Even under the chicken chokers this was pretty unbelievable. What had they got to gain  ? Having said that what have they got to gain in owning the club ?

Something that would be utterly inconceivable at any other professional club, here is believable and so much so that one post on twitter snowballs into something massive and forces the club to respond like this. 

That is purely because the club cannot be trusted and no story, no matter how ridiculous or extreme it might appear, can be ruled out at Ewood Park these days.

The club is of course a mess, but this is a strange stick to beat them with. What it shows is how quickly jingoistic lies spread on the Internet these days. In the current climate this sort of thing could spread quickly at any club and need putting down. The club have acted quickly to quash it, and that's the right move. They're not to blame, whichever pillock fabricated this is.

My understanding (from the meeting with Fraser back in April 24) was that the anniversary shirt would be worn in the commemorative game much like the 125 one was against Wolves in 2000.

I do wonder if the calendar has rather taken them by surprise & so we may well have player anniversary shirts with a poppy & fan anniversary shirts without. 

Either way, I won’t be buying one…I’m extremely fond of my 1950’s shirt 😉

An unsubstantiated rumour about such an emotive subject has quickly been dispelled by the club and the originator should hang his head in shame.

This bollocks will have been deliberately spread out there by those in power to find leaks and to try and make the fans look like mugs. Heavens forbid they should put the same amount of energy into just doing a moderately competent job running the club.

The fact that this was believable says everything really.

There is an added problem in that it is so important to ensure that our fanbase can not be re-defined by Suhail/Rudi et al, as misrepresenting the situation at the club.

This was my first thought when the statement by the Rovers was made. I don't know who to believe.

I’m with @arbitroon this…the speed of the “about turn” suggests it was anything but, this was a false rumour that was quickly deleted by its originator. 
If you had revealed something so awful that made the club change its mind - why then delete your post? 
Wouldn’t you instead claim the victory?

I certainly think there was some legs in the rumour, someone maybe suggesting or pushing to sideline the usual stuff or tone it down.

Otherwise where did it suddenly arise from and why for once were the club so quick to react ?

They obviously knew what was coming across social media it's like they were stood next to the campfire with extinguisher in hand.
