Interesting to look back;

"We need a left-sided centre-back, that's been obvious. Scott Wharton has been missing all season, we don't want to put pressure on him when he's back and expect him to play every week. It will not work. We need someone to cover this position.," McLoughlin, but at this time we have to presume they didn't know Batth would be leaving...

"On the right, we need cover for Callum Brittain. We have Leo Duru but we need some business in this area.ย Alebiosu - but presumably he was the 'cover'... so when Brittain goes, assume we'll sign another, or we're further back than square one.ย

"Right-wing, we have Amario, who is going back. Tyrhys is the only other player in this position.ย Well, we lost both of those players, so do we need one or two?

"We want a number eight, a box-to-box type of midfielder and we don't have that at the minute. That's something we need to cover.ย I don't think Tavares is box-to-box is he?ย  Presume their target for this is Baradji (complicated and in doubt)

"We want some power up front to challenge the two strikers we have"ย Nothing yet.ย

ย

So, I'd say we are absolutely miles off what Gestede said we needed back in April, never mind the fact that since then Dolan, Weimann and Batth have all left, with Brittain likely.ย

The trouble with these clowns is that half the time they don't seem to be able to remember what they've said previously so they're tripping themselves up all the time.

Even with the "official" Club statements.

Decided to have a look at current free agents since transfer rumours have gone a bit quiet lately:

Oli McBurnie (29) - proven at Championship level. We were supposedly after him in the last transfer window but not now? Would add much needed experience and competition for a starting spot up front. Would also allow Leonard to go out on loan to a L1 or L2 club.

Grady Diangana (27) - also proven at Championship level. Lost his place to Tom Fellows last season, hence a dip in playing minutes. Would be more than an adequate replacement for Dolan on the right wing. Also fits into team's style since he's athletic and a decent dribbler.ย

Fraser Forster (37) - bit of a gamble due to his age but feels like he's the perfect goalkeeper for Championship being 6'7 (201 cm). At least you won't have to worry about keeper punching the ball from incoming crosses with this one. Maybe Rovers can offer him their new 'favourite' kind of deal (pay as you play)?

Whether these are realistic or not probably depends if they're willing to accept a salary in line with or below Rovers' alleged wage limit of 10K / week...

He played 16 games for Plymouth, same as Rovers , how many minutes that equates to I've no idea.

He definitely seemed to get better as the season went on, I put that down partly to fitness , I've no evidence, just how it appeared.

If you've evidence to the contrary, let's hear it.ย

He was hardly injured last season and was in the team or on the bench for Plymouth most of the time so no reason why he wouldn't be fit.ย

The run up to him signing for Rovers is listed below. The longest spell he had last season without making any first team appearances was the 4 game run in March / April whilst he was at Ewood.ย

He was hardly like Dennis who hadn't kicked a ball in a first team for almost a year. Nor had he missed loads of training through injury last season. Therefore I'm not sure how you can say he wasn't fit.

He appeared better as the season went on because he wasn't starting. He was generally coming on when we were shutting up shop and had less ground to cover.

Great post. Its there in black and white. We have also heard Gestede and Ismael mention 6 or 7 signings prior to knowing that Weimann and Batth were to leave, seemingly before Dolan was even confirmed to leave. There have also been interviews mentioning an "exciting" summer, that it was going to be more of an overhaul than we anticipated and repeated mentions of wanting some new attacking players with pace and power.

This is why I dont get why people are downplaying the amount of players that we need. If we dont end up with another forward, or we do only sign a couple more. Im not going to have that it was a conscious decision not dictated to by finances.

So far it's a window of cheap, under delivering and zero ambition. They are working within a barely "Championship" budget and planting leaks to players we have no intention of spending the fee required.

100 %.

Especially the last bit.

Edit: Im not even convinced by this Baradji saga but it creates the illusion we're doing something I suppose.

Might be proved wrong when he rocks up here.

I agree. I wouldn't rule out that they're waiting for the Baradji deal to be settled so they have an idea of what's left in the budget. If they can't get him at a price they're ok with they might end up going for a pricier or cheaper alternative. Probably the latter knowing this lot.

Jesus christ, Forshaw played in 16 games for us last season? No wonder we didn't get over the line.

Not sure Ive missed anyone off?
Do we need anymore cms (unless we sell one)? seems a winger and cb and a 10 are most needed, especially with carters injury woes and wharton being out for ages. 2 signings of actual quality weve heard of would be nice, but not a chance in hell that will happen. I imagine we will be using the kids when needed as they want those extra minutes being ticked off... I also expect 1 or 2 on loan. Id be amazed if 3 more aren't signed by end of September. With our injury records it needs at least 3 at least. Scary looking at it on paper, where are those goals coming from...

I'm not worried about the silence in transfers and or even our business so far - I'm content enough.
The worry is that we only want 2/3 more and then the fact that Britain looks off with question marks over our club captain.ย

Pasha is running us into the ground!ย

Montgomery, who looks to be ahead of Buckley in the pecking order based on pre season.ย

If I was splitting hairs, then It will be Wharton or McLoughlin partnering Hyam or Carter, based on Ismael saying he wants a left footed centre back on the left etc
