Rachel Dugdale was on 5 Live Breakfast - you can listen on BBC sounds and go back to about 6:28 - spoke well about the situation. Hopefully the criticism of the owners makes it back to them and isn't screened out by the board (which is what I personally think happens to a lot of the discontent). Perhaps the most telling line from what she said was along the basis of 'we fought all season to prevent relegation, yet the club has now self-relegated'.

Some of our fans defending this decision on social media are thick beyond comprehension. They are an absolute dream for the owners and directors.

I'm afraid there is always a market for stupidity.

I honestly believe this is going to get worse. Redundancies and deliberately relegating the womens team is a mere taster of what is to come.

I read this morning that the vast majority of the players affected by this culling won't have the support of the PFA. The BBC article says you have to have played in the WSL to attain membership. Some of these will have nowhere to go for advice and it wouldn't surprise me if the shysters at Ewood took full advantage of this.

Shame on the PFA.

Perhaps one of our very well paid male players could fund their legal fees.

That thought crossed my mind too.

I don't expect any of them to but it would be refreshing if some of the senior men spoke out. After all it could be them next.

Not a current player obviously but Bennett  providing some funds for them wouldn’t surprise me.

Dingle FC Women to go full-time pros - and could replace Rovers

Not sure if this was always planned, or if they are jumping on the opportunity

Meanwhile the former leading side in Lancashire will be playing below teams like Sporting Khalsa and Loughborough.

Embarrassing, the Venkys effect.
