Oh not this old bollocks again stemming from an in some cases inacurate table posted on social media.

Same thing that was telling us Wigan amd Rotherham have populations of 300k plus whilst lumping Blackburn in with Darwen but just giving singular populations of other towns.

Lazy stuff.

To be fair to them they are still in their early bird period but I believe they are only expecting to sell c5k… I suppose keeping hold of STs is harder when they had an empty ground for years until recently.

• The estimate is based upon the total number of saleable seats to home supporters (18,210), minus the amount of unavailable (sold) seats.
• (+xx) represents the difference in season ticket sales from the previous estimate (usually 24 hours).
• 159 seats in block W01 are marked as unavailable (sold), but are not saleable due to being cordoned-off. These are therefore excluded from the season ticket estimate.
• 376 seats for supporters requiring ground-level font-row access are marked as unavailable (sold), but appear to be block-reserved rather than fully sold. These are therefore excluded from the season ticket estimate.
• A seat is marked as unavailable for up to 28 minutes when added to the basket. It is not possible to exclude these from the estimate.

For Preston you can't ignore adding South Ribble's population on to Preston's. That makes a total of c260K, actually a lot closer to JohnD's first attempt. But all the other numbers need reviewing as well, hence the analysis is pointless.

What are the % from the season before PNE and Bolton slashed the prices of their ST's? 

Also Blackpool have sold nowhere near 8K, more like 2k according to a tweet from BFC that someone posted on here.

Also, also.....you've quoted the BwD population, not just Blackburn.

What your figures do show though is how well-supported Rovers are even when being ripped off in comparison to the other Lancs clubs.

A near 50% increase on the previous day’s sales 😀 (sounds better than an extra 5 right?? 😁)

His first attempt was Preston's confirmed metro population which is about 340k, that will include South Ribble. Preston's city population is closer to 150k, still bigger than Blackburn town, but about the same as BwD.

I completely agree. You’d have to include the ribble valley (where a lot of support for Rovers comes from, Wilpshire, Mellor, Clitheroe, Whalley…)

JohnD claims Preston and Bolton are better supported clubs than Rovers, yet can’t come up with ANY proof of his (wrong) claim.

The 340k would have included the wider Chorley Borough (not just Chorley town) too, and that is certainly no PNE stronghold with a load of Bolton and Rovers fans residing there.

That’s why it is a pointless exercise.

We sold just over 9000 last season with half season tickets I think, knock £100 off and we’d possibly shift 10k.

Our average gates are around 14k, with away support, the numbers don’t stack up.

Success on the pitch brings punters through the gate and season ticket increases, we need promotion, not £100 discount.

PNE knocked £100 or so off and went from c8k to 12k, you said yourself the other day that we are the better club, so why wouldn’t we do the same?

Done some research for the figures before the early bird schemes.

Preston sold 7.557 in 21/22 then around 12,000 in 22/23. This season they extended the early bird for  another 24 hours on Saturday and sold a further 300, and are now on 11,300 for 23/24

Bolton sold 10.500 in 21/22 and introduced their early bird in 222/23 , sold 14.300. This season they have just gone past 15.000, 

So it has been a great success and shows that people attract people.

Last season was PNE's biggest season ticket  uptake for 50 years

In the summer of 2009 were in the same league as we had been for the last few years, had just achieved our worst finish and lowest points total  since relegation and had the supposed anti-christ of football Big Sam managing us.

So why that summer did we achieve our highes sales ST since 1995? It surely couldn't  have been the £100 discount could it?

Thanks for that. So Bolton and PNE increased ST sales by 3.8k and 4.5k respectively after reducing prices. 

No reason it wouldn't happen at Rovers.
