Not the point i was making.

'Struggled with the step up'

The point is they are no use to us right now and all need to be on loan getting used to mens football.

Meanwhile Harry Leonard used correctly would have been very useful to have around this season but like Gueye his running/pressing stats wouldn't have impressed Ismael.

Regardless of the fact we need someone with a bit of poaching/movement in the box nous whilst Andre is missing.

We need a bloody good striker, to strengthen our attack.

If it was me I would sign 3 game changing forwards...

  1. A striker who can hold up the ball and generally be a nuisance to defences. We give the opposition nothing to think about in general play at the moment with our powder puff attackers.
  2. A striker with pace who has a record of scoring goals in the UK.
  3. A forward/attacker/winger who can drag us to 3 points with power/pace/individual dribbling skill (ideally all 3!).

If we had any money left over would go for another of no 2!

Our budget wouldn’t buy the big toe of any of those

It was a good effort from the 'kids'. Ultimately we were not strong enough.

I do not buy this narrative that VI is doing a good job with the squad he has at his disposal. Why?

- 1 win in 11 games

- Where is the accountability for the woeful squad we have? He has played along with Gestede and Pasha throughout.

You do know that we're owned by Venky's, right? 😝

The sad thing is that if we stay up, the owners will see this as a very successful season.

Wage bill reduced dramatically; one player we signed last summer (Alebiousu) will go for a sizeable profit in the summer; average age of the squad reduced; and a number of youth team players brought into the first team.

They are the objectives of the club and I don't think they even try to pretend otherwise anymore.

Well, we've turned them up before for little money (Szmodics, Adam Armstrong etc).

I think we need to look at League 1 and 2 and take a punt on a couple of forwards with good goal scoring records at that level.

I doubt loans are going to help us, or players from abroad. January loans tend to not be motivated, and players from abroad need time to get up to speed.

And in summer they'll reduce it further by Trons, Cantwell leaving and selling Toth for a few quid.

They'll then assume the advancement of last summers signings being another year experienced and more youth in the squad will be enough to stay up next season. Before they start selling that lot off to pay the bills.

"Little money" is relative.

Armstrong and Szmodics turned out to be absolute bargains but still cost £3m and £1.9m respectively.

Our ceiling for transfer fees recently seems to be generally around the £1m mark with the wages being even more of a problem so that would put even a top League 1 or League 2 striker out of our budget probably unless someone else is sold to cover it.

Do you really think they will notice? After all they have been boycotting Ewood Park for the past 10 years. Are they still alive even?
