Well on numerous occasions, including Derby's manager today, you have accepted location as a reason for someone moving club. Being closer to home, family reasons etc. You did the same with Joe Rothwell to Bournemouth and others.

So Rob Edwards, who comes from Telford and who played for Wolves for years, who actually seems to have very strong family ties to that area, yet you don't seem willing to accept this might play a part in him moving there rather than staying with Middlesbrough.

Firstly, I was talking about football when discussing Edwards possible move to Wolves. Edwards's family is based already in Birmingham and he work away.

On Rothwell situation, you posted that info and just for the record in his moves to Leeds and Rangers, Rothwell's family stayed down South whilst he lived away from his family.

Pretty sure your family would tell you not to be such a fool!  Anyone who turns down an opportunity to give their family a serious uplift in their standard of living and quality of life really needs to give their head a wobble.

Mercer, my standard of life and living is good. I leave it there

Alan Pace - if you want to bring me out of retirement for a short term consultancy, I'm ready, willing and able!

No surprise you would jump into bed with that lot.

So money is not important and neither is living closer to his family, most likely from the family home.

He should ignore both of those factors and base it purely on football, even though the team he would be going to is a division up.

I was talking about football and that's what my opinion was on.

You keep banging Wolves are up division? For how long? 7 months? Is the squad good quality to stay up? Is there any funds there?

Football questions.

Boro were last in the Prem in 16/17 though. Its not like he would be leaving a club used to or necessarily likely to being in the Premier League to join one that is currently in the Premier League, they have spent a decent chunk this year, low expectations and at worst a strong position to bounce back.

But either way, big pay rise and presumably can move back in to the family home as a bonus. They are the deal clinchers. Matters you are dismissive of, the latter hypocritically so.

Edwards not managing Boro today, decision taken by the club

He's going isn't he?!

Great move for both Edwards and Wolves.

For Wolves, will be very difficult to escape the drop but they will have a manager with a strong track record in the Championship who will have had over 6 months to assess the squad and work out what's required to bounce back next season.  And should Edwards pull off the great escape.....!!!!!

For Edwards, a move to a club and area where he has a clear affinity.  A move which will give him and his family more long term financial security and a better quality of life.

In my books, a no brainer for both parties

Edwards has a chequered track record so it remains to be seen if the appointment ends up being successful. Amazing what a few months of good results can do for a reputation mind.
