leerovers1980 Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I personally think Paul Robinson could be important with trying to persuade defoe to move to rovers as he had to make the same move couple of years ago

Black Burn Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I personally think Paul Robinson could be important with trying to persuade defoe to move to rovers as he had to make the same move couple of years ago Oh yeah! Good old Paul Robinson. I suspect he's the one Alan Nixon mentioned as Blackburn's team in convincing Defoe to come to Rovers. Be great if he succeeds! The comments on the Mirror article are annoying, though.
A cup of beans Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I personally think Paul Robinson could be important with trying to persuade defoe to move to rovers as he had to make the same move couple of years ago good point lee. missed that connection!
Exiled_Rover Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Just to put it in perspective...there is ONE MONTH to the first game...and FIVE players needed. So time to turn the talk into action. I hope that the dithering spell of role-changing, list-ripping, budget-trimming and then budget-part-restoring plus possible takeover-dreaming does not prove to be damaging in the final analysis. Exactly. So far it has been an absolute disaster.
Guest TheArtistFormallyKnownAsJB Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I would much rather keep Samba over these Tottenham squad players. Defoes wage' will be impossible for us surely. I understand the "spurs" salary cap, but I am certain he would ask for a massive raise to move north. Besides, I don't remember hearing about Samba wanting to go to Spurs... Why should he want to go to spurs? If he bides his time, he knows he could end up at Arsenal, or even Chelsea/Liverpool. I am not suggesting Spurs are a small club, but it isnt the massive step up his career deserves.
daveoftherovers Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I personally think Paul Robinson could be important with trying to persuade defoe to move to rovers as he had to make the same move couple of years ago Good point! Well done that man, here's hoping!
wozaup Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 cryer tweeted: Same old names keep cropping up. Malbranque in papers and McGugan rumours as well - told nothing in them. Witsel was never coming here Benjani signs on: http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/9134348.Benjani_out_to_prove_his_point_at_Rovers/
47er Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Malbranque is a decent player and ok has squad player. Don't we have enough of them?
leerovers1980 Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Prays for Defoe pray for defoe we get benjani lol http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/9134348.Benjani_out_to_prove_his_point_at_Rovers/
chris Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 pray for defoe we get benjani lol http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/9134348.Benjani_out_to_prove_his_point_at_Rovers/ due to your lack of faith or we would have got Defoe. Pray more, four times a day. and I want you too fast for one month. I think this will work.
gumboots Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 good point lee. missed that connection! Only thing is Robinson is a northerner himself, so it doesn't have quite the same clout as if you're a southerner who has moved here and discovered that for everything you lose moving north, you gain 5 times as much.
Black Burn Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 pray for defoe we get benjani lol http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/9134348.Benjani_out_to_prove_his_point_at_Rovers/ Worse, we haven't heard anything about Hoillet sealing his contract with us.
leerovers1980 Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 CryerRovers Andrew Cryer Again heard the defoe rumour yesterday. I'm sure Rovers would like him, but will it happen? No. why does he always have to put a downer on everything
dhughes07 Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Just a note on the phantom tweeter, he later tweeted "i have been twitter rapped, ignore my last tweets on rovers" so that makes this all very confusing to say the least.

No. why does he always have to put a downer on everything It's common sense. Why would Jermaine leave London at this point in his career? Even if he did wish to leave Tottenham, he would be offered more cash at a whole hosts of clubs in the south of England or in cities. Also i'd expect him to stay at Spurs, being one of 'Arrys old boys.
Roost Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 CryerRovers Andrew Cryer Again heard the defoe rumour yesterday. I'm sure Rovers would like him, but will it happen? No. why does he always have to put a downer on everything I dont even read his tweets anymore - he is so negative. How does he know what will happen? I am not that impressed with other names put forward, but thats all they are at the moment. Hopefully they have learnt to keep their powder dry and make approaches in the correct manner. We will see.
hawkiiz Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Just a note on the phantom tweeter, he later tweeted "i have been twitter rapped, ignore my last tweets on rovers" so that makes this all very confusing to say the least. What's the twitter @ name?
John Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Just couldnt see Defoe moving here, would be very surprised if that one happened. If he was for sale, would there be other clubs in for him? If not, and he has nowhere else to go, then there may be a chance.
Ricky Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 So the one deal that Nicko said definitely wouldn't be happening has happened. looks like the LET were on the money with that one from the start, despite them getting slated on here by many for having a different (and correct) view than the national press. welcome back Benjani!!
A cup of beans Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 CryerRovers Andrew Cryer Again heard the defoe rumour yesterday. I'm sure Rovers would like him, but will it happen? No. why does he always have to put a downer on everything i dont trust much of what he writes. he is always vague when interviewed on talksport too. look at his transfer links and a lot have proved to be nonsense.
roverandout Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 why the hell are you all so negative about defoe? who says it wont happen? who would have thought he would join portsmouth? ( i know theyre a southern club) If he has ambitions to play for england regulary then maybe he will say yes, who would have thought andy cole would have come here? Lets be honest how many london clubs want/or could get defoe? chelsea, arsenal, they wouldnt be interested. QPR - no chance, fulham? possibly. That really only leaves aload of midlands and northern clubs.
booth Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Disappointing to hear the Twitter guy coming out and saying to ignore the Defoe tweet. I don't know what's more disheartening, when we weren't being linked to anyone of any note, or being linked to lots of quality players and not getting any of them. I feel like every day a juicier carrot gets dangled but we never manage to get a bite.

Also i'd expect him to stay at Spurs, being one of 'Arrys old boys. although your point about wanting to stay in london is logical, his options are very limited. arsenal and chelski havent shown interest, so that leaves fulham or QPR. another thing i may have overlooked is.. i seem to recall him being good friends with dunny. maybe from a press interview back in their U21 days ??
