Majiball Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I don't think they can after their "need experience" comment He has 8 games worth, surely that's enough for Nutcastle United.

Stuart Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 These folks seem pretty convinced it's going to be Martin Jol
gumboots Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 These folks seem pretty convinced it's going to be Martin Jol Well at least he's used to being sacked without any respect for past achievements - didn't it leak out mid match that he was being sacked by spurs
thenodrog Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I am afraid the real reason for Hughton's sacking might become all too painfully clear for Rovers supporters. The Walker Trust are buying the Magpies?
Stuart Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Well at least he's used to being sacked without any respect for past achievements - didn't it leak out mid match that he was being sacked by spurs Yes I seem to remember that. Might just be wishful thinking on my part but... maybe, just maybe.... C'mon, they deserve each other!
Steve Moss Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Yes I seem to remember that. Might just be wishful thinking on my part but... maybe, just maybe.... Would be a dream come true.
Rover Down Under Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I wondered how long it would take before Nukecastles delusions of grandeur and sense of entitlement would take to return after coming up. Couldn't even keep 'em down for half a season. Sacking Hughton after what he's done for them is unforgiveable and I hope whoever they appoint takes them straight back down, not to be seen again for a decade. And there I was thinking relegation would have done them some good. Toons never change their stripes.
Andy Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Allardyce back to Newcastle?! Never in a squillion years. There's more chance of my pet cat getting the Newcastle job than Big Sam.
neekoy Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I think Martin O'Neill might be in with a shot, if he can get the best out of Guthrie, Ameobi, Routledge to support the outstanding world class talents of A Smith, Barton, Nolan and Campbell then a top 4 slot should not be out of the question. If he fails to reach that in the last 6 months of this season with a massive 20 million pound warchest at his disposal they can always just sack him for incompetence.
gumboots Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Allardyce back to Newcastle?! Never in a squillion years. There's more chance of my pet cat getting the Newcastle job than Big Sam. has your cat got an interview then, or has it been spotted lurking round estate agents in Ponteland?
Andy Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Not just yet, though neither aspect could be applied to Big Sam either. What swings it, is that somebody's mate's auntie's half-brother plays golf with somebody who's heard of Tom Finn's cousin - and apparently Fred is very much a front runner at this time. Seriously though, it's inconceivable that Sam could/would return to Newcastle under the current setup.
Ricky Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I don't for one minute think that's what Philip was implying.
Earlydoors Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Independent reporting its Pardew http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/newcastle-make-swift-move-for-pardew-to-quell-fans-rebellion-2153904.html ..staggering
CrazyIvan Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Independent reporting its Pardew http://www.independe...on-2153904.html ..staggering "...to quell fans' rebellion" Quell the fans' rebellion? Appointing Pardew? Erm...
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Houllier next manager to be sacked? 2 wins in 11 league games under his watch. His comments after the 3-0 Liverpool loss look like they have angered the Villa fans looking at some of their messageboards. He told his post-match press conference: "The fans were good. I appreciated the fact that they chanted my name at the end. It shows they can remember. "There was also a banner at the start of the game. I was not emotional but I was extremely touched by that." He added: "It's difficult to say but I prefer to lose 3-0 to Liverpool because I like Liverpool.
Majiball Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 The appointment of Pardew just highlights one of the biggest issues in football today. Its not about best man for the job its about jobs for the boys.
Hughesy Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Pardew?? You couldnt make it up!! JOKE CLUB!!! Love the toon forums at the moment "Pedro in charge, Pardew bookies favourite despite being sacked from his 3 previous jobs. You could'nt f***ing make it up!!!!!!. If it happens that fat cockney w***ker aint getting my season ticket money next year. I've been a supporter since 1955 and enough is enough. " "You need to show how much you detest wahat he's doing to your club- mass protests and maybe everyone leaving after 60 mins of Saturdays match - show him he is not wanted- hurt him in the wallet and he will soon go!" "Mike Ashley is ruining this club! I honestly wish the fat c*nt would fooook off and die!! I hope to god the bloke dies a horrible slow and painful death in the lead up to Christmas!!!"
MarkBRFC71 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 At least Pardew getting the Newcastle job leaves Martin Jol free to take over at Rovers ....
Mattyblue Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Robbie Savage on Five Live about Newcastle: "Just because they get big crowds doesn't make them a big club. I've researched this and in their time in the Premier League their average position was 11th. Big club? Don't make me laugh. Big clubs win things" About bloody time somebody in the media said it. Only club in the Newcastle, Tyneside and the Northumberland region and they attract crowds of 45000! What an acheievement! 'Big' catchment area and that's it.
BuckyRover Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 So what. If they could choose any of those or us, I would suggest that we would be last. Are we going to cry everytime another team gets taken over and wish it was us?

No ones crying and the point being, IMO, another Man City type owner the Prem does not need, nor do we, especially someone Newcastle who at the moment are in a similar league position.

Think Sav needs to do his maths again because I'm pretty sure they've finished in the top six at least eight times three of which were as runners-up.
gumboots Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Think Sav needs to do his maths again because I'm pretty sure they've finished in the top six at least eight times three of which were as runners-up. But they also got relegated which perhaps helps bring that average down quite a way
Mattyblue Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 To be honest, I don't have much faith in Sav's research abilities but i love the sentiment!
