 2010 First penalty of the tournament to Ghana for a silly handball one nil
Guest Kamy100 Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Really enjoyed this match, both sides have created chances. Ghana have been very impressive against a good Serbia side.
Commondore Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Two former Rovers targets in this game, and while Zigic looked quite useless I was impressed with Annan.
Exiled_Rover Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Another rubbish game marred by bad refereeing. This is a stellar World Cup so far.
Steve Moss Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 I found myself rooting for Ghana early. They looked like a squad with spirit.
Backroom Tom Posted June 13, 2010 Backroom Posted June 13, 2010 Another rubbish game marred by bad refereeing. This is a stellar World Cup so far. is this sarcasm? If not I don't get it. It was a really good game to watch with good refereeing for the most part again. Both teams look like they would give us a good game, especially Ghana. I love the African teams for their fans and spirit I hope a couple of them get past the group stages.
