Stuart Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 I know it's still only part way through but has anyone got an opinion yet on the goal of the tournament. I thought that the Tshabalala's goal for South Africa in the opening match was a fantastic strike and few have really stood up to it. Anyone got any better ones in mind?

Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 David Villa's goal the other day was pretty classy.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 David Villa's goal the other day was pretty classy. That would probably get my vote so far.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 DEFOES It's the first England goal i've seen this tournament. Blummin' ITV HD!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Goal of the World Cup could have just been scored by Italy's Quagliarella. Unbelivable!
Rovermatt Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 In a tournament being talked about for its caginess, we've been treated to some wonderful goals. The best goals I've seen so far (and in no particular order): Fabio Quagliarella's goal for Italy this afternoon was absolutely brilliant. Honda's scorcher against Denmark earlier was the best strike of the tournament yet as far as I'm concerned. Endo's free-kick was also fantastic. Gerrard's goal against the Yanks was a cracker. Maicon's pearler against the Romuluns was out of this world (pun intended). Elano also scored a beautiful goal in that game. His goal against Cote d'Ivoire was also brilliant in its build-up. I thought the excellent Michael Bradley's equaliser against Slovenia was outstanding for its drama. Ozil's goal last night against Ghana was awesome. Rommedahl's goal against Cameroon was class. Bendtner's goal in the same game was also excellent. Birsa's curler against the Americans was top-drawer. Higuain's third goal against South Korea was a lovely end to a beautiful move. Forlan's opener against South Africa was brilliant (small deflection off Mokoena notwithstanding). Vera's finish for Paraguay against Slovakia was fabulous. At least three of the goals in Portugal's 7-0 demolition of North Korea were world class in their execution. Villa's first goal against Honduras was awesome.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 You mentioned all those great goals yet forget to mention the South African goal on the opening day which was also a corker Totally agree though, there's been some brilliant football so far

Amo Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Goal of the World Cup could have just been scored by Italy's Quagliarella. +1
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Read the first post mate. I was on about RoverMatt's huge list of goals so to you too!
Commondore Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Maybe not the most beautiful goal scored, but considering the level of difficulty I would say that Asamoah's game winner against USA stands out so far.
brfcshabba Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Suarez second goal against South Korea due to the amount of bend on the ball
thenodrog Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 My vote is for Frank Lampards. Judged to absolute perfection. That shot really could not have been aimed any better. I mean that.
Doaksie Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Carlos Tevez goal = WOW! Gets my vote too - power, placement, perfection. A wonderful strike of the ball.
Eddie Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Agreed about the Lampard one, would have been up there had it counted. My vote goes to Suarez. Wonderful finish and a great way to put your team through to the quarters.
Backroom Tom Posted July 6, 2010 Backroom Posted July 6, 2010 Gio Van Bronhorst would like to claim his prize now
HemelRover Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Gio Van Bronhorst would like to claim his prize now Seconded.
Eddie Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 The competition for worst piece of goalkeeping is a far more competitive contest.
Backroom Tom Posted July 6, 2010 Backroom Posted July 6, 2010 But you have biggest critic of world cup 2010 sewn up Eddie
