Pedro Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Hmmm, it's kind of like being asked who is your favourite all time mass murder or which is your favourite way to meet a prolonged and excrutiating death.

chris Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 I take it that means you want us to lose........why would a rover hope martinez gets sacked sod all to do with us No where did I say that in the post? do you think the winning manager will get sacked or something? If Blackburn lose our fans should feel its the last straw and the same for the Wigan fans I'd imagine.
Audax Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Those players for Wigan are missing some fairly good opportunities like Yak's chance yesterday but Wigan seem to be doing it more. You wonder if Mtz. can get the hair dryer out, same thing for that Villas Boas fellow at Chelsea. Too mild.
Clitherover Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 No-brainer. Martinez would do a good job with our squad, resources are very limited at Wigan and that's why they are struggling. Also he isn't the sort of bloke to accuse fans of spiking his drinks.
Brfcrule1 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Also remember Wigan had old red noses side kick to ruin Wigan before RM took over.
Miker Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Those players for Wigan are missing some fairly good opportunities like Yak's chance yesterday but Wigan seem to be doing it more. You wonder if Mtz. can get the hair dryer out, same thing for that Villas Boas fellow at Chelsea. Too mild. Spot on. Villas-Boas has had it too easy with the clubs he's been at. I'm sure he can maintain the team's motivation when they're on a good run, but if they start performing poorly and struggling they need a kick in the head not a cuddle. Same thing for Martinez and Kean. One of the things that makes me think Kean will never succeed is just that. He needs to call it like it is, not coddle the players. He only takes players off if they're injured or playing well. I can't remember the last time he's taken a player off for playing poorly, if he's done it at all.
chris Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 just looked at their website they have a thread called "who should replace Martinez? some suggestions are: Avram Grant Steve McCleren (copy and paste) Joe Kinnear Ian Holloway Mark Hughes I can see they really aren't looking for anything speical. Didn't spot Steve Kean on the list.
eire3382 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 There is no manager who comes close to Kean this year. If Wigan are stupid enopugh to sack martinez surely he would be high on the Rovers wanted list
chris Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 I think a Blackburn fan has already been on the Wigan website: Why are you all so unhappy with him? He's managed to get you 5 whole points, quite miraculous considering the shower of f**kin sh!t you have on the pitch. And don't even get me started on your sh1t "support". You're a f**kin embarrassment to football. C**ts.
PAFELL Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I think we should recommend Kean for the scotland job. He will feel at home there, country wise, also the fact they don't win nothing either.
grizfoot Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I guess we'll find out in or next game... For me Martinez has done a decent job at Wigan with the resources he's had available. Seemingly at the end of every season Wigan's key players are snatched by bigger clubs but yet he still manages to keep them up. Wigan seem to lack a cutting edge upfront, they do actually play decent football at times but it's worth nothing is you don't put your chances away. Funnily enough Wigan managed to score four against us last season. We've got a far better players at our disposal in my opinion yet are only one point above Wigan, says it all really.
Steve Moss Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Martinez is head and shoulders above Kean, both as a manager and as a person. I want Rovers to win at Wigan, but I don't think it will be a walk in the park despite all the advantages we have as we have a large disadvantage: Kean.
rebelmswar Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I want Rovers to win at Wigan, but I don't think it will be a walk in the park despite all the advantages we have as we have a large disadvantage: Kean. Its like going swiming with a Ford Fiesta chained to your leg.
chris Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 putting my finger on it I think I always find that Martinez lacks confidence, he look weak and no leader ship skills. I really don;t know for sure thats just how I see him. 20th says he is doing something wrong. Kean is over confident to the point it's not believeable.
sharpysharps Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Unfortunately for Martinez he will never progress or improve as a manager whilst he is at Wigan. I think he gets them playing decent passing football but they can't finish teams off and they leak goals for fun (sound familiar?). Wigan are such a small club, alot smaller than Rovers thats for sure, they have a background of primarily lower league football, their ground is an empty shell whenever I see it on MOTD and they have an owner who can't realisticly compete with most other owners of other Premiership clubs. They had a surprise season under Paul Jewell in their first campaign, and since then they have only really had 1 good season and that was under Steve Bruce when they had Valencia playing for them. They have somehow managed to stay in the league in all the other seasons but football moves so quickly, especially in financial terms and Dave Whelan simply can't give Martinez enough money to compete even with the other bottom half Premiership teams. I think RM missed a trick in not going to Villa in the summer which is where we would all have had a clearer view of whether he is a decent manager or not. I don't think Martinez is a particularly good manager and I wouldn't have him at Rovers but I do think he has got the best out of his pretty poor squad of players. The fact that Franco Di Santo is their top scorer this season says it all doesn't it? We found out that guy was total pants (except for the 1 goal against the dingles) over 2 years ago! Dave Whelan won't be sacking him because he knows that really Wigan should be in the Championship and he knows that in that division RM would most likely thrive just as he did at Swansea. As for Steve Kean - he'll get the Wigan game because if he was going to get sacked it would have been after we last got stuffed and played badly, which hasn't been for 4 games. I am definately not in favour of Kean but I just think that if Venky's are paying any attention what so ever to the fixtures and results this season then they will have identified that we have a run games were we should be aiming for 4 wins (Wigan away, Swansea, WBA and Bolton all at home). I am pretty sure they will use these games as the basis on keeping Kean or not if they actually do care at all, which is questionable! Of course the problem with using these games to base whether they need to sack Kean or not is inredibly risky business because I remember last season we played great stuff and lost at home to Spurs 0-1 and the following game was Wigan away. Despite the fact the pitch was a disgrace that day we got beat 4-3 and where cut open by Wigan repeatedly and thus started that terrible run without a win.
rebelmswar Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Or a taxi. A much more fitting mode of transportation.
Baz Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Premier League points 2011 to date: Wigan 27 Bolton 26 Rovers 22
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted November 8, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted November 8, 2011 Roberto Martinez is actually a Manager with a track record of success before the Wigan appointment. Kean is a non-entity. My thoughts exactly. Martinez is a manager and has been for a few years, he was also offered the Aston Villa job in the summer, fancy any other club wanting Steve Kean when he is no longer manager of Rovers. This thread is just capitalising on Wigan's current league position.
booth Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Premier League points 2011 to date: Wigan 27 Bolton 26 Rovers 22 Interesting, thanks for that.
Miker Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Really don't rate Martinez at all. He has been struggling with results at Wigan the whole time he's been there. They're barely surviving each season. Their team isn't as awful as people are making out on here, yet he's only finished 16th twice in 2 full seasons. Under Martinez, they've suffered some of the worst defeats out of any team in the league. How many times have they lost by 4 goals or more? People say he's a nice guy, I agree, but that doesn't make him a good manager. I'm sure people from other clubs think Kean is a nice guy too. I thought it was ridiculous that Aston Villa went for him as their new manager. In fairness to Kean, despite his shambolic tactics and inadequate decision-making, we've rarely suffered massive defeats. Although, personally I think we'ven been very lucky not to. Both managers are really poor in my opinion. I wouldn't want either at the club.
