I can't remember which bank it said it was but i know it wasn't the usual State Bank of India. It's always been my view that however it was purchased they got that money back pretty quickly through player sales. For balance though that article quotes only one bit of the company - Venkys India Ltd - which itself comes under the main head company of VH Group. Allegedly back in their father's time the Governor of Pune carved up all the land in and around Pune to their father and another couple of local business men. As such they own much of the land and buildings in and around Pune which is where their real wealth comes from. The opinions I've heard are that as such when someone looks at their Companies and says they're worth £2 billion or £4 billion or whatever, far from overstating their wealth it's vastly understating it. I've never seen anything official to confirm or refute this, would be interesting to hear from those with local knowledge as to whether they think this is true or an old wives tale. Quote
Tomphil2 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Think its been well documented the VH group is worth at least a billion although that might be in Indian money terms. Whether the land and all the assets they own is covered by that or separate who knows ? A handy way to make useless swathes of rough land pay though would be secure borrowings against it to run a foreign entity and cream a bit off for yourselves year on year. That theory has been presented on here in the past and it might hold a bit of water when considering they won't sell because they cannot afford to without losing land. 1 Quote

The "overachieving" against clubs with more "financial muscle" from him looks like the usual spiel. It doesn't help, as many will run with it. However, I think he has put his real feelings across here in a subtle way here: "In order to be successful, you need to keep hold of these (Szmodics) type of players" "I pray they get back to some stability and get a benefactor who wants to spend some money and give them a chance to get back to the promised lands in the Premier League". I think he knows these bastards don't want to spend. They don't give us a chance to go up, but he can't be as blunt as that. Quote
StHelensRover Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) Someone else said something on here recently that made me sad when I thought about it - None of our legends or cult heroes from the last 3 decades have done anything to speak up about the plight of the club and it is disappointing. Our fans were absolutely savaged by the media during the Kean era and we've become an afterthought and a backwater since we dropped out the prem, no one cares about what has happened. I think the closest thing to any sort of dissent maybe occasionally comes from Chris Sutton, but we're only his 4th or 5th favourite team after Forest, Norwich and Celtic so he's not that bothered. Tomphil2 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Gestede is just here for the wheeling and dealing of players imo and that's why he was brought in plus a nice new shield for the other guy who'll throw him under the bus the min he thinks it's necessary. I don't buy the 'shadowing Waggot on work experience' for one minute he's more likely been parachuted straight in from somewhere to help oust Waggot so they can carry out their latest plan unchallenged. 3 Quote

Tomphil2 Posted 9 minutes ago Posted 9 minutes ago (edited) It was only a matter of time before 'the card' was played it was done last time. Doesn't help when muppets chant the name of someone who has zero connection to the club though. Playing right into the hands of those who have their own agenda they want to push. Chant the players names instead don't give the MSM the chance it's waiting for to find a suitable 'far right' target to smear and don't give those the chance to infiltrate the fanbase and use it as their vehicle. We've more than enough problems already so lets keep it clean. Edited 7 minutes ago by Tomphil2 2 Quote
