It took him a while to get us going, basically the last few games of last season, and that was largely Szmodics stepping up. He doesn't have that time at Derby and he doesn't have a Szmodics either. Getting out of League 1 no easy feat either these days.

Big, big gamble he's taken. If he gets relegated with Derby and then can't get them up at first attempt it could damage his career trajectory immensely.

He knew all of that going into it and still chose that over staying at Rovers.

But I'm sure it's nothing to do with venkys and their lap dogs, it's all just Eustace being a snake.

Yeah, it's scary that he'd rather take that huge risk than stay here even for another few months. Makes you wonder what's lurking beneath the surface. I don't think it can just be incompetence and lack of budget.

Can't rule out the ol' snake theory though, of course.

Another career Venky's and Waggott have harmed then? 🤔

Well done John Eustace - mission almost accomplished at Derby.

Delighted for him after his disillusionment here.

Will be even sweeter if Nob End are condemned to Lg1.

Even if they go down, the turnaround there has been remarkable. From memory they were on something like 29 points when he arrived and in torrid form. I remember going over their team, form and fixtures and posting that the chances of him getting them out of that mess are really low. If they stay up then, with sensible investment, Eustace could easily have them challenging for playoffs next season. If they go down then a lot will depend on how their club deals with that in the summer - as a manager, Eustace is more than capable of getting them back up at the first time of asking.

With that said, even if they go down, one imagines Eustace will have seen his reputation rise in the eyes of many Championship decision-makers. To take us into playoff contention and then pull Derby out of their tailspin to the point where their destiny is in their own hands is impressive. Evidence suggests it takes a few games for his methods to kick in, but once they do then things start going in the right direction quickly. One would wonder if there might be a Championship club thinking 'this guy might be our ticket into unlikely playoff contention on a low budget, let's try and convince him to come here'.

I have a bet with a Nobber friend on who will finish higher in the league. A few weeks ago there were only a few points in It and we had nosedived massively.

It's remarkable how quickly fortunes can change in a league like the Championship.

I'm happy for Eustace in a way but by the same token he did bail out and a lot of Derby fans have shown themselves to be delusional so i'm half hoping they drop.

However if Preston dropped instead i'd chip in for a bus parade around Derby for Eustace.

One thing you can guarantee with the knobbers is they do second half of the season combustion's better than even Rovers ever do and they argue they are the best run club in Lancs 🤔

Next week-end, will be the first time I have wanted the ding-dongs and the Nobbers to win.
