Guest Norbert Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 It seems to be his style though. Oyston is the biggest fool for hiring Ince. Unless..............it was all part of a plan to lower the expectations of the fans, as they get used to being an inconsistent 1st division team rather than one that needs to buy big(ish) to get into the Premier League

FGS5635 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 With the Blackppol game being the day after the transfer window closes, lets hope Tom Ince has gone and Paul Ince is still incharge, becasue that will be a banker 3 points
thenodrog Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Oyston hiring Paul Ince would imo simply be a ploy to maximise any profit from Tom. Quite right too from a business perspective. Rem the Oystons only God is money.

Guest Norbert Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 My day just keeps getting better (long story).
niggit Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Bye bye Paul Ince, wonder if Blackpool will get branded the same as we did.
Audax Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 A lot of people here said this would happen and they were right. I still look at that "violent conduct" incident and that seems in part to be where the wheels came off. First with draws and then the losses. Would have happened anyway.
Guest Norbert Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I don't know what they put in the food on match day to get so many players sent off either, but they had better stop it. 9 red cards now I think, as well as Ince's ban. I don't remember our team being axe murderers when he was in charge. I fully expect Ferguson to keep up the good work though.
FGS5635 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 West Ham have supposedly bid for Ross MCCormack. That would stick a fork in Leeds and take away the one prem side I figured could possibly bid for Rhodes
Stuart Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 West Ham have supposedly bid for Ross MCCormack. That would stick a fork in Leeds and take away the one prem side I figured could possibly bid for Rhodes Maybe Leeds would then go for Rhodes.
FGS5635 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Maybe Leeds would then go for Rhodes. They can try

I cant imagine that he's a Big Sam type of player.
arbitro Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 I cant readily think of one less likely to go for Rhodes tbh. I cant imagine that he's a Big Sam type of player. I'd be just as surprised if he signed McCormack. He seems very similar in his style of play to Rhodes.

longsiders1882 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 We've closed the gap on Derby and Forest today and we have those two teams next. Next two games are massive and we could make up some serious ground on teams on the top 6. Derby`s bubble seems to have burst and don't see them getting top 6. I don't see Ipswich getting top 6 either. Burnley will prob make the playoffs now. 13 points off automatic promotion. We couldn't, could we? So, having played those 2 games, how do you assess where your season is going? Just 3 points from the top 6 but now 14 away from automatic, with QPR and us having a game in hand on you in second and third respectively.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted January 26, 2014 Moderation Lead Posted January 26, 2014 Unless things change massively in terms of our play, no chance of play offs. If we play more adventurously, we'll be in the mix I feel, 3 points isn't a big gap to make up....
Backroom Tom Posted January 26, 2014 Backroom Posted January 26, 2014 So, having played those 2 games, how do you assess where your season is going? Just 3 points from the top 6 but now 14 away from automatic, with QPR and us having a game in hand on you in second and third respectively. We're a long way off mate we lack a few players and a manager with the nouse to get us where we need to be. If it's a rebuilding job it looks good if it's all or nothing it looks terrible. We seem to be constantly between 4 and 2 point from the top 6 and incapable of putting a run of more than 2 games together however if we stay within one result of the playoffs going into the final few games you never know. At present I think Leicster and Derby to go up with you beating QPR at Wembeley
Rover_Shaun Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 If we play more adventurously, we'll be in the mix I feel, 3 points isn't a big gap to make up.... And it's been around that gap for months. As you say unless Bowyer bucks up his ideas the race will be over before the last day of the season

IF we make the play offs, which I guess we really should now, I will make no predictions, it is all about performing on the day(s). Your run in looks reasonable, only 2 of the top 10 away. Big February for you, get those 2 out of the way and if you are in touch you have a real chance to get top 6 and the play off lottery.
Backroom Tom Posted January 26, 2014 Backroom Posted January 26, 2014 I feel it doesn't matter who we play we are as capable as beating the top team as we are losing to the bottom team You just never know when we are going to turn up and we seem to beat ourselves at times
Audax Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Leicester City has been steadily increasing their point total in 1st place, they have 60 points, I look at last year, Cardiff went up with 87, 2nd. Hull City 79, automatic promo. Last year: http://int.soccerway.com/national/england/championship/20122013/regular-season/r17951/ So Leicester looks real good, I'm sure there are cases where clubs have faltered. Looks like 19 more fixtures. 2011-2012 for comparison: http://int.soccerway.com/national/england/championship/2011-2012/regular-season/r14844/
longsiders1882 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 This may - or may not - be of interest. Is based on data upto 2011 so a little out of date but I think it is still largely accurate:
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 What happens in the transfer window will tell you what chance we've got of the play offs. We've managed to move out most of the wasters. Let's see who, if anybody, we bring in. With the players we've got at the moment I can't see us making the play-offs. Our Achilles heel is the one we've had for over the last three years now, a total lack of experienced management at all levels of the club.
Commondore Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 This may - or may not - be of interest. Is based on data upto 2011 so a little out of date but I think it is still largely accurate: The average number of points for 6th place in the last 5 years is, as my signature says, 73.
Blue blood Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Not sure what planet that plonker Redknapp is on. Short on quality according to him. IMO one of the most overrated managers ever. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25946236
