wilsdenrover Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago When did bringing in players for competition (as against to improve the team) become a thing? Quote

rob_of_the_rovers Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Just from looking at Soumano's stats from the last couple of seasons: 23/24: was on loan to a team that ended up relegated from Ligue 2. He had a good first half of the season, with 11 league goals before February, but then didn't score again until the final day. Never scored more than 1 in a game. Ended up with a goal every 224 minutes in the league. 24/25: back at Lorient who ended up getting promoted from Ligue 2. Only started 11 league games but came off the bench in most of the others. Scored 14 goals, mostly off the bench, which turned out to be a goal every 92 minutes. 1 Quote
ROVER_N_OUT1978 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I tend to agree @rob_of_the_roversΒ there isn't anything there to make me say this guy is a game changer. Pululu would be a much better option imo 2 Quote

I would dispute we have spent anywhere near Β£7.5m.Β I think fees for players signed have been over-hyped for the consumption of those in our fan base who are highly gullible.Β I would put fees paid in the Β£4 to 5million range with a further Β£2 to 3million due when we win the PL!!! The fact is fees for departing players Brittain, Travis, JRC, Buckley and Dolan (compo) will almost certainly exceed the fees paid for our incomings. I think the reality is we have spent nothing, in fact we are in the black on fees and you can add to that some add-ons from past sales. I suspect if our budget is Β£5million, there may well be some hefty bonuses to be paid due to a substantial saving on that budget! Of course the only way round this is to scrap all this 'undisclosed fee' crap, report both the actual fee, potential add-ons and the fee paid to agents for every transaction.Β That would give you the openness, transparency and honesty that seems to excite you.Β Β The initial fees spent probably stack up to the David Raya add on money which will count as something of a bonus on the income sheet. The rest of the sales before this summer were always marked for running costs. Quote

All that is required to qualify as home grown is to have been registered with any club affiliated to the FA or the FA of Wales for at least three seasons or 36 months prior to their 21st birthday (or the end of the season they turn 21). We can't see anything to say loanees are excluded from counting as home grown players. Edited 2 hours ago by KentExile 1 Quote
