There's no use in us arguing semantics, I don't think saying Hull were dreadful is downplaying a result, you do. Fine. That's why I said a real start. Of course the points count, let's not be silly. Two wins in a row and I would consider our season truly underway. Quote

I can't control who owns Rovers. I can't control who plays for us. I can't control who leaves, nor why they leave. I follow Rovers to enjoy football, and no matter what is going on around the club when it isn't match-day, I still thoroughly enjoy match days. This will sound contradictory given that I'm sitting here bang in between two Rovers match days writing this, but I often wonder if I'm the only one who finds following Rovers much more enjoyable when I don't digest the drama off the pitch, true or otherwise, and stick primarily to match days and a few beers. I’m sure there are many who share your views. I guess there will be those who feel that a football club is part of the social fabric of a town/city but increasingly, given the gentrification of the game, football has become just another commodity to be consumed like a Big Mac without thinking too much. . As for control, well I wonder why clubs hire an army of voices to manufacture and massage public opinion. And why certain fan actions at many clubs around the world have caused change. And of course there are plenty who just like ‘debating’ –hence a lively messagboard. 🙂 Quote

Tbf they weren't saves you wouldnt expect any keeper to make. He does have a knack for making routine saves look showy. However assomeone who isn't a fan,. he's improved a lot since he first came in. He needed to. Quote

It's not pleasant, but my advice has always been the same - keep your head down, keep your mouth shut, negotiate your best exit, and make yourself look professional throughout. Like Travis you mean? And unlike Ismael who slung mud publicly at Travis without specifying what it was about? As for the lady who's left Rovers, why is everyone on their high horse about what's let's face it is a fairly mild comment from her? Nearly everyone on here says far worse than that about the regime every day. I doubt anyone on here knows what's gone on between her and the Club but rightly or wrongly they've binned her off after 20 years so it ×would be hardly surprising if she's got the hump. Why should she have any loyalty to the Club now? And if she's nearing retirement age she may not be able to get another similar role or need to worry about what prospective future employers think of her social media activity. In general we can't keep hold of staff and the senior players were allegedly appalled by the way this lady was treated. Add to the Head Coach unnecessarily bad mouthing Travis in Public and it's a sheer lack of decency and professionalism at Club level as always.l 6 Quote
Old Codger Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Double swoop for out of favour Everton players.. Asmir Begovic Position: Goalkeeper Age: 37 2024/25 appearances: 0 Dominic Calvert-Lewin Position: Striker Age: 28 2024/25 appearances: 26 Oh, and we are sniffing around the stinking pile of shithousery called Danny Ings, from West Ham too.. But seriously, there are some excellent goalkeepers available from the top flight... Edited 4 hours ago by Old Codger Feck it. I made it up Quote

As I said, there are some very experienced goalkeepers without clubs, from the top flight. We could benefit from some experience and calm heads / steady hands as back up. No doubt Mr Fruity and Bad Tempered Shadow-Boy are hard at work plotting some unexpected coup in the striking and goalkeeping departments... Not long now till we find out.. Tick Tock! Quote

Regarding the first point, I don't think there was any mud slinging. He was open and honest about a situation. Regarding the second, it's one of a series of comments, and it's unprofessional. Doesn't matter what has gone on. That's between her, the club, and, if necessary, her lawyer. She's doing herself absolutely no favours speaking out it in public. She is seemingly looking for a new job and she is making herself look like a child. 2 Quote

smiller14 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago There's a lot of chatter about non-playing staff leaving, and my initial reaction was one of sympathy - 20 odd years of service and edged out of the door (not that we know the circumstances). However, with the constant cryptic digs, her being so glad to be gone, my thinking has changed somewhat. Is there a toxic environment? Potentially. Or was there a clique of sorts before with bad attitudes and an obstruction to change (whether we agree with it or not) that needed addressing? It's clear Lesley was extremely close to Travis and also a few others, all of which have given us good service over the years but also presided over much of the underachievement and been key components of a side that many people have questioned with regards to mentality. This is pure conjecture, but does being overly close personally (remember, this is a job) to certain players undermine the role as player liaison officer with the wider group? And is this relationship impacting the day to day role and work with other players, especially at a time when the close relationships appear to be with players who want to leave the club? Again, I'm being hypothetical, but that's what cryptic posts do - they leave questions for people to draw half baked conclusions, and posts like that make me question who is at fault. My gut instinct was always the club, but what's clear is that we need everyone pulling in the same direction, from the manager to the support staff. As always, more questions than answers. A few posts have suggested this and I'm coming around to the conclusion that a refresh of sorts isn't a bad thing. The motives may lie in cost cutting, but I've sulked on many away trips about our squad's lack of fortitude and bottle, with the same scenarios playing out time and time again. Yes, Venkys transfer woes have undoubtedly contributed, but when they cross that white line the onus is with the players, and many of the long serving players leaving now have been consistent parts of a squad that hasn't got it done when it matters. Will the new lads be different? I genuinely don't know, but I'm happy to find out. Would I sign Travis for £3m? No I wouldn't. Would I have renewed his deal if he asked for fair terms? Probably. But I'm not privy to that information. My conclusion is that a change suits both parties and I genuinely wish him well; he seems a top bloke. I think Rovers has been an easy team to play for for too long. Flatter to deceive, gallant losers. This isn't a vindication of what we've done, but something had to change. This rant doesn't have any sort of logical conclusion or end, and might be awash with contradictions as it's just me thinking aloud, but I think our legacy with Venkys rightly causes suspicion, doubt and negativity. Finally we are doing something 'different' - we may fall flat on our face, but I for one am cautiously excited about what comes next. If that's League One, then I will accept that I've just written paragraphs of absolute bollocks and apologise profusely. 7 1 Quote
