We're unwilling to pay for the more highly sought after loanees (who are earmarked as better / further along in their development) so we get the cheap ones like ACD, Clarkson, Mola et al - the ones PL clubs have little hope for, but are willing to see what they've got playing men's football.

Not this season....yet.

By the way i think ACD will turn out a lot better than Markanday but we'll see.

Like what. In a winger I look for real pace, has he got a trick or two, is he two footed, is he a threat in the air, is he a nasty bastard to play against, does he demand the ball ?  I couldn’t see any of those attributes in Hedges when I first saw him play and nothing has changed subsequently.

Hedges' deficiencies are less obvious when he's got a decent team around him, simply because he works hard and therefore looks like he's contributing. When he's increasingly surrounded by limited players then it becomes more obvious that he's not much use.

He was brought in initially as a cheap option to come off the bench. The fact he's now a starter is emblematic of our on pitch decline.

So Travis wants to do Rovers a favour by going now rather than next summer so that we receive a fee?

Jackson reckons Ismael is open, honest and 'an open book' - says who? Who gives Ismael his information? That's right, the liars upstairs. 

Unsurprisingly that ridiculous claim/admission from Ismael - unnecessary and unprompted - has gone down badly with Travis - it has made his future untenable which is EXACTLY what the the regime have wanted - they want him gone and they want the blame piling on the player and Derby and not themselves.

I am however glad that Jackson is acknowledging for the first time that the 'party line' from Rovers - that they've made him a good offer to commit - might not actually be the truth and that other parties suggest there has never been a formal offer made (which is what I believe and the evidence seems to suggest).

Jackson thinks that the above becomes 'a debate over semantics' - I disagree. If the truth of the matter is - as I suspect - that the player hasn't even been given a proper offer to stay - then this needs making clear to the paying public and the deluded brigade need to swallow their medicine and learn their lessons not to trust a word this regime comes out with ever again.

The money offered by Derby described as 'life changing' by both sides - if you want a sentence that displays what these people have done to this club then there it is. Of course this suits Rovers again because they can make out like we were never in any position to keep him up against such 'resources' (actually Derby aren't wealthy and have brought in less than we have in the last 3-4 years).

That is a lie because they could have made offers during last season and didn't, which is why Travis confirmed this publicly in March and why Eustace walked out. 

Ismael is either an idiot or is complicit in the shenanigans for his comments after the last two games.

I keep seeing people say 'doubled his wages' or '£30k'.... as far as I can see the only thing Jackson has mentioned is 'life-changing'.  Depends what Trav is on now (let's say £15k P/W, which I highly doubt tbh), you'd only have to increase that by 5-10k and I'd say that is pretty life-changing.  Potentially an extra £2m - £2.5m over 5 years. 

Once again, one of our key players is leaving for a derisory figure because we just cannot tie down anyone of any use to a contract. Comin up for 2 years (November 2023) since Wharton signed a proper contract extension, and even that was when the club was comfortable in the knowledge that they were going to flog him at the earliest opportunity. 

Another gut punch for the fanbase.

£30k pw for Travis seems a bit extreme for this division. I like Trav and have generally stuck up for him, but it's not like he's a PL player stuck in the Championship. He's at the right level, and £30k is far north of the wage for a solid if unspectalur Championship midfielder. Bizarre if true - even if Derby can afford to offer him that, it would presumably massively unbalance their wage structure. 

I am dubious on the figure, to say the least.

It will likely be £20K - £25K basic & the rest in bonuses/appearance fees etc

Which although a ridiculous amount, these are the figures on offer to a seasoned Championship performer from most teams in the division

Matt Grimes for example is on £35K/week at Coventry (which will also probably be a basic of circa £25K/week, and bonuses making up the rest

there were rumours/stories at the weekend that Travis had been offered £30K/week by another Championship club

I’d want a “ difference maker “ for that sort of money. Travis doesn’t fit that bill. I’m thinking of players like Berkovic when he was the final piece of the jigsaw that saw us promoted. He was a “ difference maker “.

What we might want at that sort of money, isn't what you can get... at least not in this country anymore

Id not call Matt Grrimes (£35K/week at Coventry) a difference maker either (not saying he isnt good, but he isn't a difference maker)
