No first team players since December 2023.

The club and it's apologists will no doubt count Riberio and Forshaw though.

I thought as much. Ribeiro I presume already had a deal agreed prior to his initial signing if both parties agreed to it. Forshaw would probably have signed anything we waved under his nose as he wouldn't have any other offers.

So we either have nobody at the club capable of structuring a contract renewal, or we simply do not want to - i fail to see how it can't be 1 of these 2 scenarios and either is equally as pathetic for a championship club, well any pro football club really.

I can't blame Brittain for wanting out because at 27 years old this is his last meaty contract before be passes 30 and starts getting offered shorter less lucrative deals. He could have gone about it better though, refusing to play is a cunts trick. Suppose he'll have seen it worked for Szmodics though so he's now expecting the same.Β

He could have been earning more for the last 18 months if he had signed a new contract around 8-10k a week but also you are missing the role with the team structure and the fact he was key player under Eustace and Ismael. What has he got now? still out of contract and what's his next move to?Β

Also what you don't repeatably factoring into your thinking every time that Dolan and his agent will have know for the 6 months he wasn't going re-sign here, so his agent surely would have been putting feelers out to other clubs yet 13 days after he officially left us he is still no club, training on his own and we all wonder what offers he is getting tbh. I wouldn't be surprise if he ended at Derby or Bristol City cos of the lack of offers overseas.Β

I was fan of Brittain before he joined us and I say he was the right type of attacking full back we should be signing. We signed Brittain 3 years ago and last summer we should have been tying down Brittain, Travis and Tronstad not leaving it so and now within the last 12 months we are now scrambling to get new contracts sorted. Brittain will be huge miss and we will miss his attacking and defensively attitudesΒ

How do you know that he was offered Β£8-10k? Youve just made that figure up and I would be very surprised if it was that high.

Talk about "team structures" etc is naive. If hes being massively underpaid he wont sign, no one would. Its not like he is playing for a club with any ambition either.

Him not having decided by now does not prove any bad advice. As I said, if he ends up downgrading and on a short term deal at a lower level, then I will accept that its similar to Nyambe. If he ends up at the level of team you mention, then he hasnt been given bad advice, hes made a move to a similar level of club but with more money and more ambition.

Good to see you talking sense on the contracts after previously shutting me down for constantly banging on about it. Now you can see why it was so important as its taking over the summer.

Hyam will probably be happy to extent on his current terms whereas Tronstad they are probably lowballing and Travis will definitely want a pay-rise.Β

Can’t believe our luck sometimes also… stress fracture. How severe can it be if he didn’t notice?

That’s not relevant to my response - hyam goes your leaving two injury prone cbs as guaranteed starters meaning at least 2 new cbs required - hyam bags of experience and more than capable of holding his own in the champ

Yes it is.Β  I get your argument for keeping Hyam.Β  He said, he'd rather Hyam go than the others.Β  You are highlighting the positives of Hyam staying.Β  What about the qualities of the other 3? Some may rate those more highly than Hyam.Β

Ideally, we wouldn't be having the conversation in the first place because they would all have signed new deals.Β

Personally, out of the 4, it would be a close call between the 2 midfielders for me.Β

Why you deleted that I don't know. The most incisive post on here for a long time.

I re-read it and got very depressed. Thought, just what is the point. I don't think I care any more. It's like being locked up for life and not being able to find the escape tunnel. I thought to spare you all from my torment and hit delete.

Been there. Thanks for sparing us your darkest inner thoughts. We share your pain. RIP the Real Rovers!

He was excellent last season and player of the season in his first season.

He is also reliable on the injury front and not made of glass.

Were you not one of those that said he was useless without an experienced CB next to him?

So Britain is leaving a we need a new Rb, who is available and would come

We already got the replacement in. Watch Ryan's first interview, at the end he starts going on about how signing for the club now allows him to showcase his talent by playing week in week out, towards the end.

No.

He is better with experience beside him but I think most would be.

Hyam was good with Carter in his first year but when theyve played together since weve struggled and I have never understood why Carter's reputation has always remained intact and he hasnt been questioned and its all put on Hyam.

Regarding loyalty, why would a player be loyal to rovers? Everyone wants to better themselves I don’t care what you say, have rovers shown any intent to better themselves? We’ve been stagnant for years and we will be for years to come. If we shown more ambition, intent, drive, and actually had a plan going forward we wouldn’t be seeing players leaving for your standard championship club, even worse managers leaving for relegation threatened clubs. We’re a club that doesn’t build upon the good, we allow key players to leave for buttons and replace with nobody’s, can’t even remember the last time we had a outstanding player and thought let’s add to him, not this club, sell him, replace cheaper and start the cycle again. Would I want to be apart of that if I was a player? They know the club is rotten, boring, and run by clowns.Β

Carter's already hobbled off injured in his first game of the season, that's part of the reason a new Hyam contract would be very much welcomed, at least he can stay bloody fit

It would be sods law if he was the the only one who signed - of all the players with a year left he's probably the one I wouldn't care about leaving.

Any time he doesn't have someone more experienced next to him he's a complete liability.

100% agree.

Him extending would be a bit of depressing news on top of all the other bad news for me.

I think Hyam was playing next to Wharton when he had one of his few good spells in the first half of his first season.

Carter's injury proneness has become a real problem. I feel for him, but the team needs someone more reliable to partner Hyam.

We also can't expect Scott Wharton to just fill the void after his own long term injury. The club desperately needs a replacement for Danny Batth.

Our right hand side will look like absolute sh*t if Brittain gets sold with no proper winger and a downgrade replacement at right back (Alebiosu). Our central defence without experience (Batth) is going to concede plenty of goals; Hyam is a liability without guidance, Wharton trying to ease himself back from a long-term injury and Carter picking up an injury already in the first friendly. If any of Tronstad or Travis gets sold as well, there you're looking at a weakened defensive midfield who might not be able to shield central defence. This could go really bad very easily if these issues aren't addressed properly.Β

We aren’t going into the new season with 1 right back we will 100% be signing anotherΒ

Duru in reserve... once he is fit again

As per Gestede - "we need to increase the minutes on the pitch for our academy players"

So hyam who played every minute last season you wouldn’t care if he was to go. So him gone batth gone carter and Wharton injury prone you’d be happy with that? StrangeΒ

Hyam still playing every minute is as much an indictment on our recruitment than anything, but in any case that wasn't my point at all. My point was that if I was to choose out of Travis, Brittain, Tronstad and Hyam he's by far the least important to the team.Β

Batth is clearly the bigger loss of the two CBs.Β
