If there's any hint of a death spiral from Christmas onwards this season we're sunk. We havent got the points in the bank to get away with it.

Have to hope we can keep chugging away at an average of just over a point a game and claw our way to safety that way.

In survival mode from game one.

That RoversXtra account reckons Wharton has torn his achilles tendon. Surely not.

Don’t listen to that account. Whoever it is chats utter bollocks most 99.9% of the time

If correct that's Wharton's season over - be lucky to see him playing before next Christmas!

He has a slight tear in the sheath of his achilles I understand. That is completely different to a full year which would most likely be a full season out.

They showed him in the stand at the Derby game and he didnt appear to be in any obvious discomfort.

Would he have been up and about if he'd torn his achilles?

Posing the question because I dont know either way.

Edit: Arbitro beat me to it!

Do we know what the likely recovery time is if that's the case?

The initial prognosis was ten weeks. I had a similar injury years ago and it a strange thing that I could run almost normally but pushing off to sprint was uncomfortable.

I was told just to rest with some gentle stretching daily.

Yes. It happened to my friend and he was in a boot like Wharton was the other day. No pain.

Very informative, cheers.

Be a disaster for us if Wharton is out for ten weeks.

Faced with a choice of paying a substantial fee for a replacement or getting a loan or a free agent in as cover we might see Ismael's longstanding aversion to the latter magically disappear.

Sounds similar to plantar fasciitis, uncomfortable and irritating but doesn't stop you doing anything. PF is very difficult to get rid of though, and sometimes never goes away

Wharton seems to be made of glass and never appears to be far away from the next injury. You cannot build a team or depend on players who are so injury prone. Carter the same. Rovers should look for a replacement pronto, or bring O'Riordan back as soon as possible and see if he's up to the job

The modern academy model and everything that's wrong with it pushing little bodies from early age beyond their natural growing limits.

Get into their 20's if they're lucky and everything starts to go pop.

Dou know if that's the one he previously ruptured?

Even for a slight tear, 10 weeks seems optimistic - would think a minimum of 3 months given the stresses and strains of professional football.

I don't know if it the one he injured at Brentford.

Think the chances of re-rupture after surgery are circa 10%.

The worry for me would be it it's a tear to the one previously ruptured as perhaps indicative of some weakness in the tissue.

Absolutely,every game a Cup Final.

Do our Foreign Mercenaries have the Arte Et Labore to pull us out the shit..do they care enough?

To say I have my doubts is an understatement.

Backs to the Wall.

To be honest, very much doubt they have either element!

When the going gets tough, we will really need the 'Labore' element - wouldn't fancy being in the trenches with too many of ours!

In an ideal world we’d be able to manage Wharton (and Carters) game time. I mean if we had a reliable centre half who played pretty much every game we could accommodate that as well. Hang on a minute, we DID have one of them didn’t we!

Flogged him and now in a position where that’s out the window and now when Carter is fit he’ll be needed every game, till he’s injured again, which usually doesn’t take very long.

Onto Preston and I think their current league position flatters them, they haven’t looked particularly good when I’ve seen them and owe a lot to their keeper. Although he dropped a massive bollock at weekend too. Our injuries sadly make it a lot trickier than it could have been but I don’t think it’s the walkover for them most on here are predicting.

Selling Hyam without a replacement when the remaining centre halves are highly injury prone shows that this is not a serious football club (not that we needed reminding).

I thought he tore his calf last time?

Anyone know when tickets are released to general public? Don’t have a season ticket this year - I’ve tried to get a ticket as it doesn’t say there’s any restrictions and it shows the map and a load of seats available but won’t let me buy one. Anyone any ideas?

You manage to get one mate?

It was a slap in the face to the fans that had already bought a season ticket that's for sure.
