den Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 i would'nt mind James Collins, he is a very commanding centre back, good in the air. However, if we can do some business with spurs for Samba, i'd accept 6-7 million plus Bassong. roger johnson would be my number one choice but i'd refuse to go over 9 million for him considering he has one year left on his contract. Kean knows that he needs the majority of his budget to enhance the attack, thats why players like Mills and Collins are being linked who are worth 4-5 mill. i can see Cruz coming in, but 6.5 is a no go, 4.5 and i'd be tempted. I can also see Jermaine Jones being recruited again now that we have a decent kitty, i'd suspect 6 million would possibly be enough. going to be an exciting summer me thinks £4.5m for RSC and £6m for JJ? Good gawd. My valuation is RSC - £0m. JJ - £2.5m max.
PAFELL Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 VUCINIC - ambitious...no harm in that...if you spend quite a bit LESS on him than the down payment for Jones it would be some business...bear in mind the terms Jones was offered to stay and the SAME kind of cash may get your man...tally ho. MIRANDA - waiting on word. YOBO - no no....nothing to it...probably Everton trying to push up the price for Fenerbahce. TARGETS - too many to mention. KENTARO - will someone please remember that they are the club's avdisers...the guy Huber is the main man...he works in Switzerland...the manager confirmed that was his first stop after India where he talked money and targets...now the professionals can get on with the bidding for players...I am sure some fannies will cluck away about that...I would rather have pros doing the job than some amateurs. SHEARER - bottler. DELETED POSTS - the next one that gets deleted will be the last...it's a bad day when you can't have a swing at a clown...makes things more ehtertaining...ok? Is this legal within premiership rules? I ask as I do not know the answer. What is the different roles, if there are differences of Jerome Anderson and Huber. Are they both advising the owners, do they both have a say in players Rovers sign? Agents will just get the best fees for their own players, as well as themselves, at a detrementle cost to clubs.
budha Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Benjani > RSC > Vucinic/ Amauri/ Adebayor Thats the way the striker hunt seems to have gone since last summer, yet people still moan....it takes time, but we seem to have increased our ambition thats for sure. Why don't you list all the "big" names we were rumoured to be after last summer and in January as you have for this summer? I'm ready to bet £100 that we don't land Vucinic, Amauri nor Adebayor. Just as we didn't land Raul, Bance, Piquoinne, Gyan, Tuncay, Ronaldinho, Morientes, N'Gog, Jelavic, Lewandowski, Carew, Janko, Osvaldo, Pogrebnyak, Fabiano and whoever else we've been linked with last summer and in January..

Gav Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Sorry you struggle with opinions Gav. It didn't seem to be a problem for you under Big Sam. Bunkum Den, another stick to beat Kean and the owners with

47er Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Nolan is a poor signing because???? .........he scored more goals than any of our strikers?
Gav Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Nolan is a poor signing because???? He's reported to be on 60k a week
A cup of beans Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Nolan is a poor signing because???? didnt mention poor anywhere in my post was commenting that sam's signings are less than exciting. rather like sam's playing style! he's playing it safe.. again!

Agents will just get the best fees for their own players, as well as themselves, at a detrementle cost to clubs. Huber is big mates with one of the Rao brothers. Do you think he is going to shaft his mate - and the joint venture they are involved in? No, neither do I.
bastionRover Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 is no one else looking forward to seeing the likes of Rochina and Formica next season? I know I am. They will be like 2 new signings anyway I was thinking this exact same thing earlier. I'm really hoping they "beef" up a bit and have a good pre season.
Kenwoo Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Nicko, regarding James Collins- do you think if 'Eck gets the Villa job will he try and take Roger Johnson with him? Possibly leaving Collins available?
budha Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Difference is we've just received £16m. We received £16M+ in summer 2009 and got Kalinic. And my point was that I wouldn't take the rumoured names as signs of improvement. We've been linked with big names in the past too, ending up with Benjani.
Mattyblue Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 didnt mention poor anywhere in my post was commenting that sam's signings are less than exciting. rather like sam's playing style! he's playing it safe.. again! As 47er says he scored more goals from midfield than our whole strikeforce combined last season. West Ham fans are cock a hoop with Nolan- and so they should be.
davulsukur Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Nicko, regarding James Collins- do you think if 'Eck gets the Villa job will he try and take Roger Johnson with him? Possibly leaving Collins available? If big eck gets the villa job i cant see the brummies doing many deals for him. Even if Johnson is up for sale.
Darwen Rover Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Jones is class and for an investment of £6m we should get a good 3yrs out of him! Here's my view on what we need (I know many have already stated) but anyway, in priority order assuming samba stays: 1 new left back and a proper one so that Givet can cover CB with either Nelson / samba.. We lose so much when ollson is not on the left wing cost £3m 2 new striker - £10m man hopefully a proven goal scorer in one of the big four leagues 3 new right back - possibly younger one to learn from Salgado I'd spend a max of £2m here 4 new cm Pederson can play cm but I think Dunn is finished not sure where Formica fits in yet either but I'd say £5m That's a total spend of £26m I'd keep Roberts / Benjani as they can both do a job, I'd only have RSC if he was less than £3m if not it's not worth the gamble.. Players out... Andrews £2m Grella £1m Dunn £0.5m Kalinic £4m (although I really don't think the boys been given a fair chance it seems like he's out of favour) Thats £7.5m In and £26m spent meaning a net spend of £18.5m
Kenwoo Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 If big eck gets the villa job i cant see the brummies doing many deals for him. Even if Johnson is up for sale. It's gonna get really ugly.
rebelmswar Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Huber is big mates with one of the Rao brothers. Do you think he is going to shaft his mate - and the joint venture they are involved in? Resisting. Must. Resist...
pick32 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 The culture shock from Tyneside to London must be huge.

The Hammers certainly seem to be excited - quality signings for a club in the Championship. Speaks volumes about Sam as a manager that he has a number of players so loyal to him and willing to work with him at any club. The targets announced in the LT seem decent enough to me, Miranda is probably the most exciting name there. If we can somehow get Adebayor or Amauri that would be brilliant, but I seriously doubt Adebayor would bother coming here. Signing J Jones and getting Hoilett on a new contract would be priorities for me.

To be fair, the players he has signed, added to the ones that will be staying on. Looks pretty good for them to bounce straight back into the prem
