Proudtobeblue&white Posted July 13, 2019 Posted July 13, 2019 It will be a crying shame if England don't carry off the WC tomorrow. We have now beaten all three of the other top four teams, No one can complain about the format. The final is between two teams who have never triumphed previously. Can't wait (though going to Anglesey tomorrow, such terrible lack of planning!), so radio and phone essential till I get there! Come on England/Wales! Quote

Husky Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Cometh the day. Is this the biggest day in England's sporting history since 2003? (Rugby WC Final). Probably. Quote

I liked that format, as everyone played everyone, so there was no chance of a top team getting an easy draw and getting into a semi final. Quote
matt83 Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 You know we’re a pretty unsuccessful sporting nation when drawing upon will Greenwood and Geoff hurst for final winning inspiration at the cricket World Cup final. Slim pickins over the years. Although we do play a variety compared to other nations. Quote
matt83 Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Wouldn’t fancy chasing much over 250. Clearly something in this pitch. But on the plus side all of their batsmen have got starts. Could just be my innate pessimism but I still see a batting bottle job. Quote
oldjamfan1 Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Riding our luck but I think we were due some Quote
matt83 Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 3 consecutive maidens. We’re getting bogged down. This is when we usually play rash shots and collapse Quote
matt83 Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Root is in as the night watchman 3 off nearly 4 overs. Quote
Husky Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Hmmmm. Root. He looks good in the runs column (normally) but he doesn't half crab around and seems to lack the bottle for a chase. Who is going to be the hero now? Quote

Norbert Rassragr Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 England is a nation of cowards, bottle jobs, weak willed morons and flat track bullies when it comes to any sport. Or life. Every player in this squad barring the bowlers should never play 1 day cricket again. How many times must we choke at the merest of pressure? Quote
Norbert Rassragr Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 (edited) It will happen. stokes and Buttler can't be relied on, as both like to hit it out the ground and the Kiwis have the squeeze on all game. We'd need both to play brilliantly and be aggressive yet sensible and I can't see both doing that. They'll try to hit Boult or Henry and give an easy catch away. At least it is new Zealand, a country I really like and I have a ticket to see Rammstein at the Ricoh. Edited July 14, 2019 by Norbert Rassragr Quote

England do have this knack of making a 4th bowler seem amazing. Remember the West Indies series when their 'spinner' suddenly turned into Shane Warne for a day? Quote
matt83 Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Windies needed 4 balls to get that vs us in the icc final. Just can’t see us getting close. Quote
