Ismael said that we arent close to anything and that we will get players in "when we can."

I hope doing business hasnt become less of a priority now we have filled a few squad spots or off the back of winning friendlies. Still certainly short and also need some things resolving.

I’m expecting it to pick back up once the Spain trip is doneΒ

Not only that, a couple of friendlies in which you would have a strong argument to say that Cantwell was our best player.

Still also dont understand calling McLoughlin a terrible signing either.

What's Cantwell done in a season that makes you think he's any good? Based on his past he's fantastic pre Rovers.

In a Rovers shirt I've not seen anything to tell me he's a championship level player, probably even league 1.

In 2 friendlies I'd prefer Tyjon over Cantwell.

Mcloughlin looked poor today. Wharton miles ahead of him.

On the transfer front, he added: "There is nothing close at the minute but we are working hard behind the scenes. We want more players and we will get them when we can."

you missed out some important bits of the quote. You know, the positive bits. Reads slightly differently when you include it all!

Not seen the game today but a bit of negativity towards McCloughlin already. The guy has not long signed, still getting used to his new team and manager. Give him a chance!!

Why does it have to come down to positives and negatives every time?

The main point is that we are not close to signing anyone.

Β Because you manage the put a negative slant on most things. Β You missed out the important bits of the quote and then made up a scenario that implied we weren’t really looking as hard anymore. Weird.Β

I think its a crazy thing to say even from the 2 friendlies. Cantwell started them both and was arguably our best player in both.Β

He didnt have a very good first season overall but he had 2 spells (right near the end and one before Christmas) where he did well. In competitive games. He has obviously done more in a Rovers shirt than Tyjon who has barely worn one at senior level.

Im not on about today with McLoughlin. He had that one mix up together with Ribeiro but otherwise he was fine. But you said he was a terrible signing when he hadnt been confirmed. I asked why you think that but for whatever reason you ignored it. Terrible is a strong word so I wanted some clarity on why you felt so strongly.

No I didn't, I just said that I hope that urgency hasnt reduced.

What you are suggesting wouldnt even be "negative" from me but youve made a massive deal out of it.

Havent been negative about any of our signings, suggested a few of our players could have better seasons for various reasons, but suppose its a hard tag to shake though especially when one or two like yourself seem intent on policing it.

Beauty of opinions eh.

I just have been more impressed by Tyjon than I have Cantwell when I compare like for like in a Rovers shirt.

So the Brittain was set to join Derby was fake news as Ismael said post game. Good.Β

Stop drinking the beer lad cos you are talking utter bullshit, I have always said Shearer was my favourite ever Rovers player and always was. He was my hero when I was growing up. Others favourite players but just behind Shearer are Mark Atkins, Tugay, Matt Jansen, Brad Freidel, Ryan Nelsen, Roque Santa Cruz and Craig Conway.Β

Cantwell was the best player on the pitch against EvertonΒ

I find that crazy considering you are basing it on a couple of friendlies in which Cantwell played twice as long in and stood out, but there you go.

But the Mcloughlin one. Had you said underwhelming or something similar, it might not have been as shocking. But to say terrible, I was hoping for a bit more reasoning just for the sake of discussion.

Surely it's the opposite - there's no more hiding from the problem in structured training sessions.Β

We have a glaring need at RW, CM (there's not enough depth) and CB. Tyjon is a nice surprise, but you'd like another in that 3 behind the CF for the inevitable Cantwell injury.

They'll probably fill those positions with loans at this stage - it's what they usually do.

No, you quoted the bit that allowed you to invent a scenario where the intensity of the player search had reduced. The reality is they are β€˜working hard behind the scenes’ and β€˜want more players’, but you didn’t quote that.Β
Β

There will be plenty of negative stuff to get your teeth into as the season progresses, you don’t need to invent any!πŸ˜‰

One thing I'll say for Tyjon - he's more decisive with the ball. Cantwell loves a fancy flick and trick, often to his detriment. Tyjon gets it under control and drives towards goal.Β

Need a striker too. Moreso than a central midfielder IMO but I would like both.

Hopefully its not just loans from here on in. Maybe one or two at a push. Definitely should buy a new right winger.

Difficult to bring in a CF when you have Gueye and Ohashi - PL teams won't loan you their best if they're third in the pecking order and you don't really want to buy a backup.Β

Let's not piss about haggling on the A tier loans and missing out.Β  Let's get the B+s rather than argue the toss and end up with the B-sΒ

Someone as a more direct alternative to Ohashi. Gueye can be an impact sub if needed.

Maybe someone who can play up front or wide right

Agree. There aren't enough staff in the club to cope with a tour logistics and signing players.Β

One or both of those first two reek of going to the Dingles

Those bits aren't important, they're the usual bullshit we get every Transfer Window.
