As with every "era" or "project" it was the owners who stopped us.

In that instance - Yes. Because they didn't appoint a decent DOF to support JDT.

Just as they allowed Mowbray to trundle on for ages burning money and wages on the Road to Nowhere and employed Waggott for years to run the Club into the ground.

Buck ultimately stops with the owners.

If we have managed to get 1m plus for Leonard I am happy with that.

Really hope we are not done yet. I would like to get Cadamerteri as new young striker, even if we loan him back to develop as a starter at Wednesday.

I really want an experienced back-up English keeper, though this may be something they look at on a free after the window closes and players might accept less.ย

Finally, I would like a top tier loan as well if that's a thing we can rustle up anymore, ideally a winger I think.

I make it euros 9.87 v 9.73.

Cheers. Roughly what I thought off the top of my head without totting it up.

Without wanting to give them any credit, the gross amount spent is better than many feared but it counts for nothing if the ones coming in are no good and nil net spends are probably only going to send us in one direction in the long run.

Such a passive way to admit blame.ย

Their issues fall far below employing those 3. The first 2 were flawed brought as much as good as bad, especially Mowbray, and surely after Suhail's influence has come to light, Waggott was an issue but clearly never THE ISSUE over here.

I expect us to thrive though now without those 3 at the club.

100%...

I think the change works as a bit of a distraction...until excitement over the new signings turns into grim realisation..

With every signing derby make I dread the 150th anniversary game even more.

My word.

Very confident he will never get to run past Alebiosuย

I dont because we've replaced the Coventrio with Pasha/Gestede and Ismael. Like replacing cholera with typhoid.

We did reasonably well under JDT and JE though despite the regime wouldnt you say?

I donโ€™t understand why we are spending money, even ยฃ2m on players if our ambition as a club is to not stay up- some clubs donโ€™t spend anything and we do- it is a bit baffling- we buy these random players, are they on low wages? Do we have a strategy as a club?

The ambition is to bob around in mid-table Championship obscurity for the lowest possible cost.

Yeh I thought so too but then why buy players? Like why do they spend money ?

It seems to make no sense- we could easily bob around with freebies or loans or just renew a contract here or there but to buy a few players for over a ยฃ1m each doesnโ€™t seem to fit the notion unless they want us to survive and potentially make money off these players? Like are they hoping we unearth some one who will be sold for a few mill?

Freebies cost more in wages - especially established Championship freebies.

Loans cost a loan fee then you pay their wages for a year.

Yes, they're hoping to a) survive and b) unearth a few players they can sell on for a big profit so they can keep the cycle / gravy train going for as long as possible.

We havent spent anything either in real terms. The Clubs that havent bought anyone probably havent sold anyone either.

We've had a huge turnover of players but have managed to shift the vast majority of the higher earners so I would imagine we've vastly reduced the wage bill which was probably the only real goal for this window.

Cutting the wage bill seems to be the plan but contradicts what Gestede said a few months ago? Sure he will put the record straight soonโ€ฆ..
ย

He said some players (with just a year left) would sign extensions - imagine he was more put on the spot as clearly has not been the case.

How many first team players have signed a contract extension over the past year or so - just Riberio?ย

Slightly off topic but I donโ€™t understand at all why they bought the club and lied to fans and are ยฃ200M deep and just happy to cut costs and sit in mediocrity forever and rot. Whatโ€™s the point? Just sell it as fans (maybe itโ€™s just me) becoming incredibly bored of the constant fooling fans and what weโ€™ve become.ย

Any idea what our wage bill is now with these new lads? I wonder if the tsf fees are spread a bit or include add ons ? No way will we be spending ยฃ2m on a striker when we โ€œcould avoid spending anythingโ€ as a club (not as a fan obvs). But I mean they could argue we donโ€™t need a striker as we have Leonard so is this new kid on lower wages than Leonard?

So for the first time in history (and probably the last) Pasha was right if he managed to get a bit extra in terms of add ons out of McAnthony and Posh?

I feel ill just typing that!
